Too many kiddie gamers, spitting out their dummies, thinking they are owed something, mouthing off about getting fed up with waiting.

IMO LFS is not or ever has been delayed, thats just how/what LFS is, a superior product, because Scawen works to a quality level above that of other larger SW houses, and only releases updates when he's happy they achieve the expected level.
I don't get why people waste their time coming here to say "I got so fed up I've gone to iracing" or whatever, if you want to spend many times the amount of money you would on LFS to play the arguably "not as good" iracing just go do it already, no need to come here and shout about it, do they all go to iracing forums and post how good they think it is? no because some people only know how to complain, you bunch of "glass is half empty" pessimists.
If/when the next version of LFS is released, they will all come flooding back lol

As already said, its ready when its ready!

Proud supporter of LFS

Apologies for getting it wrong, Yes I remember seeing something like that logo. and defo remember the logo comp
My memorys not what it it used to be
Thats got me wondering why/how/who did name the project "LiveForSpeed" my guess is it must have been Scawen, possibly even in his Lionhead days, who first thought it up?

Servers running fine, the auto restart is very short (around 45s,even thos its set to 1min) and thats not enough time for us UF1 driving "old duffers" to pop to the loo every few races

And the races seem very short also, yes even in the tiny cars, but thats IMO
Back to the driving

Hi billium-sherlock, if you click "shifter" in your ss that should allow you to use hte shifter properly, I also noticed it shows "2 controllers connected" this may or may not cause you probs

Does the slider (RZ Axis) move when you press the clutch and release?

EDIT: Looked at the pic again I think your clutch should be set to axis 3 not 4 (only when you have both controllers plugged in mind)

Quote from FF30 :Hello All.
I bought LFS a little bit before Christmas, and I've played around on it since. I haven't spent much time learning the tracks.
I also race on iRacing, and I use a logitech G27 to race with.
I haven't raced online, mainly because of not knowing most of the tracks, and I'm kindof afraid of racing online, I just don't want to mess up and make somebody mad at me.

Welcome to LFS

Don't be afraid to come online and join in the fun

Many servers offer great racing in the "slower" road cars (XFG, XRG, UF1) These are very forgiving to drive and we have players/drivers of all ranges of experiance, competing together on some of the more busy servers.

Join the server and say Hi, let peeps know you are new to LFS. I feel confidant saying that if you ask for help, someone will send you a nice setup ingame, and maybe give you some tips to get you started.

Press number 4 to toggle the "racing line" to help you learn the tracks faster, just don't forget to turn it off after a few laps

Press T to chat ingame, and press N to see the players connected.

If you see me in a server I will always go out of my way to help new racers, so just ask

Sounds good fun I wll defo give this a go.

I don't think SO Chicaine is that long a track, It might be interesting to include another short AS or FE track like FE green or AS Club.

I totally agree with Henrico, that the "easyer to drive" cars make for the closest racing

And no points or ranks to worry about, just arrive and drive, I like it!

It is more of a TV than a PC monitor/display, most TV's run between 30 & 50Hz some have the 100hz "flicker free" feature, but thats just a sales ploy, as most TV is broadcats at 25 or 30fps (visually I've not been able to tell the difference between 50 and 100hz (on a TV))

Its nice to use a TV as a PC display, but for quality PC gaming, I would think its all about native resolution and response time, LFS looks great at higher res with AA +AF, but many GFX cards cannot push 60fps @1920x1200 with full AA.

It could be that you have joined a server running a 3rd party statistics recording/server management app (airio)

Not all servers run this and many demo servers will just allow you to connect and race normally, can you remember the name of the server?

Just incase your having trouble getting to the multiplayer lobby (list of servers) and trying to unlock LFS, you need to start LFS, click Multiplayer, click Display list of hosts, then click on the name of any server in the list, then click GO in the next screen to join the server.

good luck.

another setting that effects what you see is the F O V setting (keys 5 & 6 ingame)

I personally have the Acceleration shifts viewpoint setting switched off, as I tend to bobble my head about anyway

so, can't be the cable or the modem

it is all new

Just to be clear, did an engeneer come and replace you cable modem?, so its a new different modem from the one you were using when the problem started?

Are you the only person on your network? or do you have other people in your house connecting to the same LAN ?

Great idea by Madcat, now that your conn is wireless you could even connect from a neighbours via laptop and check this problem (just ask them to install the demo for a quick test, they might become hooked on LFS.)

Good luck

Hi

Of course in the demo the best way is to just put /cars XFG+XRG

if you were running a S2 dedi server you could play with....

/cars XFG+XRG+XRT+RB4+FXO+LX4+LX6+MRT+UF1+UFR+XFR+XRR+FXR+FZ5+FZR+RAC

or you could try /cars ALL-BF1

Read this thread just a few down from yours... http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=64658

Good luck

Quote from matijapkc :SD, if you disable all except essential prcesses, you can get some errors. Once I closed an process which was running under my name, not SYSTEM, after that, I had problems. Some stuff wasn't opening, Internet sucked, there were errors everywhere. I wouldn't touch some processes which I don't what they are.
Take a look at my running processes list. http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/5788/processes.gif

Yes I understand that, however as a test if you disable all, and the problem resolves, then you can re-enable all and start closing one by one, to find the culprit, I wasn't talking about services, just startup apps I think Ruben's problem could be anything from a BIOS setting to, damaged cable to simple overheating, I believe in trying to rule things out to get closer to the problem, its never easy on a forum to get an exact idea whats going on. a bit like a detective game

The other problm is everyones HW and SW is different, from what I've read in this thread, I imagine Ruben has other games on his PC and I would bet not all are "paid for" so his machine could be infected with all sorts of stuff too

I agree Jason, with HDMI connection I think 1280x720 would be Logitek25s best option, while the 1920x1080 should work, it will be compressed by the TV due to it not supporting 1080p by default (not enough pixels)

Just out of interest, why are you not using the vga connector Logitek?
As Jason says you should be able to use the vga (meant for PC) connection and run at 1360 or1366x768 or even 1440X900

Did the TV come with a CD disc? because if you can get hold of the monitor.inf file for that specific TV it should make changing resolutions a breeze.

Good Luck.

I don't have so many thing in the Startup to config, but i've choosen only what is necessary to me, and it is the same... :\

When you say necessary, do you mean essential?

have you tested with everything in the startup list disabled as I suggested in #17?

feel if your cable modem is overheating? has it been rebooted recently? could there be any damage to any of the cables? or a loose connection. Check to see if the cable modems manufacturer has released any firmware updates?

Good luck.

You do not need the profiler to use the G25

latest software is here, it may also contain the dreaded profiler.

HI Whiskey, No no mods at all, my win7 lfs is in its own folder on the desktop, was fresh from version Z and I told Z28 to install in the same location. I don't use the ATI CCC just the display driver, my next step will be to install the latest update to the drives.

Up until today I had no issues at all either, the only thing I have done differently today is; I resized the LFS window, by dragging the corner, I don't know if this is related or if my system just developed some kind of glitch, thats why I ran the dxdiag tests without restarting.

The lfs crash may well never happen again, but I posted here just in case someone else has similar probs.

Knowing my luck it will probably be another dodgy sata cable or some other non lfs related thing

SD.

EDIT: Hi Shadowww, you posted while I was typing you think I might have a directX prob?

Not sure if this if anyone can reproduce this but it happened to me twice tonight, still looking into what might have caused this.

spectating in a 1/4 full server, pressed shift+F4 to return from full screen (1920x1200) to windowed mode, no other programs running.

recieved error message "LFS.exe has stopped working" then window closes

heres the problem data:

ATI Radeon 4870 Driver ver: 8.632.1.2000 all 32 and 64bit dxdiag tests pass.

This may or may not be a problem limited to my PC but I thought I would post here anyway as I could not find anything about this when searching.

Still trying to find a way to reproduce this.

These "ranked/points to unlock cars" servers also skew the ingame car filters as in 3J's example above, if you are new to IHR server, even tho you have the TBO filter on in LFS lobby, you are not allowed to drive TBO as an unranked player.

Quote from 510N3D :Well, one could argue if the drift that he'd pulled off comming out of T1 was actually the beginning of a whole series of contacts.

While being right behind him, you where braking but at some point, for some reason stopped braking for a second and then applied the throttle again for another second or so. I would say that at this point, you where simple too quick and thus responsible, period. Anyway, the contact you two had was infact nothing more than race incident in my opinion.

What I found sucked most was him then standing at a very crucial part of the track and having a cry about it.

I agree that Iceman was going too fast and agressive and clipped Zazzn from the back in a line of traffic, should have been more carefull, especially on lap1.

However that is not a ban worthy offence alone, IMO.

I believe an idea like this could theoretically work for LFS, but I also think it would just turn it into an Iracing clone, and I know alot of people including myself, who refuse to pay monthly for a computer game (even tho LFS is more to me than just another PC game)
I know peeps who pay for WoW monthly, the kind who spend most of their time sitting infront of the PC (eating quick junk food and getting fat )

One of the attractions of LFS is/was that you could pay for parts, S1 for just £12,
at the time I pre-paid for S1, PC games were £30+ in the shops and S1 was way better than most driving sims back then, when S2 came around spending another £12 was very easy and again well worth it IMO
The very idea of single price, play forever means I can take months off and I don't waste money.
Lets say if/when S3Alpha comes about, if it was priced at £24 I would gladly pay it without hesitation, pay once play forever, I think many others who don't like the monthly idea would too!

Like Zeug I love LFS, but if pay to play is introduced I would have to think long and hard before I signed up.

I do pay for the hi res skins (around £1 every 2-4 months approx) and don't mind paying for this, I would probably pay a little more if it was required
