Quote from robt :Nice engine you have there PeBe, Gonna need a bit of work for the 200bhp reliably!

Theres a guy running the pinto efi turbo setup liek you have at 300bhp on a capri site. I'll try and find a link to it for you for ideas!
Not his thread but see the second post down, gives you the basic ingredients for his engine

http://www.turbosport.co.uk/sh ... mp;highlight=#post1549548

Thanks.
Stock iS Pinto should do 200+ bhp with about tad over 0.7 bar of boost quite reliably. I'm planning using max of 1 bar boost as a start now. Tho head gasket might blow at some point but it's not a biggie.

I'm not badly concerned about braking the engine many people seem to run surprisingly high amounts of boost in stock Pinto without the need for redoing head gasket every month.

Next stage for me would be Cossie pistons & rods (or machining combustion chambers to the pistons) and a better cam like Burton 134 or even Piper BP285 should give about 300 bhp without big problems. But at least for this summer I'm going to run stock engine with max 1 bar of boost probably.

Today did a little test to check if the car even moves without any outside help and yes it does. Turbo spools up quite quickly actually, tested only in a short driveway so first gear only but already got just under 0.7 bar of boost.

Not oil, but coolant. It's only the water pipe so it's an easy fix.

I kinda like the iS style white & black color so its' gonna stay. Tho I have one original grille mask lying around so gonna paint it white and put it on instead of that cut one.

Not gonna rat it more, it has little spots of rust on rear arches and on doors so it's enough rat look for me. Point is that it has to look kinda just like another old stock Sierra but the engine is something different.

Yeah tho reading the last few posts here I fear it's going to be slow because the power goal is only somewhere around 200+ bhp.

Bought a little project last weekend...

Yea it's not pretty and the paint job in the engine bay is fugly but this car has some sleeper potential in it and was quite cheap so went for it.
Cossie turbo & intercooler & injectors on 2.0 Pinto.
Plans are that it's going to be a semi-ratlook sleeperish fun toy for me. And the iS Cossie looker is going to work as a daily driver, tho I'm currently in mid of head swap, should be in road somewhere around next weekend.

Car didn't have spark or fuel when I bought it so the first thing was to figure out what was wrong. Many hours of measuring wires relays etc. and then we found out that it was only a little connector on end of a positive lead what was in between fuel pump relay and battery. Replaced the faulty connector and it fired right up. Sounds really good and healthy.

Now there is little things here and there what need some attention and hopefully I'm going to get it MOT'd for this summer so I could have some fun with it.

Already started stripping the interior out and it's almost ready just not sure how much I'm gonna keep interior around front seats.

Man that is one oversteery car! lol driver spends more time turning the opposite way than he is driving.

And BTW thanks, it's rare to find really good Historic Racing incar material.

I'd say Clelands fault. Watt's had inside line for that corner and was able to pass Cleland by braking later, but Watt's made a mistake and turned in too aggressively and hit Cleland who already was in front.

Quote from Jakg :Get a heatsheild or something, that looks terrible.

I don't wanna jump in any of the flamewars what seem to be an everyday routine at this forum but...

...I really dislike the look of heatshields on back bumpers. Tho it might be just because most of them are silver stickers on cars what don't need them. Anyway I don't think there's really anything wrong with a little black around the exhaust.

I'm not really into diesels at all, but if I never own a diesel I actually like it has to make lots of power and even more black smoke. And be installed in something ugly with 4-wheels.

If it's green I ain't gonna like it.

To me it sounded just that the driver was simply going on and off on the accelerator because it was really slippery. Dunno really what TypeRacing meant, but that car doesn't have a BOV. Pretty much all those WRC Subarus sound exactly like that when the driver is off throttle due to turbo chattering.

BTW that is one really poor special stage.

Quote from theirishnoob :i get this too, but i just run my Graphics on lower specs ( pretty much medium everything ) and it solves itself

the werid yet wonderful coding of lfs i guess ?

I've never seen a sim what doesn't have input lag with vsync on. It's a shame since movement just looks so much smoother and natural with vsync but you can't use it while driving...

If I'm not completely mistaken out of those three the Logitech is only one with 900 degrees of rotation, so at least I myself would go for it. My friend also bought a Driving Force GT just while ago because he wanted the 900 degrees but didn't want to pay the price of a G25. I have tested it a bit and it felt like a quality product. Only the pedals are a bit flimsy, but I think they still do their job.

Oh you reminded me that I forgot to mention that for LFS I use 720, mainly because it is the right "spec" for LFS cars and somehow it just feels right. Also if the virtual wheel isn't turning in exact same pace it annoys me a bit. For other stuff I usually use 900 degrees even if mostly I use less than the 36 degrees of lock that LFS provides.

The least amount of steering degrees I use is 540, for instance in RBR when I drive the WRC spec cars or something similar.

You dont NEED 900 degrees but if you want to feel anything like driving a real car then I suggest to go for it. After buying my G25 few years back I would never go back to 270 or anything similar. It's just no fun anymore.

Quote from Senninha25 :BMW M3 GT2 - I stumbled upon this and I'm confused...bacause this car is using a V8 engine and it just sounds like a 4 cylinder...a beefy 4 cylinder, but a 4-cyl nonetheless

A very simplified "rule" is that when you double the amount of cylinders the engine note keeps similar. Main reason why the so called american V8 sounds different is that it has a cross-plane crank (versus flat-plane like we have in most 4-pots and in the typical italian V8). Engine with cross-plane crank fires in an uneven rhythm, but engine with a flat-plane crank fires in an even rhythm.

For instance the induction sound of this Mercedes resembles a high revving 4-pot very strongly, even if it is a V8.

You might want to try and find different audio samples of different engines.
straight 5 vs V10,
straight 6 vs V12,
V8 vs V16.
Note is very similar when you compare these together.

I think you need the Logitech driver to make it work properly, but you can disable the profiler from starting at least and use the Windows game controllers thing to adjust settings.

Blackholemotorsports haven't been around for quite of a long time now. Shame, it hosted much nice files for RBR, tho I think you can still find most of them around somewhere.

The gas pedal problem, I dunno but maybe you should check out the filters and other stuff inside RBR's options. And remember to set both axis and digital since they both matter.

I myself spend quite a lot of time modding rF stuff and I have to say that the best way to learn (at least for me) is to start with a ready mod and try to do modifications to it. You will eventually start to understand what is purpose of the different files and what the different lines in them (use notepad or something similar) does. It will take LOTS of time, but eventually your brain will understand the folder structure and the different stuff inside.
Many of the lines inside these files are pretty self-explainatory.

Also google is your friend, there are many things you can't do just with a notepad and when you encounter a file you don't understand I suggest googling.

It's not as simple as putting few fancy lines in some program what makes the car for you.

There are lots of tutorials around and the ones what cover the whole system are huge so don't even ask for anyone to write a whole one on a forum.
Tho if you end up with a problem when "fiddling around" or anything you can always ask here or anywhere else.

For the 3D stuff I use Zmodeler2, tho I don't do lots of it, mainly just LHD conversions for my personal usage and other little stuff.

Quote from DevilDare :
- Engine sounds. Just amazing really.

Seems like I can't agree with this one. From the gameplay videos I've seen, at least some of the cars feature quite bad audio samples. They don't sound like you're in the car, more like they have recorded the sounds with a microphone attached to the tip of the exhaust. And many of the samples sound like they may have been started with a good quality sample, but edited in a bad manner (powerful EQ, too much volume or something similar) and so they have ended up with a sample that breaks quite a lot, thus destroying the sound quality. BTW I dunno if sound breaking is a right term, some Finnish guy with good English skills might help me? The term I'm looking for is when "ääni särkee".

Also they seem to still use the same straight-cut transmission sound sample files what Gmotor games already used many years ago. It's not bad quality but not quite realistic either.

-EDIT- Did some googling, maybe the term I'm looking for is "distortion".

Most of the main stream music have horrible lyrics too I think. Or if not I just have been very unlucky picking at a time to hear radio. Tho even the best lyrics in the world couldn't save most of the current hit music.

Worst? It's bad, but pretty much most of the current main stream music sounds same than this to me at least. Like, there is this rhythm and basic beat so it has to be categorized as music, but still I'm not able to find anything musical in it.
