Quote from KiRmelius :I've had Peugeot 205 1.1 . Well it lacked a lot of power, but was actually pretty fun to drive. If it was 1.6 or 1.9 GTI, I wouldn't have sold it.

A friend used to have a 205 1.4. It was genuinely funny car to drive (especially during winter). Another friend currently drives a 1.9 GTi which is very nice car too, altho he isn't the type who really abuses his cars.

My first car was RWD and I owned it for 8 years. Never crashed it altho it took a real beating during the winters (rear bumper was barely hanging, it had a close relationship with snow banks).
I understand why people say no RWD for first car, but you have to learn to drive at some point I think lol. I have only owned RWD cars (well all of them Sierras but anyway).

I can't comment on the insurance because here in Finland our insurance quotes aren't mental.

I'd like to agree with the Google+ hate. Google+, pls go away.
I have no use for a thing like Google+, but I'm forced to have a G+ account via youtube. Always when I sign in to YT, I'm also signed in to Google.
Why would I want to be signed in to a search engine?
And it's not only that, after G+ came along pretty much everything at youtube has started to go to shit. The user CP and other menus had lost all their usability and the general service quality (like bandwidth allowance) has decreased.

Anyone still remember that beautiful day when YouTube was an awesome site about videos and Google was just an effective search engine? I miss those days.

Oh BTW I created this youtube channel banner a while ago:

Feel free to use it, like I do on the front page of my channel.

Well I don't much know about that since I'm into old cars.
My old Ford's have been taking the abuse I give them quite well tho.

The make of the car doesn't matter if you are building it for proper fun. It is as reliable as you make it and when you use it properly it is going to crap something at some point. Even if it's VW which I guess have a reputation for being reliable then.

Quote from BlueFlame :I don't. Go German or stay at home with a broken car.

I don't want to argue about this, because I find that trying to diss another make of a car would be quite hypocritical for a car enthusiast. Even if I find most VW's blatantly boring.

Quote from KiRmelius :Looks more like Canada tho. I think Finns are more likely to use some vintage bolt-action rifle and one shot - one kill everybody. And Finns don't wear underwear.

Actually we do wear underwear. But when we do it's the only thing we wear.

Your not going to kill your social life with 3d virtual reality. It's just like any other thing you'd love to do, if you have passion for something you won't see what is happening around you when you are doing it. I love driving fast IRL and in virtual mode and I won't notice if people are talking to me while I'm doing it. VR will just enable me to get more out of the virtual version.

This text was coming from a guy who doesn't even own a facebook account because socially it's not as involved as i would like it to be, it's not real. When I interact with people, I do it face to face, but I also love to be able to cut out of it completely when I'm involved with a passion of mine.

If you're healthy you can differentiate these things.

Oh the memories. I'm pretty sure when I first saw that video I was only starting to understand that there is such things as memes on the internet.

Quote from N I K I :Shotglass turbo baby, those days are long gone. On a good engine there isn't even any black dust coming out of exhaust under any condition.

Yeah it's boring how even the little fun things of diesel engines are getting eliminated, isn't it?

I'm just saying if I ever own a diesel engine it will smoke enough to obstruct traffic.

It was written on some article I read that the bikers actually started attacking at the first stop and this is why the SUV driver decided to floor it.

I'm a bloody midget myself, but I used to be like that when I first got a bucket seat and installed steering wheel closer. But Nowadays I slide in like a boss! Just takes a little time to learn the correct movement pattern.

Shame about the handling. It's still probably loads of fun with friends over mp but I doubt I will buy it before it's properly moddable on PC. Hopefully there is enough people around to make a good overhaul mod for the handling.

Well of course it's a matter of an opinion but TBH I think that IV's handling was pure genius. I mean it was easy enough to be very playable with kb and mouse, but at the same time had a realistic feeling to it and was challenging enough to feel really rewarding when you were able to escape all those nice close calls you'd end up with.
My favorites were definitely the boat type of cars, old American 80's shitboxes with crappy suspension but enough power to get to a decent speed.
The Italian type supercars were a bit dull for me because they were too easy. I actually think it looks quite similar to this in the video.

Quote from sinbad :I wouldn't expect it to be indicative of the handling physics in general. Gta4 cars were just as keen to hover-craft-rotate in chase cam view, and obviously this is a high performance modern car with lots of grip and stiff suspension. It's the muscle cars that will show whether they've screwed with it or not, but I'm not overly worried by this video.

I'd agree on this.

All those videos you show are pretty much just result of bad driving inputs. Especially the Nordschleife one. Car actually starts to oversteer very gradually, there is lots of time to react but the driver fails to pretty much do anything. He countersteers when the car is pretty much spinned over already.

Make oversteery setup for XFG (comparatively tight rear and soft front) then drive provocatively and fail at correcting. You will spin.

What's so wtf about that? He just knows the stage very well. That's the kind of shit me and my friend were up to in Chirdonhead before modding really started to give us more good stages to run.

BTW that's a horrible driving position.

Quote from Klutch :10 seconds on google..

http://www.240sxforums.com/for ... imming-r200-j30-vlsd.html

Ok from a quick view it seems like there is a shim inside the VLSD that adjust how closely the viscous plates sit to each other. BTW looks like Nissan designed this diff to be much more pleasant to disassemble and put back together than Ford did for my diff!

Similar results in my case could be achieved with adding one or two viscous plates, but from what I've read changing to better viscous fluids can achieve the same so I think I'm still going with that. +It's an old diff so the fluid needs replacing anyway.

Quote from Dennis93 :Hmm, wouldn't a ramp differential be a better solution for you?

It still has some possibilities, and requires a bit less maintenance than VLSD..

There are loads of better diff options for me yes, but I'm currently using the Cossie diff because it's a cheap solution and was an easy swap. Also going to service it myself because I'm a cheap-ass!

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Pichsrure

I am laughing my ass off over here.

Quote from Klutch :yeah what would i know..

If you read my whole post I'm admitting that it seems to be possible on some diffs. I just don't know how it works because in my sense the VLSD is a closed unit inside the diff with the plates and the oil inside so I'm having hard time imagining how adding shims outside of the actual VLSD unit makes it lock any better. Quick google didn't come up with any good tutorials either (I need pictures to understand this shit).
Interesting topic tho.

Quote from Klutch :Just shim it?

You don't simply shim a viscous lsd.

-EDIT- I googled some, it appears there are few Nissan guys around who say it is possible to shim the viscous unit in their cars. I have hard time imagining how this would work without opening the actual VLSD unit, but I guess it is possible on some diffs then.
Anyway the Ford 7,5" Cossie rear end I currently have isn't "shimmable". Tho there are about ~50 viscous plates inside the VLSD unit and adding one or two can make it lock better (maybe some might call this "shimming"). But at that point the old viscous oil is getting replaced anyway and putting more aggressive oil in there is going to give similar results without the possible problem of packing the viscous plates too tight together which could eventually wear them out.

Yes it is, it also went pretty well on track with it's semi slicks.
