To this user, thank you, you know who you are. You provided insight and a more logical answer than I've been given so far.
At least there is some basis behind it.
Noted. I was questioning whether it could be a wider problem than just to BT network users. Disregard this now...
I knew this from 2 years ago. I've had discussions with others that pointed to the same possibility than it is a distance related issue. However I have not moved countries nor has Singapore floated away further from NL. Notably, the unstable connections has been getting far worse in recent times, not just for me but for other users from totally different countries (i.e in large capacity servers relying heavily on mods and layout objects),
>>> timeouts, mod loading frame stutter, and long mod loading times are repetitive yet random for an unpredictable subset of user - Irregardless of their nation country, be it Turkey, Singapore, UK, France. There is a trend here of increasing destability in client connections that you are ignoring simplu because it seems, to us, that it is too much of a hassle.
Hence, I would greatly appreciate if you'd take the time to read my own thread here https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/2105295#post2105295 that's been stagnant for over a year - instead of pointing the blame on us, maybe investigate into i3D? Because they are the sole constant in this ongoing problem.
And I repeat again, having a nice updated LFS with fantastic tire model and 70 new tracks means nothing if half your userbase cannot hold a stable connection to last 60 seconds.
edit: and if its too much of a hassle to get to the bottom of, and you're choosing not to address these issues, at least say so. Leaving your community in the dark [ (cough) da Karai is waiting for your answer] is worse than taking no action.
Right, this started up again just yesterday, simultaneously with terrible master server ping (christmas tree servers again). I'm not even in the UK - so the "affecting just BT net users" is not applicable.
It's been this way since mod vehicles came out, and consistently getting worse and more frequent in nature the past year. If it's not due to the updates and also not solely BT (or any particular ISP) then it just leaves the master server provider...

1. Car selection requirements:
In order to improve safety the following rules would be introduced for the mods selection.
>Mod must be under 610 bhp.
>Mod must be under 2 tons.
>Mod must have slicks, road_super or road_normal tyres available.
>Bikes, trikes, vans, SUVs, trucks, busses and formulas are not acceptable.
>It is expected from the mod to be within reasonable safety. If is determined at later date that the mod is deemed unsafe, Air Attack reserves the right to cancel the round and reschedule it with different mod.
2. Format
Season 2025
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We shake things up a little bit with three freshly selected tracks: a reversed version of classic BL2R, the high-speed AS3, and the technical FE3.
The race format for every track: 10 minutes of qualifying followed by 3 races of roughly 8 minutes in duration.
In this season we'll be using F1 Point system: 10pts for 1st place, 8 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd, 5 for 4th, 4 for 5th, 3 for 6th, 2 for 7th and 1 for 8th. The pole position in qualifying is worth 1 point, while there will be no points for high climbers.
Given the experience from the previous season, this time we'll put a limit on mod horsepower. Winners will have to choose the mod with up to 450hp. We will be flexible a little bit with this limit, however, bear in mind that so far we had the best racing with mods below 300hp.
In recent weeks the mod retrieval/loading list in pits has been average, nothing spectacular but also not laggy. In regards to mods however, one thing that's noticeable as a constant is that first entry into a server heavy on mods usage - the cars take minimum 5s to load in - everything's frozen and all cars are circle dots (mod desync). Myself I haven't had the mod list lag for over a month, but when it does occur it will crap out for at least 2 days.
But what's bugging me right now (as I'm writing this reply) is that the issues with the master server is still not resolved - MP out of stash space + constant timeouts; but LFS.net and all associated pages (including in-game mod retrieval list) load just fine. I'm getting this now when loading into servers, and entering the more active servers like TC / JAR / FF the user connection list is flickering like a Christmas tree... [edit: I'm sure if you go back a couple years, the servers were much more stable than now. This year alone it's been terrible already, far more random timeouts to random players than I remember from past years.]
.... so just to bring it up again, that my issue's still being ignored - https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/2105295#post2105295 . Since 2022 when the issue first occurred, I've changed between two ISP now and both had the same issues, occurring in greater frequency every year. Every month there are random days where LFS simply doesn't connect. C'mon, there has to be some proper answer to this that isn't just a lame blanket "your ISP / your country / EU undersea cable" reply.
It's not just me. It's plenty more people. It's not our ISP or network issue. It's probably (like you mentioned) not even due to the 0.7 update.
It's your provider that's hosting your master server and everything around it. If they're saying nothing's changed or everything's fine on their end, you're being sold a lie. Having a big nice update to LFS is cool and fantastic, but it means jack if we don't have stable connection infrastructure, irregardless if it's laggy mod retrieval or a janky master server.
Thank you everyone for joining us for our 20th year of operations, whether on track racing, through the livestream, or by frequently patronizing our servers (and in essence LFS itself for so long)! It's been a very long journey - and that was one heck of an event
On behalf of the entire AirAttack team, we appreciate all of you, and also to the men behind Live for Speed - Scawen, Vic and and Eric for keeping the dream alive for as long as we have. Till next time, and we'll see you on track for another 20!
Ringed my ISP and they've reverted back repeatedly that it is not an issue on their end. Exhausted all feedback and possible solutions, so I've just put it down to LFS's host server having a meltdown for just particular nations on random occasions, that is not detectable on large scale.
For reference, when this sh*t hits the fan it usually does so for about a week or just under a week. In the meantime LFS is borderline unplayable, so I just go about life without nightly LFS sessions. Not really annoying per se, but if you hardcore cruise or race it will probably be a major turnaway.
Seems like torque steer and just how wheels work with caster value. An axle will always attempt to straighten itself, hence why stunt drivers give minimal throttle input variation.
We at Air Attack Racing are commemorating twenty years (yes, two decades) of operations in Live for Speed!
Calling all old timers, forum lurkers and those sitting in idle, come join us at the event* to celebrate a huge milestone and perhaps meet and catch up with those you've not seen in ages, and have a dabble in the well loved FBM and GTi classes.
Thank you everybody from presently to back then in 2005 for joining us on the journey. Air Attack hopes to see you there for the event! Race will be livestreamed on https://www.twitch.tv/simbroadcasts by our wonderful friends - again, appreciated!
*Event is not on demo server, you will require S1 - S3 license. For our demo friends, we will host a separate demo event soon. Stay tuned!
