It's not the driver that decides your framerate. It's true that, as time passes, drivers get better and may slightly increase your fps. But, only your 3D settings dictate the actual fps that you will get. The higher settings you run on, the lower your fps. If you set your 3D settings to minimum, you will get 100fps guaranteed. So open up Catalyst Control Center and play with the 3D settings slider. Also, try the latest drivers from http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx first, there have been a lot of improvements since your driver was released. If you don't like them, you can always uninstall them.

It's an old card though, I'm wondering about how much life it has left in it. If it were me, I'd go for the a new card, not an old card. But in the end, it all depends on your budget. It would be tough to compare the 7900GT to the 4670. The 7900 was a top of the line card, whereas the 4670 is a mid range card. But mid range cards have improved so dramatically over the years that today's mid range cards are as good as last year's top of the line cards (more or less).

To get around this time zone problem, I simply cheat the system. I live my life according to London time (GMT). That way, I can see the most number of people online at any given time. It has it's downsides, such as girls looking at you weird when you tell them your bedtime is midnight (7pm local time), and it doesn't allow you to work a normal job, maybe newspaper deliveryman at best cause they always deliver before sunrise. All in all, it's worth it for a die-hard LFS fan on the wrong side of the planet.

Get the .exe version for 32-bit Windows, pick one of the 2, it doesn't matter which one. Open the file you downloaded with 7zip, and extract the files inside it to your lfs/data/dds folder. It has to overwrite the files already in there, or else it won't show up in the game.

Pretty good deal since it includes a 20" monitor. I'm personally not interested as I already bought a couple of new computers, but I'm wondering why you would buy a new computer, then upgrade everything in it 2 hours later. Wouldn't it have been easier to simply build your own computer from parts?

To answer your question about which way the fans should be blowing, look at a diagram of my system's fans. All the fans blow out except for fan 1. With that config, my system stays very cool, around 30-40 degrees. The fans are all 120mm, so they are very quiet, I don't even hear them.

You mean a tire that says "403 Error"? Sure, it's possible!

Those temps are very high, I've never seen 100+ on a gpu. Clean out the dust from the fans and heatsinks with a vacuum cleaner. You might consider also adding another fan in your case to improve airflow.

First, thanks for the credit.

Second, and more important, try to only advertise your own products whenever you release something. It's ok to give credit whenever you're using only a small amount of other people's work, but when more than half of the work is someone else's then what's the point? It's almost like you're advertising someone else's stuff rather than your own stuff. Just my opinion. But I have no problem with you using my headlights, after all they are the best ever made in the past, present, or future lol!

Keep it up though, try to make your own headlights now, after all mine are from a BMW, which is not an American car. Try putting some Ford headlights or something. When you're done with that try doing the interior too.

I'd also like to know. It was added some time ago, but nobody ever bothered to explain what it actually does, it was just like "here it is, use it". Can we get The Tristan in here please?

You won't get very far by doing that. The video card uses the most power, far more than anything else in your system, so you can't really disconnect it or else what would that prove? That your system works fine without a video card?

First, check all power cable connections, to your motherboard and your video card especially, and make sure your RAM modules are fully inserted in their slots. If that doesn't help, the next thing I would do is get my hands on another (better) power supply and see if the computer still freezes with it.

And people do modify the exe, because that's not illegal. But you don't see the mods here precisely because of the arguments given above, which IS illegal. So what are you guys arguing about?

Wtf? The car is on the track, but there's no driver in it? And no gauges? How did you do that?

lol @ Jakg trying to defend his "investment"

Take your time and do your research next time you buy a power supply; if it doesn't come with a 4pin or 8pin connector, don't buy it, no matter how cheap it is. It took me a long while to find a couple of good power supplies for my computers, but it was worth it in the end. They have enough power, all the necessary cables, and are very quiet.

Wow I completely forgot about this thread!

I went ahead and did a few more tracks, Fern Bay, Aston, and Kyoto. Check the first post for the files. Only Westhill is left, and I expect to finish it tomorrow. Enjoy!

lol Takumi

To anyone else who may be wondering, this thread is about the error message "Shadow error" which makes all shadows disappear, not about errors with the shadows.

Quote from Takumi_lfs :Same here, It happends on different surfaces of textures.

Ati 4870 here. I thought that it was something with the drivers, but im up to date though 8.9

You're having this problem? I also have the Radeon 4870 and ever since I got it I've never gotten this error, with highest 3D settings and high-res textures, and Catalyst 8.9.
