I tried using the more sensitive settings, but found it totally impossible to be precise. The wheel was constantly all over the place. My problem with controller; is once the car wheel gets to 180, it quickly jumps to 270. Unfortunately, the 0-270 range is just the range i need precision..

Yes it does steer more, but I compensate for that with wheel lock. I"m constantly changing lock on diffnt cars/tracks.

Wish I had a pad around, might be interesting method. Question about the gamepad (PS), they don't really plug into USB though do they?

Noticed the patch testing thread has disappeared. This a mistake, or has it been removed. Shame if it had, cause I was hoping for some idea how to stop the crashes in W patch.

had another crash. Since you asked us to post these... here ya go. Sorry, I tried to get the technical data. I tried; but it wouldn't let me show the background so I could paste this image, then copy the technical. I had to choose one or the other. Since this is the one you asked for, I figured it was more important.

This time; I was in MP again, in the STCCb server. 20 drivers. Had it in window mode again, but had just gone to full screen (cause sound was playing up and everything was jerky). Then it crashed. I guess it overloaded or something, and doesn't like working in windowed mode with large numbers of players. (Both crashes had alot of players.)

Hi,

Not sure if this has been reported yet. But Sometimes the sound disappears, and when you try to reinitialise it with shift-w, it tries but just gives a clicking sound. I'm using headphones if that helps, though I doubt it does. The sound just goes wierd scratchy, then won't come back without going back to menu.

Hey Scawen;

I had a crash today with Patch Update 0.5W. The new auto updated one.

I was in Multiplayer race (Redline Racing 2), spectating with about 20 cars in I spose. I was at the chicane in AS2, in Shift U cam mode, just watching tyre deformation, trying to get a few pics. Then it crashed. It might take a minute to show the pic, crappy server. Oh; I was also watching in window mode. Here's the report:

I think your being a bit harsh on him/them. They seem to be kids. Kids do silly things; thats true.. but they can be pointed to the correct direction without abuse. These days it seems; people have less patience and are too quick to jump on someone rather than give them some help. Jumping on someone never solves anything. You catch more flies with honey.

As for anyone who wants help though I'm not fast lol; my server is happy to help anyone who really wants/needs it. Venus Racing. Also use formula Xr; but when its the other name; I'm much more open to making a track/car conducive to helping someone.

Well; I don't know about others. But these are the settings I use:

Options/Misc. Smoothing set to max 0.90
Options/Controls:
Controller Wheel turns: 180 deg
Wheel turn compensation: Full 1:00

Steering lock varies between 9-16 deg. In the Fox I use 10 (at as2), in the UF1000 at SO5 I use 12. XFG BL1 is 16.

I'm not fast; but I can keep the car pretty much pointed where I want it (though once you get past 180 deg of car wheel; wheel turn is more sudden n harder to finess.

As for deadzone; I'd love to add some deadzone; particularly in the centre. But as for car going straight. Really there's only one option. Toe In. Typically; I'll use -0.1 to -0.2, unless it will slow me down too much; then I live with the wandering.

Some of the fast guys configs would help alot... anyone?

About the only diesel I would think might be acceptable; would be trucks. I don't mean those things americans call trucks the rest of us call utes. lol I mean big prime movers. Now that for racing; would be alot of fun.

Here's a suggestion:

Could you give us the ability to save outlap data from multiplayer replays please? Some of my best laps are done in MP; and there's no way to view the outlap data.

Another thing about hotlaps; is it'd be great (If the internet connection is active) if we can have access to the /w pb and /w wr info. Or at least have it displayed somewhere on the screen. PB is less important; but WR would be useful.

One thing I would LOVE to see. The head automatically turns with the wheel. In a real car; on a tight corner; you often end up looking out the side window at the apex. I'd love to see that implemented in this. So my point of view not only moves forward backward with acceleration etc; but also side to side with steering; just like in real life.


Bit of a wish would be; and automatic download of WR replays. . Asking alot I know; but it'd be nice...

I did get a lock up once... just rebootted... I only just installed the patch but so far no problem.

I had the traffic approaching sign too. It was a 3 player race on SO Town with UF1000. I just spun. The others were right behind; I waited till they passed; had problem starting.. so was 2-3 seconds before getting away. There was no one else behind me; I took off; then the traffic graphic popped up. It only lasted a few seconds. It shouldn't have come up (or should've come up when I spun). Either way; its not operating correctly. Just so you know.

As allready stated.. its a racing simulator, not a street simulator. Consider yourself lucky the devs added a couple of street like cars and a street like track...

If you really want to be listened to, and have your suggestions noted; I'd suggest get S2 and support your fav game.

I don't know why ppl use mouse over joystick. Simply cause in joystick you have analogue control of throttle n brake. I spose its possible to do that with a mouse ; but jeez it'd be a pain. I wanna wheel... desperately.

yeh I don't doubt you can be quick. As for get a wheel... sigh... if I could afford a wheel, I'd get one lol... as it is, I'm lucky if I can afford food tomorrow (and thats the truth). lol

You should've given the both option.

I respect anyone who is friendly, and a good clean racer. I try my hardest to race fairly and cleanly. Yes its annoying if you get tapped. I completely have no time for someone who has no patience (even if you have a blue flag), and tips you off rather than wait a corner so you can let them pass.

As far as I'm concerned; any drivers who treat everyone with the same good grace and friendliness deserves respect. Those who don't, I have no time for.

Respect certainly won't make you faster; but it will win you more friends, and more help when you need it, but mostly, it will give an enjoyable time within the game; and thats why we play it. <Steps off soapbox>

We hear so much about wheels, but not all of us can afford them. So I'm wondering how many fast guys are out there using joysticks, and what type of settings they use. Also, how they find using it in terms of lap times. I mostly race fox at as2, and i'm about 1.8 off WR sometimes it seems so hard to get the car through the first part of the chicane to make the apex. I have to use over half wheel turn (in car), while I notice most wheel users are using less than half; some only use a quarter. Obviously this is about controller setup.

Cause steering is so quick with most setups, I have to run smoothing at max, and steering lock between 9-16 deg (depending on car - 10 in the fox). Any more, and the steering is too quick to finess.

So I'm curious how some of you other joystick users fair.

I noticed before becoming a member, images are viewable within a message; and after, only through links. A friend of mine just joined, and has had the same problem.

Could this be fixed please? Be so nice to have images displayed within the text of the message. Then you know people see them, rather than hoping they click on the link.

Hi,

Fixed the problem. It was caused by a corrupted ban file in the misc folder. I'm member of wrecker barricade, and somehow, by updating the ban file with ban editor; corrupted it. That caused it to refuse to start.

Thank KMSpeed. You suggestion, pointed me to a method to solve it.
