lol be alot of annoyed ppl in spectate i can imagine lol...
Anyway, another suggestion.. lol
How about a championship mode. Where points are awarded for a race, and next race takes place on diffnt track same car. Insim could keep track of points, and reset them every year so u don't end up with ppl who buy lfs early, end up with huge amounts of points. Or every month/quarter etc. In the server list, it'd allow us to search for champ mode races.
I often think, I do all these races, and wot for? apart for fun lol... It would also help teams run championships.
In Patch W41, or probably earlier. You allowed false starts. If this gets implemented into the next main patch, its going to cause mayhem at starts, with people constantly getting false starts. Yes they have to put up with the penalty, but I suspect what will happen, is a whole bunch of ppl will start demanding restarts, not to mention the mayhem caused by false start cars rushing thru a standing grid causing crashes. I thought the old setup was the best option, sure not real, but these sorts of problems rarely arose.
I'm sorry, but it hasn't been fixed. In 0.5W I get it even when I'm alone on a track as I said; so it can't be caused by skin downloading since no one is joining and I'm alone. It happens when there's alot of players, and when I'm alone. Alot of other people have the same problem. I've not noticed any link to the pits, or people joining, cause as I said, it even happens when I'm alone. Its caused by my hard disk doing stuff... I'm not convinced its an LFS problem though, but alot seem to think so. I get a similar problem in windows when the hdd becomes active. I thought it was the page file, but its not - I disabled it, doesn't change it.
Obviously you don't have this problem cue ball, so its understandable you'd think its fixed. Its annoying cause I didn't used to have it either. I just think, they need to take this seriously, and find out once and for all whether its being caused by LFS or not. Its alot worse when LFS is running.

I just downloaded patch W41, so I hope that might have a solution.
I too get this, and its bloody annoying. It never used to be like this, and I'm NOT using a patch. I'm on standard 0.5W. It annoys the hell out of me. I get it most on AS2, in the fox. Suddenly it temporarily freezes for a second or 2, and the sound stutters badly, n gradually improves. If it happens on a bend, it always makes me crash cause by the time it comes back, the cars in the wall.
I thought it was the page file causing it, but it isn't. It never occurrec on my old hard disk. Scawen, can you please look into this, its getting to be I can finish only a few of my races because of it. It happens anywhere on Aston Club. Not noticed it else where, and doesn't matter how many are there. I even get it alone. I'm sorry, but this is rapidly becoming unacceptable, and unusable for MP. All it does is makes me angry.
Suggestion for improvement. Would it be possible to allow a warm up lap? or allow a server to choose if they want it? Cold tyres cause so many crashes. And its standard practise in real racing.
Question about the patches: I want to install the latest patch. But I'm concerned about whether the I'll still be able to join all the same servers using 0.5W. Someone know the answer to this? Also, does the latest patch include all the previous ones?
I've not noticed any problems with the suspension in VDA in the fox compared to in car in game. My setup says it has slight oversteer, and bit more oversteer when lifting throttle in tightening bend, bit understeer coasting in. This is pretty much how the car actually behaves in my setup.
I don't mean use VDA as name lol that'd be no good at all, who would know wot it was unless they downloaded it. I think Kaynes idea of Vehicle Dynamic Analyser is a cool name.
yeh he did... but hamilton was right up his butt all the way... though it was very interesting alonso stamped his authority clearly during middle stint with fastest lap. lol great race for monaco... usually its boring.
welcome to forum... heaps info here... but pls, do a lil search b4 posting lol... most things have been suggested before multiple times. Bikes won't be added nytime for obvious physic reasons, as much as i'd love it.
I'm all for adding birds... well, I'd like to see the appropriate animals added to the appropriate track. Pigeons/seaguls/cats (1) to SO. n on the other tracks, just some stereotypical birds. SO needs something specific though since its a city scene.
First, can you fix it so that the "Name List" does not disappear when I bring up the / talk window to kick someone. If I click on their name, in W vers, I can't edit before their name to add kick/ban etc. If the name list is up when I hit / then I can do it in the talk window.
Second: I'd hate to have some lag limiting added to servers. You'd basically knock all of australia off most of the servers. Most of us here have between 250-390 ping to decent overseas servers (european) american ping too high mostly. There are only 2-3 racing servers (my own discounted) for australia, most of them are drifter ones (puke). I think locking us out of european servers from lag, would probably take alot of ppl out of LFS. It'd take me out. Yes it would be server initialted, but most servers would set a min ping to be 250-300 and that knocks out most australians. I'd hope you'd think very carefully before initiating that, there's alot of gamers here into racing.
ok, think I've found a solution guys. Its not LFS. Its windows xp's virtual memory. Specifically, its windows writing the page file. Thats whats going on with the hdd going off. IF, and only IF you have heaps of memory (RAM), 700+ u can try it with 500+ but.... what you do, is go to control panel/system/advanced/performance settings. Down the bottom, you see Virtual Memory. Click on change. Set it to No Page File. Then apply. You will have to reboot.
Whats the effect? Ok, well its going to slow down some of your windows operations, which is fine if your playing LFS. The stutter stops. If you want it to be faster in windows after playing LFS, set it back to System Managed, or custom n pick ur page file size.
On 786mb ram, I only notice a slight decrease in performance in windows, without LFS being run. So I'm going to leave it this way. IN LFS. I don't get any stutter anymore... because what was causing it was the hard drive constantly going off.... it doesn't do that anymore

[Edit] This does fix the problem, but you still may experience the odd stutter after doing an Alt Tab, or possibly on a large grid where you are at the back. On the whole, it fixes it well, and have only had 2 occurences of it since, compared to every 5 minutes before. If you have alot of mem, more than me, then it should fix it completely. Pls, if you only have 256m of ram, don't even bother trying this.
No, it doesn't affect it at all. Either way. So I'd say put it back to normal... high doesn't do a thing.
OK. This is some of the things I've tried to fix this.
I thought it might be a problem with time sync between clock time n cpu clock. Check ur sync by dbl click ur clock, click internet zone... updater on either server, you'll see it won't sync, you get an error. The first server isn't there (no ping) and it can't talk to 2nd server. Its caused by the w32time service not working in manage computer.
MS does have a way to get it to verify its sync from the net in its knowledgebase, which requires a lil registry tweaking. Well, I did that. Nothing.. still doesn't help, so its not sync.
I made sure I was fully updated on xp. Didn't help.
I did a spyware scan, didn't help.
I doubt its a virus, cause we'd all have to have it, and my windows is a fresh copy, but a virus scan is my next option though reluctant cause it takes hours.
I fiddled with my performance and virtual memory options, but that didn't help either. (System)
I'm not sure its an LFS problem. I get the same stutter, crackles in windows even when lfs isn't loaded. The real annoying part is before my hdd shat itself, I didn't have this problem. This started from the moment I put LFS on the fresh system. So its possible it could be LFS relatred. I won't discount it, exactly because it started from installing lfs. I'm running W vers, no patches.
In LFS. I tried setting Minimum Sleep to 4, but that didn't help either.
Anyone having any success here at all? If we all docoument in here what you did, to try to fix it, we might just track the mother down. I also updated my acpi driver which was a suggestion from somewhere. Didn't help.
I think the VHPA is a bit too umm how can I say this... nerdy. lol
How about Racers Performance Analyser, or
Racing Setup Analyser, or
Race Car Analyser
Racing Handling & Performance Analyser or Analysis.
Vehicle sounds a little bit too much like its govermental.
The name needs Sizzle, and hard core info to impress exactly what its for.
Get too techy with the name, and it'll scare people off who don't know too much about it. Hell, the program would scare alot of ppl from first look, but when u look deeper, its quite intuitive.
Regarding the stutter. I'm not too sure its an LFS problem. I had no stutter problems with my lfs before my hdd blew up and I lost everything. After reinstall on diffnt hard disk. I have real problems with stutter; but it also exists in windows xp even when lfs isn't loaded. I get the same temporary freezing, the same sound stutters. Its exactly the same as it is in LFS. So I tend to think its a windows problem. Its being caused by something almost constantly accessing the hard drive; but there's nothing there. Even now its whirring away, and there's nothing loaded. I've set windows for performace, disabled all the visual helps, tried to fiddle with the virtual mem, but that doesn't help. I even tried getting my clock sync'd by making some registry changes to w32time in registry.
The only thing I can think of is its the swap file, but I have gobs of mem (786mb) and the swap file is only 1150mb. With nothing loaded, the hdd shouldn't be going mad. I did comp sci at uni, and I know this isnt' normal. So damned if I know, I'm just sure its not an LFS problem.
View: Can you get rid of the problem when I hit N to centre my virtual clocks, and the name list comes up. When there's alot in the race, it fills up too much of screen. It needs to be viewable, but can we have another key that sets the clocks position, or an option in options that lets us choose whether we want them to the side, or together in centre bottom.
Can you remove the lap reset if you go to pits. I think its a good thing if you shift S from the track. But if you drive into pit, and into garage, it shouldn't reset the laps you've done. Sometimes you find you've just got the wrong setup or something. In real racing, you can go to the garage with no penalty, if you can get out again b4 the guy behind u catches up, you keep your position (unlikely though).
I would love to see some atmosphere in the game. Stands, crowds... flag waving... some cheering sounds (specially at end). It'd just add some atmosphere that its missing.
