Was cool, but I found the plot to be really short and uninteresting. (Deathproof).

It's all for the action/chase scenes anyways....

Once you have LFSJoin installed, the url would be something like this:

lfs://|%28FM%29+OvaL+JuNkIeS%21|0|S2|/

--- Server name actually looks like this in game (FM) OvaL JuNkIeS!

(taken from LFSWorld, just go on LFSW and find the name of your host, and copy the join link from that)

FZR looks good with black rear wing.

XFR should keep a white wing Looking good!

Whoah, havent been following MotoGP, and I normally do. Stoner won the title? Good for him. In the beginning of the season Ducatis seemed quite fast.

I think 'technical' is put to the test if you have a track that is something like that of Fern Bay where you have very small straights, a tight track, bumps, rises, etc....

Personally I think the only technical tracks in LFS are Fern Bay and South City. I believe it was Fetzo that explained he still prefers the S1 tracks over the newer S2 tracks, and I agree with that... because I prefer technical tracks more than anything. Just because you drive on the limit (at the oval?) doesn't mean it is necessarily technical. I think what most of us are looking for is a track that is very enjoyable with regard to how active you are in the car while driving. And quite frankly, all the S2 tracks (KY, AS, WE) have NOT given me the best impression of a technical track. They are very wide/broad tracks, smooth, and have very little tight sections or fun chicane complexes. They are just one corner after the other, with a sense of 'break time' in between... leaving no rapid connection of technical driving at all (ok, there can be some exceptions with straightaways being a common piece of a track, however, it is too common and relaxed even when you try for a world record. There is just too much time to setup for corners on the S2 tracks (IMO, the S2 tracks are intended for the BF1, but they still need more slow sections)).

No wonder why so many people want a Nordschleife type track, or apline backroads course... it is because those tracks deliver the most excitement for a lot of drivers. It's obvious if you have a beatiful sports car and you see a nice open twisty country road... your reaction will be to enjoy that drive because it feels so untouched and you can thrash the car around however you feel like it. Now with respect to racing, a technical track would be very intense against other opponents, but that is not to say passing would be impossible, it would probably be very fun to maintain the limit on a track like I've described. So, the S2 tracks we have hardly give me any enjoyment in the racing, and there could really still be some improvements made to them in my opinion.

I feel that a technical track also involves very technical braking, cornering, and overall a very active and CONSTANT on the limit drive.

If I could, I would've voted for Longer Tracks also, but it was only a single choice. I don't care of the track is long or short, I just really would like it to have some very good sequence of corners and complexes that make it very technical. Even if we had a tarmac version of Fern Bay RallyX Green... I would deem that a very good technical track simply because it starts with a very tight entry into the very tight esses which have high bumpy curbs, leading to quite a bit of bumpy surfacing and a hop/jump which leads to an immediate right hand turn. In a sense that track already poses a significant technical challenge in only 30 some-odd seconds. If we had a track with a bunch more sections like that, I would be in heaven.

That is going a bit too far with some pretty simplistic merchandise.... or any future kind for that matter.

Almost like a Ford Racing game where a driver can wear all Ford apparel  LFS should just have proper racing suits. Can we buy an LFS racing suit from the shop?

Still could use a bit more curvature on the sidewall and leading up to the shoulder blocks.

Very nice so far

Quote from ajp71 :I know pictures will never show a monitor properly but is there a reason why the sky is bright white and blacks aren't as black as on the small CRT (or TFT I'm not sure?) monitor sitting next to it?

@Tiny - I'm going for this

You're going to regret having a Sony tube, trust me. Especially if used!

And actually, I am using a P1100 as I speak. This thing is going in the attic when my new screen comes in next week... sigh of relief!!

Thx guys, and Happy Anniversary!!! I am glad you guys are still around and providing this hemisphere with great racing in our timezones, nothing else matches up to LOTA for North America.

It has been a while since I've last driven competitively (LOTA, then 24h MOE race)... and I do feel like I want to make a comeback, but I am really waiting for LFS to change in any way shape or form, just so it can invite me back with ease, rather than knowing I'll be coming back to age old stuff . Because it would be fun to have newer tracks to compete on, you know? Just getting old for me I guess. But I do have hopes to come back!!!

Just not right away. Keep it up, and hopefully you can find some new stars from North America!

Quote from Whisper :I actually forgot about this place until maybe a few days ago. Lack of new content is really starting to dry me up.

But I've been passing my time driving around on a real track. However the season is pretty much over for me, so now I need a sim to keep satisfying my cravings until next spring.

Quote from Fetzo :s1 tracks and s1 cars are still my favourites. i am bored for a very very long time now.

Quote from SabersKunk :Some new content would be nice....

Pretty much sums it up for me!!!

Passing my time with other games, and other things. As for the forums? I am trying to stay away from here more than ever, I just don't find anything interesting here anymore other than the few odd skins I look for. All else is just junking this place up .

Was there anything special that happened in the race?

I opted not to stay up late and watch it live, simply because I had a feeling that the Qualifying results would just reflect the finishing positions anyways.... and sure enough, they were the same... so the race wasn't all that interesting was it? Just people staying in front and no passing?

Just wondering if it is worth it to download the race footage.

Yeah NoGrip is the best one I find. They are the ones that have the 'illegal' conversions that rFactorcentral and RSC don't allow.

Solberg may be fast next year, you never know. Subaru will have a new car, remember that (the hatchback style everyone else uses, which seems to be better)

Another thing to realize is that a lot of people that play this game are not quick learners, nor do they have the 'greatest' skill in learning how-to race properly. Or just not natural to driving a car. It all comes down to car control, and face it, there just aren't 'tons' of decent drivers to go around in racing simulations. Many people like the game, love cars, but they don't really have the greatest intention of racing properly, they have their own style. Not being told they are doing it 'wrong' is another problem, so you cannot really find the people that need help --- The people that need help, come for help... because they know their racing can improve. A very small percentage of players online actually feel this way I am sure, and they'd love to have such a school. But there are tons of others that just want the game to play, and go racing how they see fit. Or even if they cannot control a car and cause a nightmare on a server without knowing they are doing something bad

Such a school would really improve people's racecraft, that is what you should teach. You really just cannot instruct someone how-to DRIVE properly without being there in person in my opinion. Telling someone the steps to take a corner, it just puts a complex checklist in their head, and they don't focus on the simple things. You are just better off having a trainee get behind the wheel and practice practice practice. Maybe even on a difficult Auto-X course, so they learn better car control at times when they need it most (e.g. sudden oversteer).

I wish Aussies or vice versa didn't have to be alienated with such an idea, it's a real shame... because say if Germany vs Australia was in the semi-finals (and I am sure it would be), you wouldn't want some laggy racing.

That is one of the reasons Nationscup never hit it's mark; also because of timezone issues, which impacts race days immensely.

I've actually always wanted to see an A1GP style league, where ALL 30+ countries race at once, with the FO8's only (and full skinpack), since it is a very balanced car, and good with racing. Though, if you wanted, I guess you could choose different cartypes for each race, so that drivers from each country could get a chance (because there may be one fast driver in open wheelers, and one fast in FWD).

Still, timezones and times for races are the biggest issue, and there is no real way around that, other than hoping your country can stay up REALLY late/early on a weekend. This cannot always be the case, even for a country's fastest driver(s), so some countries would have to make ends meet just by filling in the blanks for time issues. That's not the way it should be.

That said, yeah you could split up different hemispheres in the first half of the season, but then that doesn't leave a fair elimination when the two hemispheres meet. They'd need to be racing against each other from the day it starts, until they are out. So I think you should stick to only a few continents unfortuneately. .

Europe being the most dominant, Aussies would surely need to be the ones driving late But then that just brings up yet another obvious issue....

Yeah after I learned how the game worked, I now know not to start with crap drivers and teams to try and save money. All those who bought Hamilton really lucked out I wish the game had a little bit more added on the things to buy, maybe a sponsor.... like the main sponsor each team uses (eg Marlboro, Petronas, Vodafone, Red Bull, ING, etc).

Had a bit of fun online. But the car understeers soooo much, kinds feels like FWD then RWD if you try to make it slide.

1:38.5xx for me on the Sprint course after 30 mins, but man.... people online really race dirty Fun teaser game to say the least. I haven't played with it much so far.

Bilstein and no aids.

How will McLaren results be affected? Do the points/money earned have anything to do with Constructor Points? (eg McLaren ) Or is it just purely race results.

Lies!!!!!

Ferrari = Italian Mafia

They setup McLaren with 'documents' and now their competition have been taken out. j/k?

Well hey, Dennis still denies that McLaren used any of the data or whatever was in the documents... Who to believe...

There are so many things people have tried with a racing school.... but have they ever succeeded? So many ideas, and so much time involved to teach people something (especially ONE trainee), there are just too many drivers to go around that need help with driving.

To be honest, I see the best way of learning by self-practice and just instructional videos. I know some people have made videos, and they were instructional at best, but not very complete for any particular area of teaching.

There is lots to cover when it comes to training, and videos are easiest for everyone. Don't waste time and energy on trying to do live instruction with other drivers, it is just too difficult. Drivers need to learn on their own time, in Singleplayer/Hotlapping to become a consistent driver, as well practice with a medium-sized grid online. Because there are so many situations in racing that you just CANNOT do by "simulation" on your own server. You have to put a driver into the mess of racing and let them learn from there. Real driving schools do this a lot... just countless free-for-all runs. Though they do also tune 2 of the same cars, with one being a bit slower so they can practice overtaking.

Also, to learn, you need to make sure you teach people not to choose ONE car to "love". Players need to try new things so they understand all kinds of cartypes and how they go about controlling them. Otherwise, they will just be a typical amateur that only chooses one car (eg FOX), and cannot even drive an XRG quick enough.

Best way I learned back in S1 was by choosing a car that was the hardest and most difficult. The LX6. I stuck with learning that car for months on end, all by myself, up until I got my first World Record, I knew the practice had payed off. Then I went and beat one of Flotch's RB4 rally records on my first couple tries. It shocked me, but I knew I was getting faster. Then the MRT came out, and that was a very good training tool for racing side-by-side online. I'd choose a program such as this... Start with a hard car a driver dislikes using, become fast in it, try it online against other drivers..., then start with a new car.

I think their punishment will probably be disallowing McLaren to be in the manufacturers championship. I don't think the drivers should be penalized, the manufacturer should.

If they take out the team this close to the end of the season, WOW really crap to be honest. Ferrari still have a chance. Maybe they will not allow McLaren to participate at some race(s) . Only 4 left though, and I really want to see a good fight at the new Spa.

BTW, Notice all the press photos of the team owners and managers at these hearings.... McLaren have upset expressions, Ferrari are smiling gleefully.

But LOL @ Mosley:
McLaren interrupted Max's prune-nut-bread breakfast with this whole mess, he's maaaddddd
