Whoever did that needs serious punishment from the authorities.

Sever bad taste.

If any artificial driving aids such as Pitspotter are included by the devs they will have gone against everything this game is about.

The subject matter of racing room is a skill which should be learnt through experience and not an aid.

Yes thanks for your help. I hadn't installed the logitech profiler. If it hadn't been for you I wouldn't have remembered.

The setup is side of the game is something I wish I could delve into too. With limited technical knowledge though it is very difficult. I think the whole issue on people falling in and out of love with this type of game is purely down to the amount of time it often takes to be competitive. Also in order to play it properly in my case it means setting up my wheel, which I can't always be "arsed" to do.

Anyway, Roll on the good times!
Doubts put to rest.

Hey guys, during recent weeks I'd found myself falling out of love with this simulator, I felt that general attiude of racers online in both the racing world and on here was declining. Having had to work full time before University I just didn't have the motivation to come home and get myself on LFS.

Now I hate clogging up the forum with this type of "I'm back" rubbish, as those of you who know me I feel quite strongly about forum ettiquette, but bear with me.

Having purchased myself a laptop, I decided to see whether I could get LFS running. After inital frustration with my wheel, forgetting to install the correct software, I found myself logging into my first public server in what felt like a lifetime.

Although I didn't really race at my usual standard, I felt myself getting the bug back, enough so to come on here a read the forums properly again. I can quite honestly say that this is a testiment the quality of both the game and the community. As some of you may know, I'm not a person that does things by half, so to really feel like getting back into the community as soon as I have had some spare time again really says a lot.

So I'd like to say hello to everyone I haven't spoken to in the time I've been away. I'll be actively helping a few projects again, and knocking around with my vMaxSR racing tag. It is dependent on having broadband acess at Uni, but lets face it, what halls haven't these days.

In order for this thread to be constructive and not a waste of bandwith, I'd like to hear any of your stories of life without LFS and how you came back.

Always around 50 for me, but have tried different AA and AF setting recently which has effected performance slightly.

Quote from tristancliffe :I think it's great personally.

I'd like to know why? Surely F1 should be the pinnacle of motorsport, allowing the best technology regardless of the price?

Quote from AndroidXP :Okay, I've now made the ultimate F9 explanation picture that will from now on be posted in every thread regarding this stuff

If you find anything terribly important to improve on it, please tell me and I'll add it (if I want)

This picture deserves to be stickied or put in a stickied thread. Very good simple explanation of how the tyre system works in LFS.

Good stuff XP

Quite a few forum members have expressed an initial interest I think, maybe 10-12. Not too bad for such an early stage for an event. Axus has shed more light above

We didn't realise you were planning on such an event, so I hope you aren't offended.

I'm a sucker for the old acoustic guitar, so currently playing when I'm online is a bit of Jack Johnson and Ryan Adams.

The umpires in question and the ICC's actions to an apparent use of ball tampering, have been in line with the code of conduct that applies to all forms of the game. They are not at fault.

The Pakistan team have reacted too strongly to an accusation thrown at them by an umpire with previous history with Asian teams. They shouldn't have stayed off the pitch but you could argue that the umpires could have consulted other parties before making the decision.

Pakistan are now trying to cover their backs, which isn't going to be possible with a few pictures that have come to light in the last few days. They should be punished, but as a team. Not just an individual. Asking for an instant disqualification from future test matches is just stupid.

Say they have been ball tampering, this would have been at most 2-3 members of the team, you can't label and tarnish a whole nation with the same brush.

Quote from SamH :I do very much agree with you. I have always felt that the greater the obstacles, the more severe the adversities, the greater the struggle.. through these you achieve the greater the victory. Whether it's a difficult chicane or a challenging opponent.

I understand and agree with this statement 100%.

Having said that, often the quality of driving from the back marker is that poor in LFS, it's sometimes impossible to get past safely. Hence why more times than not, the quicker racers publically get annoyed with these people.

Also, as much as I appreciate what you are trying to get at, we can't compare LFS races to professional races we see on the telly. We can strive for realism, but we will never replicate the way we would react if racing in real life.

Therefore to ask and expect people who don't take the game as seriously as some of us to do this, isn't going to happen.

Another mod on the way, but for now I guess it should go in other mods.
