Its almost like he's playing a game, not driving a real car. The man really didn't have any concept of danger or risk behind the wheel. Its what makes him a legend in my book.
I'm not trying to ruin your thread. But you really should be honest with people regarding what you have done to the laptop. All it takes is a little bit of digging for the truth to be revealed...
Well, thanks Harjun. I've not laughed like that in a long time!
It should read:-
''Excellent condition - well, I say excellent. I mean, I MIGHT have taken it apart, fried the CPU and GPU and messed around with the heatsinks. But who hasn't? Right?''
Well, I've not been fortunate enough to meet the man, but I have great respect for what he has achieved and his attitude to life. I think this video sums up what this motorsport legend was about..
What you could do is look into some companies that make up powerful systems, such as alienware etc. Most of them allow you to 'build' a rig online and show you the individual component parts before you place an order. DON'T actually buy the PC from those sites, but shop around and get the items individually. You will save a lot of money compared to the list price by doing it this way.
If you are unsure of what goes with what this approach saves a lot of guesswork..
True enough. I think if it is ever going to work the devs must make the company involved aware that they will not implent anything that would compromise the integrity of the sim.
You're far too modest. When watching the STCC it doesn't seem like someone talking about some computer generated cars, it sounds like you are commenting on an actual race, and on many counts puts a lot of TV motorsport commentary to shame.
Your enthusiasm for sim racing somes across loud and clear in your commentary, and it rubbed off on me in spades. Heck, the STCC broadcasts are the reason I bought LFS in the first place! If anyone says I'm wasting my time racing I show them an STCC race and they usually either take it back or ask how to get involved themselves...
Getting back on topic (!), I have enjoyed the first few episodes of SRT. When a few of the niggles are ironed out (as mentioned by others in the thread) it will be must see for anyone remotely interested in sim racing. Keep up the good work..
Personally I think it would be a terrible idea. Once companies get to influence the game you will find the physics tweaked in order to make the car appear easier to drive to potential customers. Plus it would be unlikely for them to allow the car to be flipped or damaged beyond repair as well.
Its an oxymoron, but in order to get realistic handling cars in LFS they must be entirely fictional. Only this way can the devs implement things how they actually are, not how someone would like them to be.
Surely the fact that he was ''born knowing a more cultural and harder language than English'' makes him MORE qualified to correct peoples English?! Theres no need to bring race into the discussion either.
Besides, as a native Englishman (apparently this matters greatly:shrug I'm constantly amazed by the shocking quality of peoples written and spoken English. In fact, in a lot of cases I find that people speaking English as a second language do a much better job than your average English citizen.
Congrats. Keep it up. Trust me, you really don't want to end up with a smoking related cancer, wouldn't wish it on anybody. Plus you'll be able to afford a holiday in a matter of months..
Not necessarily a drive, but you don't send over 300 messages to them to arrange a meal, do you? Other than Ferrari, where else could Alonso realistically go, especially considering recent events? He doesn't exactly scream 'team player', does he?
I don't for a second say Dennis is blameless. But yes, I do think he was kept in the dark, and I do think that he told the FIA what he knew at the time.
Personally I think Ron Dennis is innocent in all of this. I believe that at the time of speaking to Mosley he was convinced that Alonso had no information and it blew up in Dennis's face when he called his bluff.
It seems like he has acted properly throughout, but the actions of a rogue employee and a driver seemingly trying to bribe his way into a honda car next year must have taken him off guard.
Its amazing IMHO that Dennis hasn't told Alonso to race in a pedal-car for the rest of the season!
