Quote from tristancliffe :No, clutch heat and clutch wear are different. So are engine damage and clutch damage. All we know is stalling (not damage, heat or wear) on the engines, and heat on the clutch (not wear or damage).

Ok, I see. Thanks for clearing that up..

Quote from Blackout :There was no mention about engine damage or clutch wear, don't make up things, please.

It said gearbox and engine simulation was improved and that you can heat up your clutch and stall your engine.

Doesn't that amount to the same thing? Either way thats the way I understood it, I'm not trying to make anything up.
So, will the new update reward clutch and shifter drivers?

First of all, let me say the new update is great news, and a massive thumbs up to the devs for implementing all of this.

Now, in Scawen's video, he mentioned that clutch wear and engine damage have been improved, and that sequential users will 'need to ease off the throttle in order to shift up', amongst other things.

Do these changes amount to rewarding clutch and h-shifter drivers, or will it not make much of a difference? As a clutch and shifter user myself, it would be nice to benefit from reduced engine wear etc from not flat shifting for example.. Also, if clutch users are rewarded, will there be a backlash from other racers? Should there be server level options such as 'clutch only'?

What do you think?

Quote from Nathan_French_14 :@ Origamiboy. The ramming comment was'nt directed towards you, it was directed towards AMB.

Sorry if i came on abit vicious, but im fed up with all these people that have such a hatred towards cruising. LFS may not have been made for cruising, but the way i see it is that if people have payed £24 for this game, then they should be allowed to play it however they want.

Also, SOME servers may be mean if your a newcomer but the one i regulary go on (CLC) is a very freindly server. When i first went there, everyone explained how it worked and what commands to use (even though i did feck up a few times )

Anyway, sorry to be so harsh, but please dont say these kind of things about servers if you have just heard them from other members.

Fair enough mate. I apologise...

"2. If a cop decides to chase you, DO NOT run away, this will lead to a kick from the server." 'But chases are fun!' I hear you say.. True, but they can be dangerous... < idk where you heard this b.s from. Also, where did you witness it from? AMB is referring to CLC as he was on there earlier. You wont be kicked or banned after a chase, so please try and get some proper info before posting b.s like this.

"3. If you are stranded, try to act as a server regular, otherwise you will get help from no-one." < again, B.S. As above, dont post crap.

"4. Do everything anyone tells you to or else you will be banned, even if what you were doing was 'fun', or within usual rules." < Jesus, you sure do like talking all this crap. You wont be banned OR kicked for either of those things.

AMB. Please goto www.citylifecrew.net if it is CLC you are referring to about help. goto the forum, and all info will be in there. Make sure to give it a throrough read.

Also, stop with the ramming. Thats one rule we strongly support in CLC, as do the rest of the people in LFS.

To be fair, I have had little exposure to 'cruising'. As I said, it doesn't interest me. However, that list I compiled comes from accounts from fellow racers on this forum and elsewhere.. Whether this is because people are bitter about cruise servers leaving race servers empty, I don't know.

Now, I assume that you frequent the server a lot, therefore don't suffer any of the problems I mentioned. However, to a newcomer it can be both bewildering and unforgiving. And you cannot deny that the cruising community is said to be 'cliquey'.

Where did that ramming comment come from? I have, and never will, wreck purposefully on any server..

Quote from 1987SupraTurbo :Wow I was gone for a couple days and came back to a bunch of wonderful replies! Thanks everyone!

Yes I get the "Aww, man, it's an automatic" Just about every person who is interested in my Supra. Well that's about to change..

We decided to go with the R154 transmission (5 speed in turbo MA70's) with a stiff clutch (In or out, no in-between ). We are going to drop the 2jz from a naturally aspirated 1995 Supra and do a NA-t using a single turbo. We still haven't decided yet, but I figure no need to as of now knowing that the swap itself is going to be time consuming.

I have plenty of time to decide.

And I'm planning to register LFS as the demo is amazing, and I can't wait for the others. Is online as fun as the regular game?

LFS = Great when the Supras down for work

TBH if you liked the demo you'll lve S2. It takes all the good points from the demo and multiplies them tenfold. Plus you'll have driven tens of thousands of miles before you could even think of saying you've mastered every car and track combo.

The online racing is also of a much higher standard in general than the demo, even more so if you join a league or race on the high level CTRA servers.

No point waiting for S3 IMO, you will have a great time with S2 for the forseeable future. I know I sound like a fanboy (Scavier, you owe me 20 quid ) but if you end up disagreeing with me you have full permission to kick me in the groin... Hard.

It could be a few things:-

1. Make sure that the wheel turn amount is the same in LFS as in the profiler software.

2. Try a higher wheel turn compensation value.. This will make the wheel less sensitive towards the centre, which then increases as you near full lock.

3. Try increasing FFB strength, making it harder to make fast, twitchy wheel movements.

4. Practice. If you used a wheel with greater lock before, a smaller lock will take some getting used to.

Hope this helps.

Quote from AMB :ok how do i join races because i try and it sais i do not own that car?

Race servers are usually limited to a selection of cars within a predetermined class. The ones you can select stand out, with the others slightly greyed out. For example, CTRA Race 1 only allows the XFG and XRG, selecting other cars will not work.

Also, the cars available for each server are also shown on the right hand side of the server browser.

Top Tips For Cruise Servers:-

1. Drive REALLY slowly, ie 60mph max. Why try to push the limits of a car in a sim when you can drive as you would in real life?

2. If a cop decides to chase you, DO NOT run away, this will lead to a kick from the server. 'But chases are fun!' I hear you say.. True, but they can be dangerous...

3. If you are stranded, try to act as a server regular, otherwise you will get help from no-one.

4. Do everything anyone tells you to or else you will be banned, even if what you were doing was 'fun', or within usual rules.

5. My fave tip. Press 'leave' and then pick one of the sparsely populated race servers and enjoy the sim as it was intended.

(Needless to say, I can't see the point of 'cruising' in LFS. Its like having a free bar and then asking for a soda water...)

Quote from Shotglass :how is it that we dont understand youre driving like an idiot on an open road with traffic right next to you ? and that to add insult to injury your driving is not even good enough to keep the car from spinning or hitting anything ?

Agreed. In my book someone driving like that is a retard, regardless whether it is in Saudi Arabia or the UK or anywhere else for that matter.

Set the wheel turn in profiler and LFS to 720deg. Then set 'wheel turn compensation' in LFS to 1.00. This will match in game wheel to actual wheel 1:1 for all cars in the game.

Enjoy!

Time to add that to the long, long list of reasons not to buy from OcUK. Shame, as their site is the best, but maybe it's time to look at Scan now i get free delivery *evil eyes*

Lucky for me I live not far from their retail premises. I get the same prices, choice of stock etc, plus I can just pick up the item straight away.

I find that using 900deg and wheel turn compensation of 1.00 makes the wheel rotaion match that of the on screen wheel exactly, regardless of car. Only downside is you mlose the FFB stops at full lock, but you rarely use that much lock anyhow.

Quote from harjun :Thanks ori, so i use the logitech profiler right?

Thanks for everything positive guys

Yes. Its a piece of software that lets you make individual controller profiles for each game. Then when you launch the game the DFP settings are applied automatically, saving you having to change them in control panel every time.

The payment can take a while to be processed from a savings account. These accounts don't usually allow instant access to funds and have to be approved before money is withdrawn, hence its not as instant as a debit transaction.

If you want it earlier than that, transfer the money from the savings to your dads account, and get him to pay via a credit/debit card. This way the payment will go through far faster.

Oh, almost forgot. I had problems with the G25 when I plugged it into a USB hub (most likely insufficient power) which were resolved when plugging directly into a motherboard USB socket. This may also apply to the DFP, although most likely it was down to a faulty hub on my part.

You'll really enjoy it, it is a big step up from other wheels (except the G25). However, it will probably take a while to get used to it, especially if you increase the wheel lock.

When you get it use the Profiler software to tailor the FFB settings depending on the game.

Have fun!

How about this for an idea..?

All interested parties meet at a specified time and place just outside oxford. From there you have a no holds barred fight to the death, with the last man standing continuing on to pick up the race frame.

(At which point you find out the OP has already given it to a friend....!)

Honestly, don't bother. Just keep racing fair on popular servers and you will eventually build up a list of fellow racers you get along with. From there you can join an established team or set up a new one.

This kind of idea almost never takes off, especially if the team leader doesn't have an S2 licence. No S2 means most drivers won't give your team a second thought.
