Quote from tristancliffe : Despite the fact that I have the most posts here, I don't feel the need to vent my brain in every thread of Scawens (or anybodies) if it is above me. I suggest a few more people here do the same.

I think this is the major factor myself. Many of the less established members see a post by Scawen and think, "oh I've got to post in the same thread as the dev, and look like I know a lot." Just trying to impress I guess?

The U11 patch mainly happened whilst we were away this weekend at the karting, and I came back to find 3 or 4 pages of people asking the same thing, which meant in the end I just decided to go back to post 1 and just download rather than contribute to the discussion.

I'm all for a "special team" so to speak, if it improves the discussion and ultimately progress of each development.

Quote from Hankstar :You, sir, are indeed a gentleman. Let's continue this down at the polo club and stop cluttering up this perfectly decent thread with our spam

Instead I'll post this, an education on why we call net abuse, SPAM. Includes a history of email spam.

Quote from Hankstar :Come now, old chap. I'm on your side, what!

If gentlemen such as yourself keep posting in this manner, with such beautiful use of the English language, this forum would be a pleasure to read.

Quote from Hankstar :sift through it all to find the useful stuff without ripping into the idiots who clutter it all up,

Ahem, Tristan. Woohoo! I think he's getting at you my friend...

Or maybe people who post spam like this?

Quote from Huru-aito :Compatible patches have been (and will be?) tested by the general public, and I'm guessing it's because Scawen can get feedback from a wider range of users with different PC specs, LFS configs etc right after he has changed the code. This can't be done with incompatible patches because of online community dividing into separate groups.

I haven't read this forum as much as I used to, mainly because of so much rubbish is being posted to be honest. And in wrong sections. "Sorry but I need to post this in Main forum because it needs the attention!" I wonder why the other sections exist at all..

I'm not calling out for strict moderating of the forums, just common sense when posting (and when common sense fails, moderators moving threads to correct addresses)..

:iagree:

I personally think that the quality of postings in general has fallen, discounting the regulars. Often I have waded through 4 pages of stuff and wondered why!

I don't think the thread location problem is too bad though, usually somebody mentions it and it's moved.

Quote from sil3ntwar :If LFS has a strong beta test group then test patches should be kept to them. If i dont know about them i cant be disappointed that im missing out and im sure they will find the problems and give the suggestions we give without the needless spam.

I disagree, you can never have enough testers, whether beta or just us guys. In theory we all are testers anyway, as Live for Speed is still in Alpha remember.

Quote from cubics : No offence but you are probably too slow for me. :P

ROFL, nothing like embracing the community. I'll let you be quick in Demo cars. Must be fun!

Quote from tristancliffe :Nah, Chris once did a sub 3 minute lap time, and took out over 25 drivers in the same lap. Not on purpose either.

Night Chris, you big hairy hunk of love

That's good for S2 servers these days!

I love you too.

I personally thought Northampton was a good spot, central, with what seemed a varied nightlife. However I can understand peoples desires to move elsewhere and this was mentioned during the weekend.

It's important that if we do decide to change venues, that we try to still avoid extremes, as this could result in the loss of certain people coming to the event.

For me I'd say it would have to be paintballing or karting rather than both, for cost and organisation reasons more than anything else. Has anyone ever been white-water rafting, that is meant to be good too?

Strange, as that's not what the majority have chosen.

Quote from Calum :To Chris ...

I dunno if it has much to do with social backgrounds , its just some people are lazy I think.

From Eldanor ...

It's probably a bit of both.

Quote : Maybe those special threads (test feedback) could take some moderator special attention, even deleting offtopics/whines, IMHO.

I think it's wrong to have to rely on the moderators of this forum to dictate how a thread develops. They have to decide where does a post cross the line, which could become difficult in this type of situation.

Quote from cubics :Nice set, but it should have normal tyres because it displays a warning about them when exiting the pits.

Wrecking is great isn't it ... do you do it?

What's your IP so I can join the same server as you?

Unfortunately as the consumer base grows, people from different social backgrounds are going to continue visit these forums, resulting in what happened in the U11 thread.

Whereas in the early days the game / this forum appealed to a niche market consisting of what I would call a more "mature" people, with the inclusion of the BF1 and the rise in popularity and public reviewing, I fear it is going to mean that more and more new people will visit these forums and post away without knowing or thinking what they are doing.

I hope that I'm proven wrong and that the increased popularity will bring more community members that we can respect, but with the state of public servers and the apparent younger, less educated audience spamming the forum with useful un-punctuated drivel, I somehow doubt it.

EDIT: 400 up, well played Chris... *Pats back*

Quote from WMD :Hi everyone.

I recently bought a license for LFS S2, but now my steering is acting a bit strange. I have a König Lightspeed Wheel, and when i want to steer in LFS, the front wheels of the car start shaking badly, which makes me spin out all the time. I also noticed that when i steer only a little bit, the wheels don't even turn... How can I alter my setup so that these problems can be solved?

Cheers,
Koen

Try fiddling with the wheel turn option, it's in Options > Controls

Quote from Fordman :Well that was 1/2 dozen of one and 1/2 dozen of the other. He was actualyl sent of for "shoving Ronaldo" And explain the Wink Ronaldo gave to the side line afterwards? But anyway, it happens. I would pay to be a fly on the wall at the Man Utd training around

My guess is Ronaldo won't be there next season, hence why he did it.

Quote from 510N3D :sure it would not be a problem but if you know the hole story you would think different.

I think I know enough of the basic concept, The Very End has a server named close to yours (FM), because you've had a fallout.

Even so, he can call his server what he wants.
