Ouch. newegg is american. And your saying they ship to somebody, who ships over the border to me? No thanks, I'd rather not have my ass ripped open by customs duty and shipping fee's.

Meh I'm canadian what do you expect. I just found www.ncix.com and it seems to be a good place to build up a PC, their prices are reasonable.

Well I can't find the 8600. The 8800 GTS (320MB) is $750, I'll take a look online, because at the rate things are going, I'll have no wallet if I buy locally.

Yea the Asus isn't FINAL, but its staying there untill I can find something for a better deal. This whole PC with monitor will be a tad under $1,400. I was looking into the Tuniq, and honestly, from all the reviews I've read, the Scythe kicks its ass.

EDIT: http://www.nordichardware.com/ ... ?page=5&skrivelse=500 there they had one running 3501mhz on 1.475 vcore, and heat wasn't too extreme.

Well I'm throwing it on a Asus P5N-E SLI which supports 400mhz fsb. It will be matched with some OCZ Special Ops 6400. And topped with a Scythe Mine to keep things cool. I've seen 3.5 on air a few times, so I figure it won't be too hard.

Questionare

Do you guys think that a E4300 clocked at 3.5ghz matched with a Nvidia 7900 GS (with slight OC) in a good quality computer will suffice for some LFS and CS:S playing?

For the "perfect fps" thing I notice a difference between 20 and 30...and from 30 to 40 things become smoother, and anything over 50 I notice no difference. And don't forget monitors can only refresh so much, so anything over the refresh rate of the monitor is pointless.

Wow Jakq your kind of being a dick. He wasn't talking about different physics. He was just pointing out the fact that at smooth fps (50+) it's easier to drive, and yeilds faster laptimes.
~Bryan~

EDIT: Okay Jakq you should limit your ingame fps to 1 and try to run an average lap time...

I can't really help but I'm curious as to what hardware you have and what settings you run LFS at...

Doing some BL GP qualifying today. Took turn one a little sketchy, and hit the right front tire off the barrier, managed to save it coming out of corner and ended with a 1:26 I believe.

I'm Canadian too. I payed $60 for Need For Speed Underground 2 for PC when it came out. The PS2 games at walmart are over $60. Xbox games hit almost $80. Most new PC games from big names cost upwards of $70 with taxes. And they are all the same, play it, beat it, get bored of it. But with LFS, which is cheaper, you get a game that you won't lose, won't get bored of (Comunity keeps growing) and a game that you will never beat (I'd like to see you get every car/track combo record and hold them)

I've done a few tweaks to the Inferno set and killed the lockup after the straight. I also have it so its not too loose, but the back end still likes to kick out when the tires arn't quite at or slightly over optimal tempuratures. I'll take a look at that replay, and try the set and get back to you with a replay of my own. Thanks again,

Meh, I switched it off and I'm living with it. I just finished two 5 lap races at BL GP online. it was 1:36 first lap, 1:28's for the rest of the laps. I can't seem to improve.

-Yea, I thought some of my loose ends were due to RPM's being too high, so I'll try comming out of corners in third next time. I do run manual, with auto clutch. I DO have cut on upshift turn on, I like it for the realism, and hate hearing the RPM's jump when shifting, but I guess I could change it.

-I'm starting to work on the slow in, fast out thing. But I'm still learning my braking points.

Thanks for the help And when I get a chance I'll practice those tips and post another replay.

My Goal
dropin_biking
S3 licensed
Well Guys, I consider myself to be a good LFS racer. I play defensively, but sometime push things and get a little sketchy on a few corners. I mainly drift and rally race. Ever sense I became a good drifter my rally skills have gotten better. With XRT I hit low 1:11's on BL Rally, and low 9's on reversed. I really want to work on my Blackwood GP skills. I finally got around to taking a good look at it (Way back in the day I raced GP with the XRG, before I could handle the XRT) and I was average. But Now I got a good setup (Inferno) And Ran two laps online. pulled a 1:29 second lap. I noticed the back was a little sloppy so I lowered tyre pressure a TAD, and softened up the real anti-roll bar. So hopefully that will keep things a little more stable. I want to get under 1:25, that is the goal I have set. I have attached the two lap replay if you guys want to look over it and correct my lines, but I personally think all I need to do is smooth things out. Thanks in advance.

Thats probably just picked up as a virus because Norton thinks that what it does is screw with your comp. But if the file is true to its tittle then it's just a crack, and Norton just reads it as a harmful file.

^Yes, but still. Having more fps then what the moniter can refresh per second is un-noticable. Thats why so many people I know crank settings, and just set frame limit to 60. Because really anything over 50~ doesn't make a gameplay difference, IMO.

Great program, really amazing work. You deserve an S2 licence. As for Drift apprentice I don't see how you are so pissed about framerates, your moniter can only refresh so fast (60hz = 60fps, 70hz=70fps) So really, you can't see a difference past 85fps (Asuming you have a CRT or LCD moniter that has the usual refresh rates up to 85hz)

^Nice screenshots, I really liked that RB4 getting some air at the end. Too bad LFS doesn't have under-body modeling yet.

I was looking on this forum and there is no thread specifically for Rally screenshots so here it is. Any car, any mode, as long as it's a rally track. Please no direct image tags (want to keep this thread good for 56k users) Also, I encourage you to host images with Photo Bucket, or Image Shack to save server space on LFS.
