Yes a lot of the tracks are too fast in LFS, which I really dislike. I like more variety and plenty more slow/technical sections in a track, but we really don't have much of that with the S2 tracks.

Some people will lag, some people will be spectated, that's the way it is. If your time can't be within the fastest time by at least 20% (?), you will be taken off the course.

Narrow yes, but they were passing like crazy. Good racing! Would celebrate who won, but that would be a spoiler.

Quote from al heeley :yeah I'm just waiting for all the lawsuit summons to arrive on my mat....

I know people create skins with such logos Al, but:
Quote from thisnameistaken :You should read the rules, Al - your entry isn't valid if you've got uncleared commercial logos in there.

Exactly my point . I would've thought Al would follow the rules

So does Al Heeley have clearance for those decals on his skins? (Elf, Champion, 3M, Magnetti Marelli, Bridgestone, Apexi, etc) :zombie:

Quote from Motörhead V8 :*dreaming*

hey, if BMW use LFS to train their drivers, maybe there is a chance to get some real tracks on LFS

LFS would never be used to train real F1 drivers. The BF1 is terrible in LFS. I know Timo Glock played LFS, and gave some postive comments, but he said it wasn't like the real thing (obvious being that it slides too much and bumps are too extreme).

You will do a solo run on the auto-x course for as many times as you want... but there is a waiting line you'll have to be in before it is your turn.

There will be 3 different auto-x courses, 1 each week.

Quote from Trekkerfahrer :Link 1: What has an Oval with a Motorway to do?

Link 6: Totally away from my thread....

Maybe YOU should read before getting angry....

so back to reality

i would like to see my suggestion cause german motorways are very fast and maybe a part of a german motorway can be part of the game

I am not angry at all. The overall concept of 'your idea' is that you have this top speed testing track, and every single one of those threads relates to that. Every time someone posts a thread that they want to test top speeds, it goes kaput with comments. If you think about top speed testing in LFS, it is incredibly boring and has no purpose because we have predefined cars that cannot be modified to shoot for 'speed records'. In the end, someone would just find the max speed for every car, and that doesn't really have any good use to all of us other than a statistic. In S1, the AU1 lot was able to be hopped out and you could drive for several miles in empty space to try and get to top speed. Wasn't anything special after a few minutes, and that is about it. And with a top speed setup from testing, there is nothing we'd be able to apply it to. It doesn't help for gear ratios either, since gear ratios are specific to each track. Doesn't help with aero or anything else as well.

LFS Tweak will only get you to a certain speed before LFS resets you... so nothing special there either. For racing it would just be worse than the oval in both excitement & skill (lack thereof).

Quote from Hankstar :Despite those examples not being exactly the same as your idea, the point is that the idea of a very long straight track to test top speeds has already been suggested (more than once), hence Tweak's suggestion not just to search for existing threads, but also to read the posts in those threads to get an idea of what people think of the suggestion. You could've saved yourself some time FYI: LFS'ers generally don't really see the need for a huge long test area, especially since there's only one guy who makes the tracks and we all want much more interesting things from him .

What's wrong with adding your idea to a thread that's similar anyway?

:iagree:

Been wanting to get back into flight sims, but don't have a joystick. Guys, is a force feedback joystick really all that useful? Other than feeling the proper forces from resistance and other shakey bits that could save your plane, wouldn't just a decent spring non-ff joystick do fine in sims like LOMAC and IL-2? I want to get those 2 games, but not really digging the need to have a FF joystick for some reason. Just some normal Logitech joystick for $40. Because finally I have a nice PC to play LOMAC!

Will definitely get my hands on RBR too

Is this a smoking ban for just restaraunts/pubs/bars? We've had a smoking ban here in California for several years in restaraunts only, and it is great to be honest. I am not a smoker, and have a friend that smokes... so I am somewhat used to the stench and dirty air. But when it comes to that junk floating around when you are trying to eat, eughhh. Much better with the law in place.

I am pretty sure this has already been suggested 100+ times. Don't know how you couldn't find results when you searched.

Searched threads for "top speed":

Some people just prefer to use it to fine tune any minor understeering issues. Because as you turn at slow speeds (where caster is noticed the most), you should be able to tune caster in order to give a better 'loose' feeling when turning in a slow corner. You will find hotlappers do this just to gain a bit of time in the slow spots. For example on Aston National, the tight set of two corners is crucial for time gain in a GTR car, so you will notice a bit less than maximum caster on hotlaps setups. It is better than having to lower your overall camber, because that would hurt your highspeed cornering. I think caster helps the most for FWD cars, where you need to feel loose and flat to get the power down... because excessive camber while accelerating/exiting a corner, not good. Also the higher the caster, the most pesky the steering becomes with its sensitivity at slow speeds (In other words, the highest you go, you will find a quicker grip-loss point as you turn the wheel farther and farther.... whereas lower caster it will be more gradual transfer into understeer the more you turn the wheel to its extreme, conserving the tires).

Pretty nice. Would like to see it with a black wing instead (FZR), and not use the "old" LFS logo set.

The majority of fast drivers will know a thing or two about car control, and thus be seen as a good driver all around. Only a few times here and there do you get some fast drivers who race really dirty... and it wouldn't be CD's system at fault. Still something simple to be dealt with via an admin.

I know there are consistent and fair drivers that a few seconds off pace, but I think their idea is that you can get access to CD2 purely because that is the "pro" level, as stated.

LFS S3 [41%]??????

S3? Come on now. iRacing will definitely be out before then, maybe even Racing Legends

To be honest, I think BHM get a bit sarcastic in terms of LFS development... thus the "S3" instead of S2. Not that it is wrong to do so, kind of funny considering how long it is taking for S2 (3 years now).

Quote from Jakg :XP 32-bit (and Vista) supports 4 GB of Memory Minus Stuff like Cache, GFX memory etc usually giving you 3.5 GB of RAM

No they don't!

Trust me, you need 64-bit OS for anythign above 2.75gb. Been there done that. If you run 32-bit, the OS will ONLY recognize 2.75gb, and not use all your memory address space.

There is only a hack out there for the Boot.ini which will get your measely 32-bit OS to get to 3gb and that is it. Nothing higher.

XP is dated back to year 2001, when memory requirements were not nearly as high as 2 or 3gb, and never been updated since. 64-bit is only way to take advantage of using more memory. Something Microsoft is VERY far behind in because even a decent Apple computer can utilize 4gb minimum.
