I have a staring contest with that squirrel on the tree outside my window. So far I'm no match for him.

Quote from wtf im nameless :hahah don't worry.. I usually don't show my stuff online till it's pretty much done though

It will be worth the wait though.. trust me when I say this build is over the top and I don't think anyone's ever seen anything like this in someones house before.

Let me guess...it's a RV which you are converting into an LFS simulator? That would be going over the top, and I've never seen anything like it in anybody's house!

It won't perform good. You should get a notebook with a better video card, anything other than Intel GMA graphics.

Bottom line: any card you get will be FAR better than the onboard one you're currently using. I simply suggested the Radeon 4670 as it is a current generation card, whereas the Geforce 8600 is 2 generations old and Radeon x1950 is 3 generations old. I was just thinking you might want a current card, but any of them will be better than what you currently have.

It needs more work. Instead of masking the original headlights, why don't you find some pictures of real headlights on the web and paste them on top of the original ones. Keep at it.

Enough with the mufflers! They're part of the skin YOU NOOB, not the textures he posted.

LOL Duke Nukem 3D and Midtown Madness don't count! We're talking about CURRENT games!

Anyway, to the op, ATI's numbering scheme is not that hard to comprehend, and in fact it's no different than Nvidia's.

ATI | Nvidia
2600s | 7600s
2900s | 7900s

3600s | 8600s
3800s | 8800s

4600s | 9600s
4800s | GTX 280, 260, Geforce 9800s

I very much doubt that. Even here in Toronto, Canada (aka ATI headquarters) you can't get one for less than $200.

I don't think the devs need financial motivation, I just think there is too much work for the 3 of them to do that frequent updates are not realistic.

For $150 your best bet is either the Geforce 8800GT or 9600GT. If you had a bit more you could go for the 9800GT, and it would be worth it. And, yes you will see a HUGE improvement in games if you get a better GPU, so spend as much money as you can on it if you play a lot of games, it will make a big difference.

That PC is great for everything. I would have gone for a better brand of RAM, like the OCZ Reaeper RAM as they're really good for the price these days, but it shouldn't make a difference. Just make sure you're running a 64-bit OS if you plan to put all 4GB of RAM in your computer, I've had a very bad experience with 4GB of RAM on a 32-bit system.

If I were in your position I would wait a couple weeks and pick up an ATI Radeon 4670, as it will be a very good card for that the price. The GeForce 8600 is a piece of crap, don't go for it. The 9400 would do fine, but have you looked at the 9500? It might be better.

You live in Toronto???

Shipping was 17.50 Euros, around $26 CAD, which cost more than the two shirts I bought.

There was a car with a built-in console at an auto show here once, where you could use the steering wheel as a controller for the console when the car was in 'park'. The Nissan Urge. Now you just have to find a way to install LFS on the on-board Xbox 360...

I'm also kinda bored of this game, so I'm usually just lurking around the forum. We need a lot of new content, and fast.

I've read an article a couple months ago that said if you have 8GB of RAM then you can turn off the page file in Windows. They tried this in Vista and it ran faster than before. Have any of you tried this? If this is indeed true then this would be a good benefit of having so much RAM.

I think this will be the first Skyline to be "officially" sold in North America. LHD FTW!!!

It's good enough to play LFS, but don't expect to play Crysis on it. Price is fine too.

Regarding 4GB of ram on a 32-bit system, I will share my personal experience with you.

I tried this, cause I saw rumours everywhere about it, and I decided to give it a go. I bought 4x1GB of those OCZ reaper DDR2 1150 sticks. I put all 4 in and booted. The BIOS recognized all of it, 4096 MB of RAM it said. Windows recognized only 3.25 GB of RAM. Everything seemed fine for a while, but after a couple of hours it gave me blue screens. I rebooted, and more blue screens. Every time the thing causing the blue screen was different, I never saw the same thing twice. That's when I had enough and took out one of the sticks. I now have 3GB of ram in my system. BIOS and Windows both recognize 3GB of RAM. I have no more blue screens since then, in fact my system works perfectly with 3GB. And, BIOS still makes them work in dual-channel mode. Hope this helps. I'm gonna upgrade to WinXP x64 soon to take advantage of my extra stick, but I'm just too lazy at the moment...

It's not your PSU, it's either your video card, memory, or even your motherboard. Try taking the ram out, clean the dust away and put it back in. Do the same with the video card. Try a minimum boot, i.e. take out any extra cards you may have in there, and leave only the cpu, motherboard, ram, video card, and hard drive connected and see if it boots.

Quote from Jakg :For LFS? ATM they are useless as LFS only uses one core.

Really? I have E8400, and I was watching the cpu usage while playing LFS, and both cores were used about equally. So I don't know why people always say LFS uses only one core, speaking from my experience I don't think it's true.
