Hmmm new noseart (and nose shape) is quite nice on the BMW. A lot more like a BMW F1 should look. Somehow it reminds me of 'FILA' though, I don't know why.

But wow, some kind of 3-layer front wing? Looks like those renders you get on those official F1 posters.

I think BMW will have a better car this year. Looks great.

Yeah no Prodrive entry at all, and confirmed by the guys themselves. A shame... would've liked to see a new team in the mix. But I guess Force India is a force to be reckoned with!!!!

Quote from Mazz4200 :The V1 Racing site is up and running now http://www.v1racer.com/ and is accepting entries to their racing programme.

Have to say it looks a very professional outfit, these guys mean business.

+ our man Scawen can be seen in the full promo vid (get a haircut, hippy )

So if you think you've got what it takes to make it as a real world racing driver then sign up and get practicing.

Good luck !

Wow cool thanks for the link. Looks like it is going to be starting very soon And it gives a nice link to LFS on their site! + a hotlap competition! oh my.... Even Scawen is on the video

Keep in mind we have seen the fastest possible times with the XRR currently, since Bawbag and Jonesy are probably the only ones capable of showing us what its potential is. We still have yet to see even the fastest times done by SK, #low (ID), etc. What's to say they can't get a faster time, or even adjust their setup for added weight (eg. ballast location).

Aston GP is a big track, and laptimes can vary so much because getting a good lap in requires all corners/sectors are perfect. But this balancing isn't just for Aston GP. Think about BLGP & KYN.

Quote from Neokiller :Don’t forget that both cars have advantages and disadvantages taking one advantage from the FZR isn’t faire in my personal opinion

Sure, but the XRR is still not faster than the FZR+20kg. To counter that, the XRR does a few laps more per stint than the FZR.

So what is the advantage we are taking away from the FZR? And why would we need to decrease the weight, let alone remove all of it, to only make the laptime gap even larger?

If we just suddenly took off this weight and made NO EFFORT to make sure these cars are balanced, then we'd be ruining the most important race of MoE's season, and we don't want that. Even though the other races are as equally as important (and BLGP FZR will surely win, even with +20kg). We can't just throw this all away... especially when we have NOT seen very good support from many other FZR teams in this balancing project of ours since Patch Y release. And for Vykos to have the nerve and finally come in here and say it is not good when his team hasn't even said a single word this entire time... ???. Whether or not you guys like to keep your mouths shut for 2 weeks of secrecy or just don't want to help at all, that's your problem to come in with a week to go and complain. We have enough evidence that the cars can be equal for a long endurance race, unless proven otherwise in the next day or two until a decision is made final.

@Jay & Dreaf: The XRR cannot do 30 lap stints at fast pace, 28 lap stints are its safest bet with mid to high 2:39's average -- if pushing hard, a blowout on 28 laps is possible for them. The one-odd 2:38 for an XRR is very rare -- and a few low 2:39's. Jay's 2:39 laps are very low ones, and he starts to get them after the 1/4 mark in his stint... and for the rest of the stint mostly. Give us more records of stints with +20kg, and we'll be more than happy to look at them.

I don't think it will happen, and don't want it to happen.

What will happen to Sony Playstation products if Microsoft buy them? What will happen to our choices of Microsoft or Logitech gaming peripherals? No fun if it is all by Microsoft, hmpffff.

Quote from Shotglass :if your 500hp car sounds and shifts like a lorry whats the point of having one?

Heard the R8 at Laguna Seca, and it sounded fine. A beefy grumble to it actually. Maybe not as loud and ear screeching as a Ferrari or Maserati, but it isn't as quiet as you might think.

And actually, even the R10 TDI that was racing that night wasn't even that loud, if not equal or less in volume to that of the R8 roadcar.

Beautiful car, loved seeing it up close. I am liking the V12 concept there, hot stuff.

All of Subaru's new lineup, 2007 and 2008+, are horrible. They all have sort of a 'Camry' cheapish style to them, big plastic pieces which supossedly try to emulate metal and nice materials. The interiors of all the new Subarus are also horrible as well. I was shopping around with cars with my friend, and they are by far the cheapest interiors I've been in, EVEN for their nice Legacy model, which is the only design I like on the outside. The buttons and knobs are all cheap feeling, and very lame in my opinion. When testing the feel of the interiors as a passenger, I already opened a broken/flimsy glovebox in the Impreza, and the knobs on the radio felt loose and not very 'solid'.

It's a shame because even though Subarus are in no way 'luxury', these new models just strike me as being very poor. It is also said that they are not doing very well in sales, despite getting 'good reviews' for some specific models. These new models have made it clear that they cannot make their cars any more premium... I always thought Subaru was going to get better in the future... but they've gone backwards. For example, look at Saturn how they used to be uber shitty, and now they've grown up to make some pretty nice looking vehicles.

As for the WRX STi Impreza... still lame, no matter what version it is. The interior is not like the old STi was, and it doesn't strike me as anything with performance.

If you are unsure, even after calculating the time difference, you can always go on our IRC channel (#moe on gamsurge) several hours ahead of time and ask on IRC how long until the qualifying starts... Those guys on IRC man... they have nothing better to do

Unfortuneately, Patch Y only allows you to use the H-Shifter in cars that actually have the H-shifter in the car. One of these things that try to get the realism... even with the contoller you are using :zombie:.

Basically, the FXR and XRR are sequential, and you cannot use the H-Shifter mode because of this. Go into the garage and you'll see what kind of gearbox they have. The same applies for any other car with only a sequential gearbox. Any other car in LFS that has a normal road/h-shift gearbox can use your g25 shifter just fine.

Sucks I know... and quite frankly, this is one area I think Scawen just went a bit too far with the GTR cars in Patch Y.

Quote from beefyman666 :People who use other software can tell you how it's done.

Usually it is visible in other software. Best way to tell people is to just select the default skin that was placed on the topmost layer, and look around for the word "Normal" in a dropdown menu. Select "Multiply", and tada . Usually that option is visible somewhere by default.

I know this sounds a bit odd at first, but I've been thinking about how you really accept each nation's drivers for the races.

If you think about it, each nation wants to compete with their fastest drivers. But what if some average/amatuer drivers want to participate? They will surely be counted out, and wont have the opportunity to race. Why not make a division of fast drivers and a division of amateur drivers. Though this idea would make it harder to manage, I think it would give everyone the chance to help their country's points!

If each country has enough entries, everyone willling to participate in the given combo would qualify for their country. The fastest drivers for Country A would have to choose one driver for the race with the pro division 1. And the amateur drivers of Country A (those who qualify with slower times) would have to choose a driver for the amateur division 2.

How the points would be tabulated, I am not exactly sure. Either add up division 1 & 2's points together to get the countries results. Or run two divisions seperately for points.
-----------------

The only reason I bring this up is because I remember so many people that signed up for their country in the Nations Cup, and they didn't get a chance to drive simply because they were slow, and only the fastest ones had the chance (and usually only 2 or 3 fast ones countries want to use). Other people should at least get the chance to help.

OR

How about a rule for how many times one driver can drive for their country? This would allow an even distribution to who gets to race, so it isn't 100% Bawbag domination from Scotland so-to-speak . If one fast driver was only allowed 2 or 3 races, then other people could get a chance, and the country will have to figure out strategy for what combos people can prepare for. Works much better this way.

What am I wrong about NIKI? All I ask is that you guys post times instead of giving us no information at all. Especially you.

If you guys test with these settings, please post here what kind of times you get in hotlapping/qualifying, and in any longer stints tests. Otherwise, (like for the FZR) saying any of these weights are "too much" or "too little" does us NO good at all in making a decision.

Seems the overall target is that both the GT1 XRR and FZR needs to be in the 2:39's on average for race pace. And in GT2, 2:49's for a quick time I presume.

If Ferrari's car is good, Kimi and Massa will be winning outright. But I still believe Hamilton has the capability of winning a title. His car just better be good then. I don't think Heikki will do very good. To me, he will be like the Massa /w Schumi combo back then. But I'd be impressed if he was kicking some A!

On the subject of displays, I noticed this one from Samsung:

http://www.engadget.com/2008/0 ... -2263dx-22-7-ubisync-lcd/

It is a 22' LCD with a swiveling sort of secondary 7' mini-display.

If you look in this picture, it can be placed above the monitor. Would be cool if you get get a lot of these little screens and make them your mirrors in LFS . Specifically the one on the top to be your primary rear view mirror, would work great.
