Hmm...didn't know there was many guitar techies around here so heres the low down...

- Hand selected alder I found on Ottawa (driest I could find, but at the cost of three pieces)
- Canadian maple one piece neck, with rosewood skunk strip, and fretboard, finished in tung oil
- '84 Custom Shop Fender pickups (pulled right out of the guitar for me for $200)
- 250k pots and .22uf caps, handwired by me, with custom layout (B, B+N, M, M+B, N)
- Body was rubbed down with a few coats of 'clear' that ended up tinting the wood to a yellowish (very retro IMO)
- It had a tremelo on the bridge, but I blocked it from behind (more sustain, better tuning stability)

Overall it cost about $500 to build, and took me roughly a month (excluding all the breaks I took)

I've got shets load of pictures, but my camera is pretty crappy so if people want specific shots I'll post them...

Mainly because most demo users come on the forums, start bitching about the game, ask for more cars, tweak, tracks, blahh. Ask with poor grammar, and constantly nag. TBH, theres few demo users here I can actually have a heated discussion with. Not to mention the legal issues we run into with some demo users...

But yes, as Android said, as long as you are respectful, post maturely, and are kind you won't ever have a problem. Only problem I ran into was people catching on about my S2 license (which is valid, very few people keep their demo forum account while using S2)

Well you can always shift into top gear and feather the gas?

Although proper automatic simulation would be nice (overdrive, kickdown, variable shift timing)

You can also use FRAPS and asign a key used to take screenshots, I find it easy to use.

Well...finally got around to finishing up some custom wiring in my guitar. The volume was too sensitive, and tone controls seemed too dark, so I replaced the pots and caps with what I feel has better tone. What better to do then record I just threw together a crude improv in the key of C over a backing track I nabbed off the net.

Heres my guitar after fresh strings and a cleaning for those of you that wanna see it...

Click here for jam track! (opens m3u file)

More to come later, now that my guitar is finished, and ready to play

+1/-1 from me. It depends on how its implemented. But I don't see how blocking demo users from seeing certain sections of the forum will make them want to buy the game, it will probably just piss them off. It would, however, stop the constant flaming, and burning bananas, which is nice. Letting demo users VIEW replays but not test drive is a BAD idea IMO, why give them more? They don't own the game.

Why go for a 2180? the E4300 has twice the cache, drop the multiplyer to 8, bring fsb to 400mhz and you've got 3.2ghz on the stock cooler, running 800mhz RAM Now if you threw it on a proper cooler you can take it even further...

^the 2900 series have decent cooling, but it's not too quiet in 3-D mode. If your not 'up-to-date' with the dual cores, chances are you won't need one running at 'uberhaxx' speed. The E4300 is a great chip (2MB Cache, 800mhz fsb, 9x multi) and is really cheap, but will still perform well overclocked.

Well what do you mean by crusing in high gear? My only experiance in a turbocharged car comes from a slightly BPU'd Supra, and a 13B Mazda RX-7, and whenever we needed to get out of a tight situation, or just get freed up from traffic, you don't HAVE to be in the powerband to get boost. I remember being on the highway with my cousin, and some guy she knew pulled out to pass us, but being the bitch that she is she floored it from about 3grand, no shifting, and it didn't take too long to get full boost (14psi iirc) Quicker then it would have been to drop it a gear, THEN get on it.

Nahh, not Irish. Got the S2 account given to me, long complicated story to go with it. I wish I had the web password for it, to log into LFS World and such.

Thats not really owned...if I had a big enough harddrive I'd probably have about that much music on it. All my 'older' music (stuff I'm not listening to this month) I just burn. That way if my HD fails (which it should soon) I won't be f*cked over.

45Gigs is a fairly round number. I've only got about 40gigs on my computer (space is an issue) but I've got a couple spindles of burnt mp3/wma files on DVD and CD.

The 2900 Pro seems to be reasonable. No need to splurge for the XT. 2 gigs will serve you fine, but theres always room for 2 more gigs later down the road. If your going quad, take a look at the G0 stepping of the Q series, they offer better overclock headroom, and run cooler. If your going Xeon for quadcore, theres not much to point out, all the chips are fine.

I find it causes unwanted weight transfer, especially in those hairy situations. I might use it more often if it ACTUALLY simulated ABS, but it just seems to cut braking power (on all four corners) whenever one tire wants to lock up. Not too efficent if you ask me.

Thanks for the set and replay. I'll take a look at them tomorrow (little busy recording guitar stuff ATM) Wasn't there an option back in the day to adjust handbrake power on its own? Maybe back in S1 days or something, or I could just be a stupid stoner that can't remember anything. What would JDM have anything to do with private setups?

^Don't forget the overclocking headroom of C2D's. 3ghz+ is common on STOCK cooling, and STOCK voltage. 4ghz is seen on air or water too, thats pretty impressive.

Well maybe he took forever to set it up perfectly for him, and wishes to keep it private, because it took him so long, or something along those lines. I nipped over to the Team Inferno site and grabbed a couple drift sets, so I'm set

Not for a longggg time. And this has been discussed many times over. They expected S2 to be done by now, but things don't always go as planned. S3 will probably be here before 2010...
