Quote from Macfox :On the minimising topic. Is this a client thing? Like when it connects/server list tec. If so there's an option already to stop that. It needed for possible firewall/Internet connection dialogs that popup in the background on first sign of internet traffic.

No, its when you are in a server, or in single player, in a race. For no reason, it just drops to windows (as if I've pressed Alt Tab) and I've not touched the keyboard (using my joystick). Its really very annoying, and I can't see why its doing it.

Another thing. I have mine set to full screen. But it seems whether its full screen or windowed when I load it, is a lottery. I'd love that fixed too pls.

Something I'd love to see.

The ability for a host to create a script/table. With acceptable lap times for there server. Anyone who does a laptime below that over 3 laps (3 cause, 1 might be an accident, 2 might be accident, but not 3) is kicked automatically by the server (not the host). It would get rid of alot of the trouble.

Here's one I've not seen before.

Colour code the map in MP games, so it shows diffnt colours for top 10. So people know when the front runners are coming behind them.

Give us a load setup, that only shows the selected car on the selected track, but give us the option to load a car from a different track.

Fix the bug that causes it to auto minimise whenever the CD spins up (for whatever reason it does).

Could someone point me to the program that allows hosts to display live timings and race control messages. ie things like "Great split by whoever xxx etc

Quote from mrodgers :Not for everyone. It's definitely not faster for me having the rear end swinging back and forth down the straight section like a pendulum.

I like a little loose rear end (that sounds different than I mean, LOL), but some of the inferno sets are crazy loose and undrivable for many folks, both FWD's and RWD's.

The manual lays it out clearly.

Its all about managing a springed mass. Springs support the mass of the car. Dampers control the movement of that mass on the springs. If its too wallowy, then the dampers will control it. Bump Dampers control it when springs are under compression, and rebound dampers control it when its 'rebounding' from that compression. You basically set the dampers up to give you the feel you like with the mass. Then balance the car (oversteer/understeer) by adjusting the antiroll bars. If you want more info. Read the Basic Setup guide in the manual. Then read the advanced. You'll then understand it all

N just so you remember. to Induce:

Oversteer: Rear: Soften Front: Stiffen

Understeer: Rear: Stiffen Front: Soften

No, its faster. Because you don't have the rear sliding out washing off speed, which you then have to add more friction to to overcome it whic washes off even more speed. If the car turns in, with just a 'slight' ammount of oversteer. Its facing the right direction out of the turn automatically without sliding and without losing speed due to extra friction.

One of the graphics issues I have. Is the black sparklies all over the track at spots. Its probably more my vid card (Gforce2 bleh), but it'd be nice if there was a way to get rid of the damn things.

Quote from DarwinAce :multichannel audio

you see, in a reall car, the sound doesn't come from the front.... as it would in most computer and even in the most advanced and expensive simulators...., it comes from all around you, the engine humms in front, you can feel the exhaust pipe under your seat... and the noise comes from the back... multichannel audio for some other games haven't solved this... simulating the rear exhaust noise by muffling the sound like you would hear in a real car doesn't work either.... real multichannel should send loads of noise to the rear channel (wich should be placed facing backwards), simulating the real situation of a racing or street car. You might want to switch your big front speakers to the rear now

It allready has that. All you need do is use headphones. It gives full holophonic sound, and any sound can be precisely pinpointed in the space around you. Including a passing car. You hear it coming, and know what clock position he is from you just from the sound of his approaching car. I'm surprised all gamers don't use them just for that.

Also.. add removal of the damn automatic minimisation of LFS to windows pls.

Well, ok in leagues I can see it as a legitimage issue. However, in the public servers. It could ruin our fun, and drastically reduce the number of servers if alot of servers change over to wheel only. I dunno, add a league thing or something that allows leagues to do it, but not in public. As I said, adding in discrimination because of a persons financial resources sux, and that is the issue. Everyone would love a good wheel, but not all of us can afford it. I'd hate to think I bought your product, only to be locked out of servers cause of this.

I'd like to see a camera director. Always showing the action. ie whose passing who, crashes etc. Like in the GP series. Be difficult to do in multiplayer tho. WOuld be great if it could be done MP.
Auto Minimisation

There's a really annoying bug. The game minimises by itself, and goes back to windows. Really gets on my nerves when ur in teh middle of a close fought race. Can you fix this please?

I just think since I bought S2. I should be able to host demo or S2 and have the same capabilities of banning etc that I do in S2. Obviously the only thing that needs changing is when S2 is in demo mode. The same abilities S2 should apply in demo mode.

Thanks KMSpeed. That works nicely

Actually, in front wheel drive, your better off stiffening your rear settings. If the car is wallowing alot, ie rolling alot, increase your rear dampers to cut some of it out. That will get rid of your oversteer. If you want to have it understeer more, or its not wallowing, then stiffen your antiroll bar. If its just the wheel is turning too violently, then go to Options/Misc/Analogue Smoothing and increase that slider. Further to right = smoother.

The reason its better to stiffen the rear rather than the front, is you need a stiffer front for good turn in, on entry. This of course causes oversteer, but you can dial that out by softening rear. The result. A car that turns in nicely, yet is tidy thru apex and exit.

I hate the idea of convertables. The UF1000 looks just silly. Who would think of having a soft top mini as a race car lol... Its allready got the drag of a brick.

Plus there;s the obvious thing. This is a race sim, not a Street Racing sim. So it should stay true to that, and the cars added should reflect that. Personally, there are alot more interesting race cars to add, rather than some "Pretty" street cars. Its all just eye candy. Who needs it.

Quote from al heeley :
1) Go into the options menu where you can rename each of the 12 a.i. drivers.
2) Give them all names.
3) Go to Garage.
4) Click New colour scheme button, name it exactly the same as the name you gave your first driver.
5) Then select the skin texture you want that driver to use.
6) Repeat for each named a.i. driver.

That doesn't work. I tried that, but it only changes your skin. Even if you create an alternate colour scheme, then select AI, go to garage n select Ai colour scheme, it just changes your colour scheme. Not the players. You miss a step or something?

Game code refers to the license you choose in your server settings, versus the licence you choose to connect to your server through. They should both be the same. ie S2, S1 or demo. I had the same problem. Easy fixed.

If you want an easier way to run your host, try DediGui, its a great tool that makes it easily changable. However it doesn't allow all options, such as Race messages.

Decrease some of your LOD settings in Options/Gfx. That'll help alot. Especially Mirror, who needs high LOD in thier mirror. lol The top one controls track n car. So you'll get your most gain by reducing that.

Quote from bbman :NONE of the damage (apart from aerodynamic damage through changing body panels - too a degree though) should be repaired! (Obviously, we need an improved damage system for that...) If you crash, tough...

Solution: Don't crash!

That's a simplistic very view. Not all crashes are caused by you. Especially if someone is pissed off. Or think its ok to push ppl off the track for a position.

The world is not black and white!

Well if that ever happened. Then I'd like the option to only show Pure servers. In fact, on that topic. I'd like to see a favourites added.

I'd like to see the ability to block a particular person. The game definitely needs the ability to whisper to someone.

Sort of agree with u... but I'd change it to only repair if running gear damaged. Screw the body.

Tell you something I'd like to see. Your not gonna like this. lol

I'd like to see the spacing between cars on the grid even wider, and more staggered. In an attempt to get rid of, once and for all, the first corner blues. You'll always have the wanker trying to win the race on the first corner, but if your all spread out further. Then all you need is few extra laps to make up the extra distance the spacing caused.

Problem reduced. Never solved.

Well I don't know how you see its expensive. In Australian dollars, its $20-$40 cheaper than most new games, that don't deliver half of what LFS does.

I just bought S2. And I don't have much money to spare, but I considered it an absolute bargain, and worth every single penny. Definitely no buy regret here.
