Quote from mbutcher :I used a modified AS1 set too. Tongue

Seems the fastest, Pete! Maybe after hours of tweaking you can go faster. Wink

Anyway, to everyone still subscribed to this fancy pancy layout thread,

Thank you for your continuous support. It really honestly means a lot to see people enjoying my work and it's rewarding even though there isn't much league usage (yet). Gives me the drive to continue thinking and crafting each track with joy and I hope I can continue to do so!

Every track from start to current has had a facelift and/or grid expansion. All of these updated race-spec courses have been uploaded with "V3" in the name. Do have a look!

Personal Favourites? I'll have to say Monaco, Norisring, Mid-Town Ring.
And of course, the Lmaoring - named for the fun we had with our late racer in LCS-R, Marcus, who sadly passed on last year. In his honor, the updated inner stadium section now features the finalised Marcus Arena structure.

Thank you once again, and see you next time Wink

Because LFS AI are programmed to a single path and they rarely veer off that trajectory. Unlike games like Raceroom or rF where the AI are active (as in alive and able to calculate driving themselves) and "react" to situations, in LFS they just join the preset path.

So if you push them onto the grass their first reaction is to steer in the direction of the race path and then hammer the throttle to attempt to get on tarmac. Which doesn't work, of course.

Same reason why they don't move for blue flags or react to a stalled car fast enough.

AI in LFS is definitely passable in a race scenario but otherwise I'm sure they"re dude an update or two. Rofl

Amazing runs Niko, Pete. Didn't know what to expect running the BF1 around a banter course, but now I know. Smile

Mini-Sentul International Circuit, Indonesia

This is one track from the older archives! Been almost 2 years, forgot I even had this stored somewhere Tongue

Here is a mini-version of one of Indonesia's discreet race tracks.
Located just off capital Jarkata, this track provides close racing in lesser powered cars, and can also be a decent drifting circuit!

Less popular to us, it may prove an interesting challenge with the twisty middle sector. Have fun!
Credits to ltras for suggesting this!

South City will have an expansion for sure. I'm certain.

Aston has the potential as well, to branch out several new courses. Given the size currently I'd say any decent expansion and it can be a mini Nordschleife.

Looking forward mainly to SO facelift and West wing development. SO needs it badly.

Quote from Scawen :Would that problem be solved if one of the 3d kerb objects (e.g. from Blackwood) was included as a layout object?

EDIT: I guess not - looking at your pictures, there are a lot of reasons to put concrete objects slightly underground.

E.g. https://www.lfs.net/attachment/165190

A 3D Kerb object in the editor would help massively, will enable turns to be done smoother and kerbs to be placed more accurately. Although it doesn"t resolve all the purposes of putting underground concrete parts, it does solve the majority of issues regarding "Ramp kerbs".

Impressive! @Scawen that's an amazing job on the graphics, finally Aston gets a facelift.

Are you able to hint whether a new track is in the works for the near future?
Also, for the layouts created in Aston sky/Autocross here
https://www.lfs.net/forum/thread/90485-Nova%27s-really-good-circuit-layouts ,
Will I be able to transfer the track file and placement direct into the new environment? Or will it be another Blackwood situation where the coords will be different?

Anyhow, this graphical overhaul is dfinitely worth an discussion update over at AOR. Looking forward for the responses, as well as taking a spin in the updated tracks

I don't know if the following is related or relevant, but in redacted a popular server (check edit logs to read thanks), the server was able to be crashed and subsequently poached if a user attempts to connect from the same account from two seperate PCs or seperate IPs at the same time.

It happened pre-update and I think its fixed now and doesn't happen, but this unknown IP thing seems to gel really well with this theory.

Happens real quick too, two same usernames connected appear in the chat and then server instantly crashes. Hm.

Hope its not someone trying to nick servers, lol.

There's a reason why you learn how to save... money.

iRacing although being the far superior sim, it also is superior in its monetary charges for content. One year of racing in iR can set you back hundreds.

Looney The Pavement Run Challenge Looney

As the description may hint, this is a rather fun and stressful challenge. Viral it could be; but definitely one to try out on a boring Sunday.

If you are a Pikes Peak or Goodwood fan, this is a must try!

Simple idea - run a fast car along the sidewalk of Blackwood yard with next to no run off. Challenge your friends to the fastest time possible!

No preview this time - try it out to find out!

"Predicted Pole laptime : 1:01.60" - i think its overextended xd
1.01.8x is barely impossible atleast for me. You are probably depending on tb's, but its impossible to get those 2 best sectors
at once.

That's why its a pole predicted time Mik Tongue

If tb is possible, actual time is definitely possible.

+1 if this was a suggestion.

But then LFS will have to adopt a stop marker style (AC?) or F1 codie's Auto grid. Either way, too much work I think for the Devs. But very nice idea

Someone else has been doing this for ages (well, cruise at least) - our resident noobist, GT4Tube.
He edits the clips, edits the replays, times everything. Not sure how you can work with pre-recorded clips mate.

@Rony

Check your PM. This is refurbished EPrix with safety measures in SC2 and not-as-awkward grid positionings. No physical track changes, you can drop the layout right in with no problem.

Refer to attached below, cheers Smile

@michal I'd say Mid-Town Ring. Check it out in layout forum, it will host better race than the EPrix circuit Smile

I rank my layouts in terms of race grade. Eprix is a Grade B (C being the lowest). Mid Town is a A, it has better appointments and is better suited to host larger races. Even has its own marshalling wall gaps!

But that being said, I'd love to see the Eprix getting another run, would be much more interesting seeing if the XRGs produce a tighter race than the slippy LX6s!

I've returned for a brief respite in Layoutting this year. This might be my one and only layout this time; I am indeed busy with other projects around Adobe, Sketchup, 3Ds, aaand you get the point!

Thank you everyone for your support for this series!

Norisring

This is a track I've always wanted to redo, having done a smaller version on Autocross.
Chosen location is Aston - the backdrop and scenery very much suits the environment of the actual track!

DTM does some crazy races here, and Norisring is steeped in history as one heck of a small rocket circuit.
Blitz around the track in the GTRs for that authentic DTM feeling, or take something like the FBM and relive the European FBM Series.

The track is accurately scanned and outlined before put up in LFS. It is correctly scaled, and all environment objects like buildings, grandstands and cranes are exact to real life, giving a great visual display as well as depth, which most object-type layouts lack! Heck, have fun burning some tires!

Below you can find the file for original Norisring layout along with Updated v1 version with "gravel trap" (as seen in bottom post).

Norisring Small Update 1 (V3)

Small update to Norisring layout, with full pit lane with pit boxes, along with a podium.

Also added is a first - prototype "gravel" trap in Turn 1 run-off zone. This is to discourage use of run off, as well as to produce more spectacular off's!
Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhJl1-YsKxo

Acts like a old-style sand trap by slowing cars faster than just the slippery concrete. Also beaches cars like the Formulas or GTR. I hope it simulates well!

(edit) no you can't fly off the wall. Sadly. Thumbs up

See you all in the next edition of Layouts! Na-na
