Like someone pointed out before - No need to make more different editions of one single car. We look forward to new cars, not some weird different configuration for the same cars we've run since UM first joined
Get someome to go into the server and kick you out, or the server host will do it remotely. If that doesn't work, like Rony said, the server needs to be reset and rebooted.
It happens when there is a failure/desync in the connection between the server host, LFS hosting system and the user's computer. You physically are booted or out of the server but virtually your account gets stuck in the server.
This is not to be linked with actual disconnection or latency issues direct between the user and the LFS. that just causes your normal DC or JOOS.
This is at least what I know and think is happening. I may be just talking shit lol
Ah. Just also realised he uses a Microsoft Sidewinder... one of the most horrible wheels you can gey that is still branded somehow.. might explain a quarter of the driving..
Your negativity towards making progress and feedback makes me feel that you simply don't have the talent to be a racing driver - that is, if you keep saying "this and that don't work at all".
Practice makes perfect. You set a goal, like a certain time. If you constantly fail to make the time, watch a replay, and analyse it to see where you lose time (apex speed? braking? lines?)
Then go back with your knowledge and try again.
Setups work. I sometimes take time to get used to them too. They handle differently - but the difference is what it takes to go faster. Some setups are unstable on purpose, and you have to adjust your driving to get the best out of the set. It's the reason why default setup is shit, and something like, I don't know, a WR set, isn't?
You use a wheel. That's brilliant. You should be able to control the throttle and brake application more than keyboard or mouse users can. Use it to your advantage by balancing the car on corners.
I was primilarly a mouse user (and still am), but recently got a wheel. I was doing 1:11s in mouse on BL Historic FBM on mouse, and when I first used the wheel (even with past experience), I was barely scraping 1:14s. After a few days, I could there or there about, manage competitive 1:12s. It's not your actions that shows. It's the results that speak for themselves, speak for what you've done for yourself, and speak for those very actions that made those results you wanted.
If you still refuse to sweat it out and learn the hard way, then I have to refer to my earlier point, that honestly, you simply lack the skill and 6th sense of a racing driver; similar to how musicians work - "Some people just can't do it".
But I refuse to conclude at that. I believe you can do better.
Go back, watch races, onboards of racing cars (stock, open wheel, depending on what you want to race in). See how pros take lines, apply the throttle, etc. Then, watch LFS races. Learn from those too.
Then go to practice.
I don't know how to put it. It's just something you yearn for; that drive, thirst, that you get after watching a race, or get a fast time in.
Come back when you've made progress. Or need help, and tips. If not...
Don't come back if you just want to spread negativity and fck about with everyone saying nothing works for you. There are many other people going through trials and tribulations you go through too, to become a fast driver. You are not an exception.
It may be harder for you, but it just means the rewards will be much more relieving.
Peace out.
(Not being dissy, just being straightforward, as I always am lol)
I have no experience with a flight stick in LFS, but I guess you have to click on Optionsx then Controls, and somehow bind the flight stick to a XY axis and disable the left and right axis. So it acts like a up down sequential shifter - only with variable control instead of analog up/down click.
I find that, at least with mouse, both the UFR and XFR are point and squirt cars. Cant appply throttle mid corner. So your entry line, entry speed and gearing have to be on point.
On wheel, you can vary the throttle to balance the oversteer and make the car more balanced mid corner, but if you apply too much, the car does power understeer so easily lol.
I remember, in the SRT UFR race at sO2, I was basically point and squirting for the entire race. Meaning, braking, raking the gears, turning in with no power, then power out once the steering angle is smaller. Also helps if you have a mario kart "tippy" set that steps out slightly. Helps pivot the front end more.
It is a new PC, hence new LFS install. Thus, that's ruled out already.
I do not have another keyboard. The only other one is a old keyboard with the cylindrical plugin, which is obsolete lol.
@FreeScrirocco
Its an acer wireless keyboard that came with my old Acer Aspire Desktop. It worked fine on that, as well as one other pc. Only giving problems with this Dell.
Hi all, just one extremely annoying problem I'm having.
I'm using a wireless keyboard (those that have a small usb bob and batteries).
When I'm using it to type on desktop and general PC usage, it's fine and doesn't have any issue.
However, when I come into LFS, first 10-15 mins is okay. Gear changes on keys is smooth, typing is fine, no lag whatsoever. Once 15 mins passes, I start to get this terrible lag, and the input lag itself is randomised.
Example : I press "S" on keyboard to press clutch. It doesn't do anything, then 1 second later, it engages and disengages by itself. If I hold the clutch down, the pedal board on bottom right shows the clutch jumping on and off in varying intervals by itself.
Same thing happens for typing - it's almost impossible. Each letter wants to come up in free will, and I cannot even scroll through cameras (V). If I hold the V key down, it cycles, then stops and cycles randomly.
I've tried replacing batteries, using different USB ports, dissembling the entire keyboard and reseating he motherboard and panels, updating drivers, uninstalling the keyboard driver and reinstalling. Nothing works. This lag only happens in LFS.
Is this an isolated issue with this particular keyboard, or an incompatability between it and LFS?
PC Specs here :
Dell Vostro Win 10 Pro 64bit
Intel i7 2600 3.4Ghz
4GB RAM
1TB Storage
Upgraded Nvidia GE Force GT 420
Integrated graphics (standalone panel with 4 USB)
Doubt it's the PC's issue though.
Would like to fix if possible, if not, just gonna buy a new kb
Ah yes. Make sure the axis for throttle brake are not combined, but independant. Also, make sure to test the throttle/brake response and pedal travel inside the Logitech profiler. The graphs will show the travel, make sure when you are idle, the graph axis for Throttle is also at 0%.
If you bothered to read the top and bottom of that thread you'll notice I'm om that too.
Yes, its good to hear some form of response. But...
Verbal announcements are too norm now. Its pretty much the standard answer every single time - where are teasers or at least a proper estimate? It's as if the updates are dragging their hind legs trying to move along over the course of this dozen years LFS has been around.
Some teasers would certainly hype the crowd and silence the speculations.. all we get are just worded "meh" responses to sort of confirm that tracks are on the way.
No taking away from the fact that yes, its relieving to a certain extent when Scawen comes on abd says something, but after a while it gets mundane and standard.
And even so, 2 tracks after such a long gap is nothing to be happy about. Hopefully it comes out soon.....
