I'd kill for an option that allowed servers to force spectate those who cause crashes. Bloody hard to code something like that, god knows how you'd do it, but jeez it'd be nice. MIght actually make ppl think more.

Please, can you add a command for both servers and single player to get rid of an AI please? There's one to add one, but not one to remove one, or all. They can be removed of course with end race, but I don't want to have to end a good race, just to remove an AI.

Thanks

Quote from RevengeR :Low fps, or some random screen freezes. No matter how many players are in the server, nor what graphics is LFS running at. Sound starts to pop, LFS shows its running at 80-120 fps, but its more likely 10-20 in-game. Started doing this like 2 days ago, still couldnt find out why.
And the best is that it only does it in dangerous corners, like SO1 chicane, or at starts. Could finish like 2 races out of 10 on CTRA last night, it really drives my crazy.

Thats caused by hdd being too slow. I had the same problem, fast hdd solved the whole issue, n never had it since.

Most embarrasing thing I ever did, was I was racing the fox on redline on as2 while still rather noobish. I ended up on pole, with 23 cars in the race. I made a great start, but the entire time up the straight, all I could think about was 23 cars behind me n the pressure got to me n I spun it on T1. lol Definitely the most embarrasing ever. lol

Follow what they said about braking an exits.

As for power thru the corner, especially T1 and last corner, the fox has a tendancy to spin if u apply power, but u can prevent that by adding a lil counter steering AS you add power, then turn back to steer out.

As for the chicane, the correct line is quite simple. Run your right front tyre over the colour change, then along the inside (left) side of it. So you turn in, cross over the colour change, and aim to put ur right wheel right on the border of the colour change.

In the last corner braking zone, take a tight entry (there are many lines into there) but make sure ur wheel is dead straight during braking (make sure u don't run up the outside curb). That will reduce your braking distance cause it'll prevent the front right locking up under braking. On T1, add power just at/after apex, in the last corner, add it when the white tent comes into view. You can do it earlier but its not easy. You get it all right, you should be in low 101's or better.

Best option is simply reinstall. Should fix it.

What connection do you have? if your on dialup or have high ping (400+) to the server your connecting to, then u'll get alot of drop outs. I ping mostly international servers at about 380 on avg on adsl. It usually will not connect first time, but will 2nd n once connected is very stable. New vid card helped it alot in many ways.

If you are using a router (broadband modem) then you might want to check port forwarding, though I doubt very much that would hinder u since you are connecting.
I suspect its slow net speed though or high ping.

Quote from jimmytwohand :
Well previously i was doing well if my rubber lasted 12 laps but i think most of the wear is coming from the above braking zone problem. Ill give it a try in conjunction with braking practice and try to kill two birds with one fox.

Hey Jimmy,

Your rubber issues are due to one thing... stop sliding into corners under braking. Brake a lil earlier, n keep the car stable into apex, it gives you alot faster exit (n thats more important than braking) and your rubber lasts much longer. My rubber will last at least 60 laps if I don't slide. However I do know you have gotten alot faster since you wrote this, hopefully you've fixed that issue, but i think I remmeber you still slide. lol

you need the track files. I can't remember what they are called, but if u do a seach for analayse for speed, you should come across them. They are essential for AoS. And no, I don't mean the LFS track files lol.

Hang on lemme look.... its .smx files you need. One for each track.

Here you go, you can get them here... someone didn't read it all properly did they hmmm? lol

It might be your router is blocking it. But even so, you shouldn't get that error. Obviously your net works. Personally, I use dedigui, its a much easier way of running a dedicated server, and allows you to quickly point n click to make changes to your server.

Try that, see if it helps.

Gears won't work
Venus

Hi,

My gears won't work. My wheel (logitech wingman formula force) paddles won't select gears, nor will the keyboard controls z, x. They are both set in control options, I've recalibrated, reloaded, rebooted, reinitialised controller, but nothing will get my gears back. Anyone have any idea on how I can fix this? Seems like LFS is just not accepting any input from my paddles or the z x keys... or any keys for that matter.

Hope someone can help.

I came accross it in google vid too... looking for vids of sim racing... n found the STCC series vids... soon as i watched that, I put lfs into google n downloaded it immediately Never regretted it since

recallibrate your controller. It happens sometimes. Easily fixed.

Also don't forget to tell lfs what goes with what axis. ie steering - axis x, thr axis y etc

Its your frame rate. Its probably too low. Best thing to do is update your vid card. However, if the sound is stuttering, and the gfx freezing, thats different issue... for me it was hdd was too slow (but it also occurs in windows).

Well, the reason I asked was because my wheel has both USB and serial connectors. I figured yours was the same.

Quote from MadMac :p5srono , I've been somewhat in a similar situation, albeit for different reasons(Don't want to race online until I can set a reasonable pace consistently.)

There is one big problem with this method. Online, you will meet people who will give you tips on how to go faster. Also, you get to watch fast guys race, and save replays of them... that alone is a great learning tool. But asking ppl for setups and help is the best way, and the online community is extremely friendly n happy to share setups and sometimes tips.

Don't wait, jump in. Its the fastest way to learn. Also, you won't learn a thing from AI.

Sure... here it is... click on setups, click on download all setups (top of wot looks like minefield)

Personally, I would never buy a used account. You have no idea how many times the guy has sold it before, or who else has access to it. I'm sorry but I wouldn't trust anyone with that. lol

This could be done by layering the tyre skin with 3-4 layers, which as the tyre wears, the top ones gradually become more transparent revealing the next layer (texture) which would show some wear. It could also have another layer showing graining. Its about the only way you could do it really.

I don't know if any of you ever played Grand Prix 2. There was an edit program you could download for that, which allowed you complete control of the skills of the AI drivers and cars. The only thing you couldn't change was their agressiveness.

Yes it does. Try braking on the first corner curb on Aston Club in fox.

I had this problem. It appeared after my hard disk totalled itself, and I put an old one in I had. Problem was the old hdd was too slow, and it couldn't keep up with windows demands. New hard disk with fast access times, solved the whole problem in LFS.

The other thing I tried b4 I worked out what was causing it on mine, was changing the page file size. The reason I did this, was because I was getting the same problem in LFS and in windows. In that case, it was the hdd causing it. Was crap lol

The easiest way to run a server is to just download a copy of Dedigui, and use that. Its simply run it, click on the options you want, type in server name pswds etc n click start n ur away.

Put dedigui in google.

Alot of you seem not to be able to connect. If you have a 3rd party firewall, either add lfs, or kill it. Then make sure windows firewall is 'actually' off. (sometimes it lies, there's another option to turn it off completely).

If thats not the problem. Do you have broadband through a Modem Router? If so, you may need to setup port forwarding within the routers setup page (usually http://192.168.1.1) then go to: http://portforwarding.com

And select your router from the list, next select Live for Speed, then follow the instructions -exactly-! That should solve your problems. Alot of can't connects are cause the routers firewall is preventing the connection, port forwarding bypasses this, by allowing you to set 'allowed connections'.

I have that wheel too, but I use it on USB and it works beautifully. I'm surprised you can get it to work at all on serial. My old joystick wouldn't work on serial, that was logictech wingman too. Why don't you use USB?

Check out the lfs desktop, all the world records for all tracks / cars are there. Regardless of how fast you go, or want to go... having a measure to compare yourself to is good... however be warned, you might find out something you didn't want to know lol...
