AU1 Scaletrix Layouts 2, 3, 4 and 5

More layouts based on same basic design.....

Layouts 3 and 4 very similar - I just moved chicane a bit.

For those that are able to drift, the layouts should be ok.

I read what you had about dx11, but does dxdiag actually say you have dx11 installed, and on the 'Display' tab, does it show 'no problems found' in the Notes section at the bottom?

The other question would be; did LFS run ok before you installed FC4?

Maybe that's the failsafe for cutting the engine?

I've seen a few Grand Prix were the drivers were told off for using brake and throttle together, but that's probably just because the driver has had his foot sitting on the brake pedal not realising it's been pressed down slightly. And likely some drivers in some circumstances will drive with full throttle but still brake slightly in bends and corners to help with load transfer, etc.

Maybe deliberately pressing both fully together is the trigger for the cut-off.

Run dxdiag to see which version of dx you have.

Normally you get updated directx via windows updates, or its usually bundled with all the big games.

Another Blackwood layout, but much bigger than my previous one.

Given it similar name, although this one is for BL1Y.

Easy enough to copy and rename as BL1R and/or BL1X if you want these layout configurations.

Run this layout on my server as a 5 lap sprint, but very few people bothered to finish all 5 laps, so now set as 3 lap sprint.

Best times recorded shown in images ...

... 1 image shows the fastest time for each car ,and other image shows top 18 quickest laps overall.

If you're wondering why my times are shown in different background colour to other drivers, its because my insim ('lapper') shows the person viewing !top list in lighter colour - makes it easier to spot your own name.
[BL1R] Blackwood Cruise (Short Commute)

For a bit of fun, made a small cruise layout for Blackwood Reverse.

Small - for those only used to doing short journeys or haven't got all day.

Includes roundabouts, crossings, pedestrian 'islands', areas marked out for Bank, Market, Post Office, FedEx office, etc.

Really nice layout, which I really like.

However, few things...

...if I was to use this on my server, a lot of drivers would just ignore the chicane near the end (before the hairpin), by crossing the checkpoint and immediately swerve right ignoring totally the first turn by heading for the second. They would also shortcut some other corners.

This is especially true where you use an InSim to record lap times. Most drivers will follow your route, but some will just want to show on top of score sheet, and so will try find where they can cut corners.

On open layouts like this, best to use invisible marshalls to stop drivers cutting corners too much, and to use route markers to make sure they actually follow the route you meant (see attached example).

Also, if using checkpoints on open layout, why make them so big? This allows drivers to take routes outwith track and still hit checkpoint. Use the W and E keys to make them just wide enough to cover width of track.

If running out of objects, where you have a long wall of long barriers, try swapping some of them for the longer armco barriers. You could try barrier - armco - barrier - armco - barrier, etc. If you used them at the spawn point leading to the your start, you could save about 4 objects (some of which [speed humps] I've used at the first chicane corner [in first image]).

Hope you didn't mind the comments I made!

Just watched the race someone uploaded onto Youtube - quite exciting, and way better than the 1st race in China.

Bit silly that the organisers picked the same weekend as the final F1 race.

Was hoping the women drivers would do better this race, but not to be.

Quote from Sasho99 :i have s2 men , i have win it of demo server for use this account for 2 years , please send me one cruise layout for blackwood i really need it if you don't beleive me see my s2 acc - WINNA_Nubbins_AU_RACEME

If you have more than demo license then you should be able to make your own cruise layout - it's basically just putting barriers in middle of road with the occasional arrow to help people to know which way to go. Bit of trial and error, and some suggestions from others users on your server, and it's that easy.

And please don't say you don't have experience - no layout makers had it when they started. They just spent some time at it. And don't say you're not good at it. If you're not willing to put in the effort to learn, why should any one else help?

PS If you want to stop the doubters believing you don't have a S2 license, why don't you just use that instead of using a demo account?

Why would a S1/S2 license holder want to use a demo account here on the forum anyway? Maybe you could explain to make someone like me understand?

Quote from Gutholz :sinanju, your layouts are great but ..... so many random messages and icons popping up, it blocks view and is too irritating.....

On a single display, you wouldn't have this problem, as all the InSim "stuff" appears as far left and right as I can place them in the allowed 200 wide InSim window.

Looks like you're using at least 2 monitors, with the problem that the InSim "stuff" that is placed on the right hand side of the left hand screen, is appearing in the correct place if it was a single screen, except because you have a screen to the right of the screen with the text on it, everything on right hand side of the left hand screen looks like it's in the middle.

I suspect (now) that if you had a triple display setup, the InSim and LFS text would all appear on the left and right sides of the middle display, which would make it much better arrangement to 2 screens.

I get what you say, although some people like single laps as it lets them adjust their car settings after each lap, rather than at end of session. Others because if they crash or make big mistake, quicker to start again.

Each to their own.

Normally, when I use AutoX layouts on my server, I only do single lap times/drift scores from standing start.

On the layouts I've put on this forum, it's easy enough to just edit the layout and change laps=1 to laps=n (where n = however many you want).

I've attached layout where Livingston B Reverse has been edited for 5 lap run. I've also made couple of cosmetic changes to layout.

I'm now using this on my server (Sin'rs) to see what people think of the 5 laps instead of normal single lap format.

Couple of AU1 Autocross Layouts - Livingston A, and Livingston B.

Also supplied B in reverse format.

'A' is the short layout, and 'B' is the extended layout.

Track is at least 45ft/14m wide, so lots of space, however some of the turns are bit tight, although I have seen some skillful drifters getting round really well.

Caterham (or at least the Administrators) have finally made the majority of their staff redundant - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/30074346.

Still looks like they're going to be at Abu Dhabi, although nothing on who will actually drive the cars.

Abu Dhabi is on same weekend as Formula E race, so don't suppose any of these drivers will be swapping over.

Maybe Toto will pay for his wife Susie to drive as an early xmas present?

What happens when you have people cutting multiple turns multiple times?

Say you're on your 3rd warning for turn 1, 1st for turn 2, ok for turn 3, 1st for turn 4, ok turn 5, 5th on the chicane, etc, etc? Get a bit hard for driver to remember penalty qty for specific corners - especially on long races.

Isn't it not better to just have a penalty marker circle a bit within the track boundary, which allows a driver to put a wheel a little off track, but not excessively so, and this will (maybe eventually) teach drivers to respect the track boundaries.

Once drivers get spec'd few times for cutting corners, they either learn rules - or leave server!

However, I do like your idea for a circle object that you can bind an InSim command to (chat, action, etc), as currently you can only use a square x,y zone. Would also make it so much easier to place rather than try have to work out coordinates.

You are not allowed to edit / mod the shape of the cars.

The CMX viewer is used for viewing car 'skins'.

If you have S1 or S2 license, best you log into forum using the user name you chose for the license, and not a demo account, else everyone will think you are a hacker, especially asking the questions you did.

If you're using Nvidia graphix card, you could try any or all of the following;

Right click desktop, click "NVIDIA Control Panel". Under "Select a Task..." on left hand side, should be an option for "Stereoscopic 3D", then "Set up stereoscopic 3D". Make sure that, on right hand side, the "Enable stereoscopic 3D" box has not been ticked.

Go to Start, click "All Programs", scroll to "NVIDIA Corporation", open "3D Vision" folder, and click "Disable 3D Vision".

Go to Control Panel, search for "NVIDIA 3D Vision Controller Driver 344.46", and uninstall. Also uninstall "NVIDIA 3D Vision Driver 344.48" (your version numbers may differ from mine).

If not using Nvidia, what kind of GPU card are you using? What kind of operating system?

The best way to race the AI players is to put on the AI race line (press 4 key until Green line appears).

The AI players will follow this line. They will go full speed where line is green, lift/slow when the line goes yellow, and brake when line changes to red. So if you stay off this line, or are at least aware of it, you can allow for it and you'll likely not be bumped as much.

Fairly simple layout suitable for all cars, and wide enough for drifting.

From over 170 completed laps, which were done online on my server (Sin'rs), best times for slowest and quickest cars were;

. UF1 62.71 seconds ([><]Sinanju),
. BF1 48.42 seconds (Slidaaaa).

Edit: Other versions available in posts below.
