Any host I goto watch that has about 20+ or so people driving, I see the 2sec skips with cars not driving on the right line. Last night I watched the LOTA race that had a large grid, it was skippy, and also some other Spanish league I think it was... also skippy.
Tomorrow's MoE 24 hour race might be skippy I take it
I dunno, that's something Phil would need to look at.
I was going to have one, but it's too much of a hassle to make a nice one this close to the race. Tonight I'll be adding more content on the right, so the site is more of a portal for useful links and tools for teams and viewers during the race.
Can edit your post and re-attach the skin? I edited your post earlier because you used [IMG] tags, and that is not needed. Right now it is still the old one in this post. You can either upload it to these forums as an attachment, or give a download link.
I've had quite a few projects behind the scenes, and we (admins) decided to update the site to something that we can all easily edit and post info on. Came up with the simplest solution to get something up and running, and for now, this is a temporary site with basic functions and design. I would've liked to have had tons of surprises long before this 24 hour race, but they will come after I'm afraid . Some parts of the site are not fully developed, I will be adding more things before and during the 24 hour race. I am sure some browsers will act a little funky viewing it, but it's not any of our worries right now... just as long as it works.
Stay tuned for all the new stuff and goodies, and enjoy the new site. We hope it helps you guys with necessary information, and is more pleasing to the eye.
I doubt it is a real car that was used to race, but I could be wrong.
I've seen many 'formula' mock-ups as a kid and still to this day, and they are usually some 3rd party fiberglass shell slapped on an incomplete chassis, or something that pieces of a car built by just the photo company or museum.
It is no doubt based off a real car, but looks like a modified shell for photography purposes (hence the absence of mirrors, old wheels, and blocked off bits)
No matter what, there will always be a credits hack used to obtain cars, so there is always a way around it.
However, I don't mind having to unlock cars based on tests. If we had to do a whole new set of training lessons (which hopefully gets revamped for S2 Final), then I wouldn't mind. It wouldn't be THAT hard. But the only thing that strongly disagrees of this entire idea is the fact that you can always choose any car you want and have fun with it, one reason S1 scrapped the credit system all together. But that was primarily for testing physics of specific cars. So I suppose S2 Final could bring it back.
No matter what, that is only for online, and doesn't prevent people from driving any car freely on other widely used servers, or offline. And I doubt CTRA will have EVERY car in the line of license progression, it just wouldn't be needed IMO.
If this is a case of noobs using a BF1 for example, training lessons would at least bring forward a bit more knowledge of the car(s) when it is time for them to get online.
What I think the system needs is to have Licensed and Un-Licensed modes on the server. So you could still go on an un-licensed server and race any car that is available. It would just be up to the server admin to have this setting.
We would still remind the following teams that they need to post their driver lineup for this race before the deadline!!! (Friday 16:00 CET / 15:00 UTC)
GT1
3 - Mercury GT1
4 - F1RST
10 - Pedal to the Metal
14 - Infinity Skills
16 - spdoRacing
18 - Bandelnet Racing Team
21 - Serbian Racing Team
There have never been official names of the turns given AFAIK.... not even turn numbers. Except of course, Scawen has mentioned the usual "Turn 1", but that is referring to accidents .
That voting site was a good idea at first, but improper direction, poor naming conventions, and stages of the project weren't well thought out. It could very well come back, but it needs to go in stages... track by track, one configuration at a time. There also needed to be other ways of voting for or against someone's idea with the ability to type your reasoning. Reverse configs were never taken into account, and the number of corners was up to the site holders -- leaving what would be judged as two corners, only 1 corner for example (or vice versa).
Without all of this, it was just a naming freeforall, and uninventive as well as unoriginal names were just voted highest on so many tracks. Pretty much one of the big reasons it is no longer around.
But like I said, it could come back, it just needs to be more of a progessive project. Was one of the best community collaboration projects I've seen.
The only thing that justifies LFS having a new/updated BF1 is if they get another deal with Intel or similar. They don't just go and make the updated model as they please.
I highly doubt we will ever see LFS used again so it can score another deal, since it requires Intel or the-like to have another gaming competition or promotion.
So the 2 year old, poor gripped, grooved tyred, plain looking, 200mph r/c sounding BMW F1.06 in LFS will remain as is, no doubt about that. Unless they can find a better deal to scrap the F1.06 alltogether.... and I'd take a 2009+ era slick tyred F1 car any day.
I know all this sandpit stuff is a real "kick in the teeth" for your car, but we have got no solution to it when the drivetrains are already permanent in the game.
If we really wanted to, I think we'd make the FXR rear wheel drive in a heartbeat, but we simply cannot. The FXR is always the lone car, either highly neglected, or highly rewarded for its strengths and weaknesses. What you view as being a very large strength in recovery does indeed hold truth, but we cannot do much about it.
All this reminds me of seeing two different car types go off at the hairpin/turn 2 at Laguna Seca.... A BMW 3 coupe got stuck, the Audi A4 did this:
(best 3 shots I could photograph -- and this all happened in an instant)
Though, even a real AWD racecar could still get stuck in deep sand, this is just another typical issue with LFS, the sand traps have always been too forgiving for nearly every car.
Sorry Paul, but my point is that you've got to work with what you have, these kinds of inconsistencies are in nearly every real racing series. And we don't have the option to ban AWD this late in the season .
Scawen hasn't balanced the car in Patch Y, only made it worse again.
Scrapping a year's worth of online handicaps and suddenly having slightly different revs & shifting methods doesn't magically make the cars balanced. Scawen, will surely do a run-through again to re-balance. And yet again, if you go with stock patch settings, you get 3 different cars all at entirely different paces.
MoE chose 15kg to be added to the FZR, and even that is not enough in my opinion...
I have updated the first post with teams that have made their nominations/posts for this race. All teams NOT shown in bold still need to post their driver nominations by Friday, 16:00 CET (15:00 UCT). I will update the list daily, so don't worry if you don't see your team's name in bold after you post .
