Quote from gezmoor :Pretty impressive. Interesting to note that from the outside it was pretty damn realistic. Only a couple of minor things like the glass being too transparent most of the time (given it was a bright sunny day), and the Carbon being too shiny. However, the second the vid moves in to the interior it becomes immediately obvious that it's computer generated. Somehow the intererior textures just dont seem to have that "real" feel, especially the alloy parts.

That said, THAT is what I'm talking about when I talk about real high quality in-game graphics, not the stupidly bloomed cartoony effects of NFS etc. LFS has a long way to go to achieve anything close to it.

Well, I don't think LFS will ever look anything like that. One reason enough for me, do you wanna download est. 4 GB (or more) everytime uncompatible patch comes out?

As for the render, it's good, but nothing really out of this world. There are some crazy animations etc. around (not about cars, but nevertheless(sp?)). I don't think we'll see that kinda stuff with full grid and good physics soon.

These are all just my thoughts, so... yeah, could be wrong (hope I am)

Yeah, thanks for the info. I've read it now on MS site, it doesn't need it.

Some of my friends are really lazy and CBA to double check info.

Thanks again

Did anyone installed official release (not a torrent download) as a standalone installation? I've heard it requires Vista to be installed?

Please, only first hand exprience

Start - Run - dxdiag

There you will find pretty much everything you need

Yep, reproducing that bug every time here too.

Full screen - shift + f4 - minimize - maximize - shift +f4 = locked wheel

Then that will make 4 of us . I'm quite happy how it performs on my PC, but extra boosts are always welcome

My GFWL account is "TeJKBe" if anyone is interested (didn't touch MP yet though).

Quote from Bose321 :You meant HDR i think? anyways, yeah, AA is compatible in DX9, so it's a kind of a fail that they need DX10 to have AA?

Yeah, had many mistakes in that post (some much worse then that)

Should be ok now

Quote from mr_x :I laughed at that too, but apparently you can't have HDR lighting (or whatever lighting they use) and AA on DX9. I think Far Cry 2 suffered from this too - I am aware one of the other recent big releases did anyway. only DX10 supports AA AND HDR lighting.

I asked my brother about that (he was a 3d engine programmer etc.) and he told me,
if I recall it correclty, it has to do something with the way GTA IV renders the image.
He said something about textures, but I didn't quite understand him

Anyway, HDR and AA are compatible in DX9. just this one case is death for AA and R* choosed to go that way lol

According to this thread , GTA IV does work on XP x64. You just need:
- .NET Framework 3.5
- Windows Media Encoder 9 Series x64 Edition
- SP2

And apparently it works on Vista x64 too, so I'll just install that as it's collenting dust on a shelf anyway (in a worst case scenario).

Can someone from here confirm that it does work at least on x64 Vista?
I don't like RAM limit in x32 OS's

Quote from hrtburnout :http://tweakers.net/nieuws/571 ... rsie-gta-iv-oplossen.html <- That's the one.

It basically sums up the problems people had with GTA IV so far. And it announces that Rockstar is working on it.

Is it crappy babel fish translator or does it really say GTA IV doesn't work on 64 bit Win XP?

Erik, could you please post some more details? I can't quite work my way around that site

Or a direct link so I can put it through some crappy translator

Edit: with some poking around blindly, I've menaged to find the article

For Hi res skins, yes (2 pounds for 2000 skins I think).

As for normal skins, you download them when you join the server.
You need to enable Automatic skins download somewhere in options.

Edit: You can also download skins when you watch a replay.

Quote from Mackie The Staggie :Well to be honest, if you can't get out of the sodding pit garage without contact with a wall, then maybe, just maybe (and I'm going out on a limb here) the race track is not for you.

Maybe, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be fixed. My guess it will be fixed along with other impact detection flaws in LFS.
You could say tire curves beyond limit doesn't need to be correct becouse to put a fast lap down you won't go too much beyond the limits.
Doesn't make much sense, does it?
