Whats the need? that 8800 is pretty powerful, I don't think Harjun would ever complain about the performance it puts out. And Harjun, spending the little for an aftermarket heatsink (even nothing fancy, just a Freezer Pro 7 or something) would have been a wise choice, cooler temps are always good.

Yes I agree 100% with you ajp71. If it was brought up to accommodate other 'driving styles' then I suppose it would make sense, but LFS is purely track racing at its finest. Cages are recommended, and really is a precaution worth taking, they are also mandatory in a lot of cases.

Well if you say choice, I'm asuming "no cage - lighter, more body roll" "yes cage - heavier, more stiff"

If thinking that way, it's obvious what the laptime freaks will pick, just my two cents though...

I must say I like the matte (or is it semi-gloss?) finish. Is it really just the camera flash? Doesn't give the guitar a 'bold look-at-my-gpenis' look, more laid back and genuine

You should post up some sort of rhythm or backing and I'll see if I can improv over it, it could be fun

Speaking of grid size, what do you guys prefer? I like just racing with 4-5 decent racers, not too serious, just havin' fun. I find with the larger grid there's alot of bustle going on (not general racing chaos; people getting crazy weird damage, big crashes, fighting etc.)
Although I guess this is just the servers I go to, I imagine league or 'competative' servers are different.

Wow dude, I've always LOVED routing, such a 'progressive' step (you actually see quiet a lot of work quickly) I hate the final touches before paint, and after (and handing is REALLY tiring, and 2000grit wet sanding is just labor)

If you actually want to HEAR your good sounding wood, good pickups are necessary, of course you could use a 'fancy' digital amp to 'suck' the tone out and spit it out raped, but we all hate that. It'll have loud and smooth acoustics tho, I'll give you that.

EDIT: Now that I think of it, prepping the neck and board for frets and a nut is a pain in the ass, I guess thats why I always slow down and work only bits at a time...

Pretty decent setup thats there. The processor IS a huge bottleneck though. But I imagine after a month or so with the PC you'll end up overclocking it reasonably just to get more juice out of it. Congrats on the new PC

Looks great! Better sound good aswell, should have lots of resonance with that wood. What kind of pickups and strings do you plan on putting on it?

What do the other keyboard racers use the mouse buttons for? I use them for gear shifting, and the scroll pushed down for my clutch (scroll up for TC, scroll down for speed limiter) It seems to work quite well, I can manage all my transmission needs with just the mouse.

TBH I find it easier just to use keyboard buttons for gas/brake (as crude as that sounds, it works quite well once you get the hang of it) Althrough I don't race much in the open wheelers, or the GTR class, I seem to manage. Using the mouse for both X and Y axis seems too difficult, as while I move x, y also moves and vise versa...

Hmm...LFS slows down while using WMP, that doesn't seem right. WMP (I use version 10) has a VERY small footprint on your systems processing. Of course you don't have an amazing machine, it should be very capable of running more then one thing at once. I would look into the issue further before thinking of hardware upgrades. I'm sure jakg will come along soon and explain the whole "healthy system" thing, as I'm just too tired.

^No I'm talking about S2 races (but anytime I hit up the servers, things are pretty dead) I hate timezone changes.

I've been in tons of short races with everyone finishing (no more then 10 people or 10 laps) As for long races, usually somebody drops due to connection failure, or just cheeses off because they can't handle the race (I'm guilty of that once or twice)

Seen any 'souped' up Honda worthy of a roll cage?

+1 for the idea. If your gonna be throwing around the FXO, XRT, and RB4 the way we do in LFS, you would want a roll cage, especially considering they are also used on the rally courses.

I've got it mine at 115x22, and my temps are INSANE. It idles at about 30, stays in the mid/high 30 range while browsing, and it's never gone over 45 with stress testing. I wish I knew why my motherboard has such a shitty fsb wall, I KNOW the chip can do more, 330mhz above stock should be nothing.

^I'd dream to have a steady 25+ fps. I'm usually good decent laptimes even down in the 10-15 frame range, I'm not too picky. And yes, I've noticed that too, with every patch, and every update, my framerate dips further and further. But I still don't understand how some people bitch and moan about running 40~fps at the highest res...

I'm sort of curious as to HOW MUCH of a bottle neck an older Celeron actually is. I've been thinking of slapping on an AGP 6600GT and turning this comp into 'my bedroom' machine, but only if I'll actually get a noticable frame increase (I know I'll still be killed at the grid, but that's not an issue)

Well Mutt...you're the second person to send flaming banannas my way, so lets see, you gave me two, and each is worth 5 laps, so thats 10 laps of the oval, in the UF1000. Get driving!

You'll do fine. I have less memory, and WAYYY worse graphics card and I can still scrape double digit frames at 800x600 (with low-res textures of course)

Pretty cool place, can you drive on that surface or no? And as for taking screens on a crappy computer, you'd be surprized. I can only do 1024x768 with no AA or AF, that is MAX, and if too much stuff is going on LFS will just crash. So don't be thinking everybody can just magically make games look good.

The Ultimate Shopping Story
Well my mom dragged me to the grocery store for the first time since I was 10 a few days ago. And all the memories flooded back. Making forts out of paper towel packages, wandering the isles picking up random things, and SHOPPING CART RACES!! I was driftingzz teh shopping cart around the produce isle, but my vtak never kicked in so it smashed into the lettuce, and broke teh neonz (cucumbers at the front of the cart) My mom came over and started screaming at me, I seriously forgot that I was 15. I looked at the cart laying on the ground, and the lettuce everywhere, and I just said to my mom "damn marshals never let me know there was lettuce ahead"
