Quote from BAMBO :FYI it's a romanian shepherd

Here's the second vid in case you haven't seen it on my channel. As said in the description, it does not do the car justice

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUuDVy8UN6Q

Even tho it has twin 45 carbs it starts like an injection car, without throttle pumping? It's a nice car, tho I think you need minilites for it.

Pop the hood and give it some revs, always wanna see a Zetec with twin carbs.

I find it a little mad that someone has a car like that as his first.

Ah yes, got out of army last summer. Waking up 5:30 for 362 mornings it was. Since being a Finnish I dunno how it is like in Norway, but I bet you're so going to love being a freshman.

Also, bunch of young males closed inside same four walls for long time ain't gonna end up with mature and sensible acting. We called our service kindergarten. Tho you might wanna turn it down a bit when the higher ranking are near, just keep you out of trouble and not to loose your holidays, like I did once.

In our company we weren't allowed to use laptops or much of any electrical equipment because it was such an old building and they didn't think it's old electrical equipment could keep up. Well it didn't matter since at least everyone of our bunch used laptops during the free-time.

Never really liked that film, especially because everyone seems to think that it's for real. The sound is just dubbed and the car ain't even going fast, just braking speed limits and some other road laws. The sensation of speed is just created by the camera which is mounted very low. I even doubt the car is a Ferrari, because it ain't going any fast but it still wobbles quite a lot.

Ah yes I forgot to add that in my post. If I remember correctly it didn't allow any fast shifting really and ie. while drifting a fast shift up with keeping the throttle floored was impossible, because GT5 prevents gear from getting in if throttle is pressed.

Well your probably right. Tho I didn't say it would be awesome, only that it could.
But the image in my head of it was awesome.

This is awesome. I actually thank you from bumping since I probably wouldn't never seen this otherwise. Many of the facts there just seem unbelievable, such a big difference to the modern world racing or even the more known historical eras. It's almost like from some kind of a scifi movie, just without lazors and stuff.

Racing movies in general are quite rubbish but I bet someone could make a hell of movie from racing in 30's or so.

I might be little late already giving my thoughts about this game but oh well.
My friend bought GT5 so of course I had to test it out. I found that the physics were quite good actually, there wasn't any weird anomalies in the way how cars acted, everything seemed to be ok. I tested out a stock RX-7 in Nurbugring and felt quite quickly that I was confident and able to balance drifting angles quite nicely and do long drifts without that much changing my driving style from driving LFS, rFactor or a real car for that matter. Sometimes it was really hard but that was just because my friend doesn't have a rigid enough table for the G27 and his gaming chair is just horrible for driving. Tho in quick test I think gravel physics had the weird "center axle" effect so that just simply sucks, looks like they did cut some corners here.

So the physics are quite nice, but there are some things what simply ruined this game for me. First of all the most annoying is probably the very weird camera shake effect when using incar camera, I just cannot understand what it is trying to simulate and it just made seeing hard and I bet I even could get a headache from it. So I had to use the roof camera, simply the incar camera was undrivable for me. And why the virtual steering wheel only turns about 180 degrees and lags, even when the actual physical movement in front wheels isn't lagging. Also I found it very weird that G27 used all the 900 degrees to turn front wheels, but the virtual steering wheel stopped somewhere around 540 degrees to the 180 degree position even when the front wheels keep turning until G27 has reached the full 900 lock.
They wanted to include fancy hand animations but I think that it's more important that the virtual wheel turns at the same rate than the controller does. Even having no virtual wheel at all is better than this. I think the rF style with no hands and adjustable rotation is the best solution.

Other than that it didn't really impress or disgust me in any way. Sounds are ok and graphics are ok, but even with all the HD bling or whatsoever I didn't find it much more enjoyable to look at than rF with a nice mod. GT5 gives me a very sterile feeling overall and all the nice cars and driving them doesn't give me any of that car-guy enthusiasm I love. It could be fun sim to drive but those little things pretty much ruined it for me and I definitely wouldn't pay for it. Tho it's not like I even own a PS3 so good thing I don't even have to think about it...
Maybe one of the reasons I'm not a console guy at all is because usually when it comes to PC games everything is quite easily customisable, but when a console game or sim has a flaw you just have to deal with it.

Last summer when we went for a swim with friends someone had left a little surprise in the end of the dock. Yes there was a little pile of turd sitting there. Luckily we weren't drunk enough to stamp on it.

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :There are two places where I recognised a difference, one is a sweeping left hander at some traffic lights, I normally have to hold myself upright with my left arm hooked around the seat, didn't have to today and I hit the corner faster than normal on purpose.
The second is a roundabout that I turn right at, normally I have to get out of the throttle and get more lock on so I don't drift wide into the inside lane, today no such issue.

I haven't put down enough miles to really decide if the pros outweigh the cons. But if you do get a strut brace, make sure it is a solid design, the other more common type have a tendency to not really brace anything, just look pretty.

Avoid this sort.

Hmmm. A strut brace shouldn't affect suspension in any level, it only makes the body more solid. So it should be as comfy as before but if the body is really "soft" originally, then a strut brace probably can help a bit with cornering.

lol I did it again, first post the problem and then immediately find solution to it. I had the "Swap center / subwoofer output" checked, when I unchecked it it removed the problem. Now I didn't have any bass in LFS but I just checked the "enable bass management" and increased the subwoofer channel output and now it's fine.

Tho I think that it would be nice that this program could work even when the center / sub swap is used since it's needed in some situations I think?

I have a bug to report (I think). I got this to work in 64-bit Win 7 by using the 64-bit version that Crady posted, but I can't hear the pitspotter. I only hear little mumbling from the subwoofer, seems like this app cant use 5.1 audio systems properly. If I set the speaker configuration to stereo (2-speakers/headphones) in the Realtek control panel I can hear the spotter just fine, but again when I set the configuration to 5.1 it doesn't anymore work, spotter speaks only thru the bass element. And I don't really wanna use stereo configuration since the 5.1 sounds so much better.

Not in the RBR as default but you can download it from here.
This is the Rothmans version, the white one seen in my picture is my personal skin for it.

Yes I'm sure.

But still, now I feel like an ass since about hour after posting this topic I fixed this problem. It seems like the cause of the problem after all is Vista/7 OS but there is a workaround (at least for ATi/AMD users).

So if there is anyone out there having similar issues than me this worked for me. No way to force vsync off at Catalyst Control Center (CCC), but with ATi Tray Tools it can be fixed. I myself used the beta version found here. I also disabled overclocking feature during installation, because the newest current stable version with OC enabled caused BSOD for me.

After installation launch ATT and make a profile for RBR (or any other game what is causing vsync headache for you). In the profile setup window go to the Direct3D Tweaks tab. Now here we have a nice feature, called "Force Vsync (Vista workaround)". Just select off from the drop down menu and save the profile. Start game from the profile and voila no vsync!

Also what I really love here is the option for super-sampling AA so now I can have Anti-Aliasing in RBR without the annoying little black lines. Now I run RBR with 1080p resolution with 4x AA and gotta say this game has never looked so good and worked so beautifully!

I really love this ATT because it uses the same interface than the great Omega drivers did back in the day when I used the X800Pro (BTW the most stable card/driver combination I've ever had).

Well now I'm really glad I went for the 6850 instead of the Nvidia GTX 460.

A nice picture for celebration:

Did some further investigation and found out something weird. I deleted RichardBurnsRally.ini and made a new one with the RBR Startup.exe. Now the game starts in windowed mode and there is no vsync or steering lag. But immediately when I add the "Fullscreen = true" line to the config it also turns the vsync on, waitretrace true or false doesn't seem to matter. Anyone know a way to get RBR fullscreen mid-game if it's already started in windowed mode?

Hello and good xmas to you all.

It has been some time since I last posted here, but now with RBR problems I thought about this forum, even if it's LFS forum but I bet there is plenty of RBR players here also since it's still the only good rally simulation available.

I have been fighting with steering lag issues and after hearing about the steering filters being the main cause I disabled all of them. But no luck. Some further experimenting and it seems that VSYNC is the reason for my problems here, if it's on I get annoying steering lag, seems like 60fps ain't enough for RBR to be drivable. So I forced it off from Nvidia control panel and even in the RichardBurnsRally.ini I put the "WaitRetrace" to "false" and worked, kinda. I could drive now, but even with these settings it sometimes randomly kept putting the Vsync on and I had to restart RBR to turn it off and it was drivable again. Because of this I couldn't play any full rally events because RBR always turned Vsync on at some point, I only did single stages.

But now I upgraded from PNY Nvidia 9800GTX+ 512Mb to Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 6850 1Gb it seems like I can't turn Vsync off at all in RBR. I have the latest 10.12 drivers. I have tried to force it off and to let the application decide and tried to turn WaitRetrace true and back to false but no luck. The darn FPS is just locked at 60 and it seems I cannot do anything about it. So now it seems I cannot go enjoy myself in mk2 BDA Escort going maximum attack at Chirdonhead...

Anyone had similar problems and found any solutions? How to permanently disable VSYNC from RBR?

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and my current system spec is following:
PSU: Corsair 400W
Motherboard: MSI K9VGM-V
Memory: 2GB Mushkin DDR2 800 Dual Channel
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
GPU: Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 1024

I know my system is a bit of a bottleneck for the new GPU but I'm upgrading other bits later. Still performance shouldn't be the issue here since years ago I used to run RBR with very high FPS readings VSYNC disabled with way slower system. Back in the day I've been running it with ATi 9600Pro, ATi X800 Pro and with Nvidia 8600 512 OC edition without any problems. These Vsync problems seem to have started somewhere around when I went from Win XP to Win 7, but I doubt I can blame the OS from this all?

Any advice?

TBH I myself have no clue for what group I belong...

The fact that next Monday my military service starts.

Well actually, not that much. The weird part is that it doesn't "grind my gears" like I thought it's gonna do. In a way I have been psychologically preparing myself for the thought of mandatory military service at the age of 20 for my whole childhood. In a way I think I am a bit nervous, but at the same time I'm very calm.

I'm a bit surprised that I'm just a bit interested to see how it's going to be.

Well, next Monday I leave at around 14:30 and then two weeks later I get to my first weekend vacation.

At least I'm gonna have a lots of time to think stuff thru for the next year or so.
