Is your CPU overclocked?

Try disabling AGP Fast Write. I've had this issue before when I installed a newer video card, it didn't use Fast Write properly and would crash randomly.

It must be your power supply then, try a new one.

Oh that's interesting, I didn't know you had an onboard video card as well. Have you tried disabling it? Can you set the default video card to the AGP one? And then put the new video card in the computer.

If the power supply doesn't supply enough power, the system will freeze, or not boot, or strange things will happen. So it might be your power supply that's causing these problems.

Try the following things:

-take out the video card and put it back in (maybe a bad connection or something)
-put the video card in another computer and see if it works

-make sure the motherboard has all the proper power cables plugged into it (the big one as well as the smaller ones)

What motherboard do you have?

Quote from dadge :i still stand by my point that 640x480 on a television is not "low" quallity. infact it's very good quallity.

Yea it was considered very good quality in the 1950s (compared to radio which had a screen resolution of 0x0). However, technology has advanced in the past 60 years giving us much better resolutions, so 640x480 is no longer considered "very good quality" (except by you). It all depends what you compare it to.

I say you replace the fan altogether, it's not a difficult process. All fans wear out, and usually there's nothing you can do. If a lot of dust gets in the bearings, you can't get it out just by blowing air into it, those bearings have grease on them which acts like glue, holding the dust in place. I say you replace the fan.

Do you even know what HD means? HD means a resolution of 1080p (the most common HD resolution atm), which is 1920x1080. That's all that HD is. So if you set your resolution to that one, it will be HD.

Quote from Bose321 :Upgrading is the way to go, if you got a kinda recent socket and motherboard. In his case, he doesn't even have PCI-E, so a new computer is better, but in most cases today, upgrading will be better.

First of all, it's not a "he" lol, it's a she. Second of all, new computers don't need to be upgraded. I wouldn't want to buy a computer, then upgrade it a month later, that's not the point of buying a new computer! A person only starts wanting to upgrade their computer after a few years pass by, and by that point it's not worth it to upgrade anymore because new technologies are out by then. Therefore, upgrading in general is not worth it. Trust me.

Sueycide, even if you upgrade your video card, you're unlikely to get good fps in those games you listed. Your CPU is the bottleneck, P4 is a very very old CPU and it won't play those games very well. I'm guessing around 10fps or so would be the max at decent quality. You'd be better off saving up for a new computer, I've learned the hard way that upgrading isn't the way to go.

Quote from NotAnIllusion :So.. it locks itself up on the 24th, unless I pay for it?

Or is it free, for life, if I get it by the 24th?

edit: lols, it's 5 gigs :faint2:

It's free to add it to your account until the 24th. After the 24th it goes back to it's regular price. Obviously once it's part of your account, it stays there permanently.

Check the power cable connection, try unplugging it completely and plugging it in again. The steering lock is done through the force feedback, and the force feedback is powered through the power cable.

Also, you can try the Omega drivers, in some cases those are known to work better than the official ATI drivers.

If you want to overclock you have to increase the FSB from 333 MHz to 400 MHz to get 3.6GHz. I've done it easily on my E8400. But as soon as you overclock, the BIOS disables SpeedStep, so it doesn't go into low power mode when it's idle, it continuously runs at 3.6 GHz, which I personally don't like since my computer is idle most of the time.

I don't think your pinouts are wrong, it might just be the wheel controller expecting a high value with the original pedals and you're giving it a low value with the new pedals. You might be able to use an inverter (a NOT gate) to invert the value and send it to the wheel, it might solve your problem. But, this is trial and error, you just have to try a few different things, and hopefully one might work. On the other hand, you might end up damaging your wheel if you give it too much voltage, so be careful.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe nobody has this version anymore? It's not like nobody's helping you on purpose, but the test patch link is broken, so I doubt anybody still has a copy of that old test patch.

I agree with morpha, gold is not as good at conducting heat (or electricity) as copper or silver. Silver is the best, and copper is a bit worse (but far cheaper than silver, which is why all wires are made of copper).

Analog inputs cannot be used as outputs. They are connected to an analog-to-digital converter, and it only works in one direction, from analog to digital.

Well when I made a thread 2 years ago asking people to upload files to this forum before uploading to LFSDB, it went by pretty much unnoticed by everyone.

And now look where we are, LFSDB is down AGAIN, and AGAIN people are asking for files which are nowhere to be found.
