Quote from John5200 :at least they tell they BUY theyr games (what i doupt hardly sometimes )

I've heard stories like that too, many times.
For some strange reason, they never want to play online with me
(if I happen to have a game we are talking about).

Quote from UnknownMaster21 :Z10 only, not Z patch, Aston has these errors

I've tried in both versions (Z10 and Z patch) and can only reproduce it at the first corner (Aston Club), behind the tires, in both Z and Z10 patch.
Your report that is at the last corner near the barrier I can't reproduce either in Z or Z10 patch.

BTW, since this is clearly not a bug in test patch, but "old" LFS bug, we probably shouldn't discuss it here

Unknownmaster21:
Could you test again with clean installs (like me) and if it happens again post some more details how to reproduce it (is it a race/practice; what weather; custom color/some of the presets etc.)

edit: Ok, i can also reproduce it on first corner like lfsn00b (z10 and z patch), but no luck at the barrier like unknownmaster21

Quote from Whisper :I guess you can never release dev tools to the public, then, else people would port all the cars and tracks into all the versions, and/or just make a million new ones, which would eliminate the appeal of upgrading.

I think S3 should have something more substantial than just a few new cars and tracks to set it apart. Perhaps weather effects and night driving could be limited to S3 only.

Because I'd really like to have some kind of SDK available, so people can finally make their own content. Unless of course the tools and mods are only made to work with S3. Though someone will hack that no doubt.

Yes, but same as now, it will not work online if it's cracked (I guess).
To much ifs and guesswork with this, so I'm gonna back up now .
Lets all be healthy and see the day S3 comes to download section

Quote from Whisper :Updates to the core tech - graphics, physics, weather effects, etc. And hopefully some proper development tools.

Yes, but everything that updates the core is available for S1, S2, S3 and demo too, not just S3 exclusive .
So at the end of the day, cars and tracks are what is different among S1, S2 and S3.

Quote from gohfeld23 :Cookies sound good right about now. :P

But seriously, if content expansion in terms of tracks is reserved for S3+, the future really doesn't look bright for us.

Why do you say that? Becouse S3 is far away from now?
Well, we don't really know how far is that "far", might be not that far after all

Quote from Tomba(FIN) :Even more tracks and cars?

Well, we have 2 cars unplanned in S2 release (3 with VWS). Sure, two of them are SSs, and might not be that unique, but they are there and who knows what will happen in the future.

Don't get me wrong, I would too love new content and whatnot, but I'm happy with how LFS is progressing (sort of)

Quote from S14 DRIFT :When you say "buggered" patch, I don't think it would be that "buggered"... they had made that video and it looked pretty sorted.. and if they weren't so close to releasing it, they wouldn't have said in the announcement.. Unless it was a core problem...

GTA IV videos look good too, but truth is far from that
I'm not saying LFS is buggy like GTA IV, just making a point

Quote :
Yeah, I see what you're saying. But yeah, if you're only going to do one patch a year, how bloody hard is it to tell me us a few of the features?

And yup, I agree with you, it's between case 1 and 2 in your example...

Because features may be over hyped and it will never be as good as in our heads, even if they are pretty much spot on
That is just one reason of the top of my head.

As for tracks and cars add-ons.
Licences are sold for content (cars and tracks) they offer.
If they release more tracks and cars now, what the hell they would offer for S3? Cookies?

Quote from FlyingSam :Yes, Scawen is right on what he says, but that's what happen when you promise a patch early 2009, I think they would explain why it's now delayed again without any news or posts from the devs (apart of the Scawen's post "moving house", supposely they started to work on it again on half February). Anyway, it's not in the main LFS web, where they puslish all news, so like not everybody read the forum, not everybody knows anything about Scawen and patches.

Solution? publish some news saying something like "sorry for delay, we still working on it, you will have more news soon", in that way, many people will stop asking for Scirocco, patch and devs, Don't you think?

I don't consider it delayed, but I also don't hang around here waiting for it.
That "early 2009" term is relative.
Community is the one who started defining what is early '09 and so on.

I don't think some simple 2 line post from devs will help.
Community will define "soon" as week/two weeks, most probably in days even,
and start moaning all over again after a week of silence

Anyway, I'm going home and do something else with my free time 'till I receive mail saying patch is out

This reply not even 2 months old isn't enough, STF?

Quote from Scawen :If people could stop saying "Scawen is alive!" and "Eric is alive!" as if that is surprising in some way, it would be helpful.

We are just working on LFS as we always have, no change at all.

As usual we are working on some things you know about and some things you don't know about. There is too much discussion on this forum about what is happening with LFS, where are the devs etc...

The answer is just too simple, we are working on LFS, as we have done for many years and continue to do. There is no reason to think anything different, it is just pure fantasy created in the minds of a few noisy forum users, for no reason other than they can't think of anything else to do while they wait for an update in their favourite simulator.

Anyway, I really don't know what to say about this talk in this thread, mixed emotions.
I understand some views, some are plain ridiculous, and other just stupid (NHF :shrug.

As much I would like (as anyone else, probably even Scavier) more public info and whatnot, sometimes that just isn't possible for varius reasons. Even for simple things like making a plan for shopping, let alone a big buisness.
For example, for a week I'm putting off going to shops to buy new gear for riding and I love riding bikes, but I just didn't had the energy to go look around or more important stuff got in a way.

I can go into speculation mode too and say that maybe they are reworking their master plan becouse of new sims on the market are gettin' pretty damn good.
Two years ago I didn't even think about any other sim (not counting GPL and RBR), but it seems market has taken a sharp turn and you know (well, some maybe) 2 years can fly like nothing so to speak.
Please don't go naming other sims flaws now, that's not the point.

All I can do right now is keep my faith in Scavier, good luck guys!

P.S. I didn't play LFS for a long long time (any other car race sim too), but still when I go for some pick up racing every now and then,
there's always (and I really mean always) a grin on my face after a session. Not something that happens on much other sims, or games in general for that matter.
That tells something, after all this time.
Sure, call me fanboy now .
Long "P.S.", eh?

Quote from boosterfire :I said to me it was an hypothesis, and why would I know that it's something completely fictional? The complete lack of information leaves us free to make all the hypothesis we want. Whether that particular one is far fetch or not is very arguable, and in my opinion, it is not. I just don't see a reason for Scawen and Eric, which are both very competent, to spend 4 extra months on something they said was almost ready 4 months ago. I agree that jumping straight to the 'legal reasons' theory is probably not right, and that I'm sure we could find more plausible answers, but there's no way I'll believe the 'they're still working on it'.

Again, all this speculation and moaning could have been avoided if we had just a tad of information.

Quoted you, but this goes to all of you with big imaginations

Quote from Scawen :
Yes, this thread is basically spam so I'll close it now.

Just one small note for those (small minority) who think that comments, jokes, whatever about the Scirocco are "motivational" for the devs...

Actually it's just a minor irritation, which doesn't affect development apart from wasting our time a little bit and making the forum a less pleasant place. As I mentioned before we are working on some things you know about and some you don't, so there are other things happening that further delay the Scirocco. Don't think we are here working full time on the Scirocco and somehow taking months to release it. We are quite happy working on various things and will release the Scirocco when it is ready. That's just how it goes...

And by the way we don't "need" to employ more staff so we can release more stuff and make more money. As most people know, the reason for the existence of LFS is because we decided to leave a game company and work in a completely different way. We have seen before and don't wish for the responsibility of employees and running a company, with all that would bring and the inevitable consequences of turning LFS into a full-blown commercial product where money would become the most important thing. There is no problem here, LFS development simply continues, it takes a while but gradually gets better over time, and that's fine! We are quite happy with it!

I suggest reading bold red text multiple times, just so it gets in your head already

Spring is here, go out and pick some flowers or something

I don't think the SV and the VTR look much alike, except for the fact that they are both big V-Twins The VTR is an awesome bike, I wouldn't mind riding an SP2. It's in a different class than the SV, though. The SV is usually classified as a "sport cruiser", whereas the VTR is a much sportier bike and is classed in the "racing" category or whatever.

What I meant was that the position of the exhaust reminded me of an VTR.
No way in hell do they look alike on any other level

I really need to learn to express myself better

Although, "theoretically" anything is possible, so... um... yea...
