Quote from Gunn :Here is my take (attached), but listening to it now I think it needs a lot of improvement. Still, the idea is there.

We are planning on a longer remake, any blues muso's should step up to the mic and we can do some bluesy justice to this cool little ditty by Astro.

Yeahhh man !
How blue can this get ?
Awesome "mouthharmonica"

Where is the bass, and the drums. I cant hope for the B3 or the b4. But one is allowed to dream

Quote from Astro [ BJRL ] :well - MZWizard, I really wish you hadn't posted that link, but I'll let it go this time as I know you did it in good faith.
I don't like the thread turning into something about ME and what I do, but as stated, hoped to inspire someone.
Not that I'll neglect wishes for more tunes or music.
That piece you linked, is something I did almost a year ago, before obtaining new instrument. It's a Shadows instrumental and I only did it to get used to handling recording software ( I used Audition ) and to play around with tracks.
I would have chosen a different piece if I had the saying, and I know you have most of my stuff.
To set things right. Allan says I did do Johnny B Goode, but is is mistakenly confusing that with Roll Over Beethoven, which too, is a Berry number much like Johnne B Goode in style and sound.

Yeahh

I remembered wrong, but I know that you once was interested in Johnny B goode. That confused me. I ´m over 50 and are allowed to forget something all the time

(That`s a joke in danish. Don`t know if it is in english)

It`s pure genius, John. Good text, and a moody swinging rock/blues style.

Maby you could talk someone into a little drumming, and find a bassman here too

That would be really nice

We close our present team, Team Den Blå Avis, tonigth, at midnigth.
4 of our racers joins other teams, and the rest of the pack opens up the acr team once more.
7 racers are on the team, with invitations to a few more :

Tomas Linnet (Tumz dk)
Kristian Pedersen (Sir. Pingo)
Kenneth Nissen (N!sse)
Jan Israelsen (Freeliner)
Martin Sinkjær (Attila)
John Borgbjerg (Borbjerg DK)
Allan Didriksen (Alland44)

This time we are open for racers from other nations, and we are instantly seeking danish racers. Just contact one of the members, and we`ll talk about joining us

We don`t only seek the fastest racers, we seek racers which drives clean and fair. Good sportmanship is a must, to get into our team !

We have decided on a flat management, without team managers, and will select the persons, who speak for us, when an event is near by.

A few words about the breakup. We never ever had any problems, on Team Den Blå Avis. We break up as very good friends, and we, from team acr, looks at this, as a big chance to get better connected with international teams through our friends, driving there. So I shall say this only once - "We are still very very good friends", all of us

Team Den Blå Avis had to go, and it could have been the 31/12, but we did set the end of BOTT, as the date for closing dba.

We from Team acr, are looking forward to the comming season, and we will try to get involved with so many races, as possible.

Look in the mirror, because "We`re right behind you" !

Quote from MZWiZard :As i recall it things were not as sweet as you and Richard make it... But anyway I wish team dba racers good luck with their future racing

We talk about the team Jesper !
Inwards, things was really good.

Outwards, envy, "law of the jantes" and other things made this project impossible

The Law of Jante

You shall not think that you are special
You shall not think that you are of the same standing as us
You shall not think that you are wiser than us
Don't fancy yourself as being better than us
You shall not think that you know more than us
You shall not think that you are more (important) than us
You shall not think that you are good at anything
You shall not laugh at us
You shall not think that anyone cares about you
You shall not think that you can teach us anything

We must see, how the danish community copes with this, Do you want to work for the danish community ??

Richard offered a lot of money and personal time, in Team dba and the danish community. Now we must see, what his critics can do !????

The danish community has lost the most important person. There are only you, and me left now. Not you Jesper, but every danish person which reads this.

What will you do now !??????

Play R-Factor ????????

Hopefully, the closing of Team DBA, will result in the birth, or should I say, RE RE REBIRTH, of Team acr. (Africola Racing)

We danes are very sad, but we are proud of the last year, when we tried to make a difference, as Team Den Blå Avis.

I don`t think we failed, as a team. We actually had the best team, the danish Lfs community ever had gathered. Good racers, and good human behaviour.

Richard Torp, and Esben Jahn, the two most fair and clean racers in little Denmark, are seeking new teams. I can only envy the team that they end up with. They are getting two of the best racers in the Lfs community. I`m not speaking about their racing abillities, but the "whole package" their future team will get.

Understand this. There was no misunderstanding between these two, and the rest "of the pack". Things happened in the danish community, that made Richard and Esben leave. This is a logical solution, to the present history of Lfs in Denmark.

I wish Esben and Richard the best, in the future.

Quote from SparkyDave :I think the word you are looking for Hyper is "Impersonal" and I agree its very easy to keep a distance with a gun especially a rifle, just remember the sniper attacks in ther states.

people will always have grudges, illnesses etc and some will always go on to kill thats in some part human nature, arming yourself with a deadly weapon is not.

I partially agree with RacerY that a finger is involved with pulling a trigger, However if you remove the gun from that finger would you not save lives in an easyer way than councilling everyone that owns a gun?

I know that some guns are legitametly used for hunting, and sports and in countrys with better gun laws its alot harder for individuals to purchase or aquire them, and its much harder to buy hollowpoint rounds etc, thats got to help keep the number or killings down.

I just dont get people who say "guns dont kill, people do" because yes people do kill, so why do we have to make it easy for them and provide guns and bullets (how far do you want go imean "guns dont kill, bullets do? or bullets dont kill, loss of blood kills") it all just frustrates me.

SD.

I can only second you !

I found this, which contains some interesting statistics :

http://www.bordeglobal.com/for ... index.php?showtopic=15667

Just look at this :

Comparison of U.S. gun homicides to other industrialized countries:
In 1998 (the most recent year for which this data has been compiled), handguns murdered:

373 people in Germany (1 per 220,995 people)
151 people in Canada (1 per 217,252 people)
57 people in Australia (1 per 350,877 people)
19 people in Japan (1 per 6,706,170 people)
54 people in England and Wales (1 in 1,119286 people)
11,789 people in the United States (1 per 25,085 people)

Among 26 industrialized nations, 86% of gun deaths among children under age 15 occurred in the United States.

Quote from Shotglass :as one guy from penny arcade once put it in one of their podcasts "he was a violent eff of course he played those games"

and i have to agree ... cause and effect alll jumbled up in the media and the minds of seemingly religious people

there was a really stupid thing i heard from a german female priest that ran for bishop a while ago but didnt get the job because of her kid born out of marriage (evangelic so technically she did nothing wrong)
anyway point is that she claimed the military uses these games to desensitze soldiers to killing and she seems like the actually believed that bs
(to put a cherry on top they went on to discuss how wikipedia can be edited by anyone and how it therefore is unreliable ... i wish i had a big [citation needed] sign when she spewed that nonsense about military training simulations)

keep in mind that the blood is the only way to tell if youve hit your opponent or not ... in that respect its a bit like playing lfs with or without force feedback (yes i know apples to oranges but the point is its about feedback from the game not about enjoying seeing blood)
anyone whos ever seen configuration of top quake players will know that the last thing they want is an accurate representation of real world killing on their screens

I love disco music

Quote from Blackout :Because you have no wild life to kill, most of our weapons are for hunting.

That is so naive. All history books would probably be on the banned lists too, and the Bible too! They all have blood and guts spilled around, human history is violent. People have been killing each other way before there was literature or moving pictures to take influence from. You simply can not ban history books, or any book, because majority of sane people read them to learn from the mistakes people before have made. That's why you have history lessons in schools!

And who would choose what book is accepted which one is banned? If you give someone that power, it will be used for personal gain and we would go back to middle ages. Next thing would be censor the internet, say a bad word and you are cut off. Freedom of expression is what the civilized world should stand for, it's for the individual to choose who he thinks is wrong who right, and what he thinks is good. That idiot journalist can say what ever he wants, but I think he is writing utter shite. Protecting people with censorship is over reaction, and against everything I believe.

I am a simple person, and my simple thoghts says. If you have no gun, you can`t kill another person with a bullet.

I am not after the Finns, or the americans. My only bussiness in this matter is to tell everybody. If you have no gun, you can`t kill no other person, with a gunshot.

And I must admit. I know a lot of people which are hunters. Denmark is a hunting nation. I guess around 200.000 people out of 5.5 million peoples are hunters. I know about 25 of them believe me, when I say, that 80% of denmark is hunting area

This is not about me scolding Finland -This is me scolding GUNS !!

I really like Finland, and sweden, and norway, so that is not the question !! If this has happened in denmark, my reacton would have been the same

Quote from mrodgers :It depends on the onboard graphics. I have a real POS computer at work that we use to watch replays of our racing during lunch with the S1 demo. S2 came out and I can no longer load LFS. I get the "can't initialize graphics" error. Nothing changed on the computer. It is an old computer with an old Intel onboard graphics chip.

My computer at home has an ATI X200 onboard chip. I happily played LFS almost nightly at 25-40 FPS (could dumb the graphics down more for 80 FPS if I wanted to...)

My other computer also loads LFS fine. It just doesn't have the processor power to run LFS with any decent look and frame rate. It has 16 mb shared onboard Intel Extreme graphics chip. It's the 667 MHz that kills it. But my 7 year old plays LFS on it quite a bit.

And this could also be the solution to the problem
Let`s hope your onboard card can cope

Quote from rotordori :Hey

My video card has stopped working and now my computer is running of the onboard one.
Is it possible to run lfs with and onboard video card.
Because when i try and open it at the moment it says

' LFS: Could not detect and suitable screen modes '

any ideas

thanks in advance

Rotor Dori

You have set the old card, so high in quality, that the onboard card can`t cope with this. Open the setupfile and remove the setting for the old card, then you should be able to choose a new

EDIT :
Setupfile is in the Lfs root.

Quote from deggis :I think this applies to games too:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=X6bbXgUNOws

I'm already afraid that age ratings laws regarding movies and games are getting more strict because of this. I bet there will be at least many hypocrite persons from "Grandmas Worried About Children" unions to blame tv and game violence on television talk shows during the next few weeks...

Someone just happened to be Sherlock enough and found his Battlefield 2 game stats (saying that he had been online just few hours before the act) from the net and now that's already all over the news and you can read between the lines that "the shooter was a video game nerd".

.

First, I saw that episode in the tv, long time ago, so I was aware of that. Second, i Don`t think that violent videogames are mentally healthy !

Third. Books, internet and games are pushing "sick" people over the edge in some cases.

Fourth. Finland is, the fourth or fifth most armed country in the world !

Denmark is not figuring at the top 100 list We only know about weapons in the criminal environment.

If one have no gun, you can`t kill people (With a gun). If one can`t read nazi litterature, maby ones insaneness will not grow to much.

We live in a world, where kiddoes kills millions of people in cyberspace. When I watch counterstrike videoes (I have seen a few on Stage6) I notice that everybody wants maximum blood, splattering walls and grounds. Is this sane, that urge to watch blood splatter around you ?

You see, I don`t want videogames banned, but I crave that the parents watch what their children are doing, and eventually talks with them. It can`t be rigth that young people starts their lives, slaugthering people in cyberspace. You can`t make me believe, that that is sound for a young brain !?

Conclusion is. If we had no guns available, no hardcore videogames and no acces to sick litterature, then the world would be a safer place to live in - FOR SURE !!

I would like to see anybody arguing against that statement

EDIT :

http://today.reuters.com/news/ ... C_0_US-WORLD-FIREARMS.xml

On a per-capita basis, Yemen had the second most heavily armed citizenry behind the United States, with 61 guns per 100 people, followed by Finland with 56, Switzerland with 46, Iraq with 39 and Serbia with 38.

Condolences to the involved parties

Off course music, videogames and books influences in the personality you become. Such persons seeks more knowledge, and maby a book, or a videogame, or some blue music, pushed him over the edge ?

One common thing about the school killers, in the usa, was that they were not welcome in the "normal" world, amongst their scool mates.
They had low self esteem, and they lived in dreamworlds, fantasy worlds so to say.

I think that violent videogames can push such a person over the edge

I don`t think we should ban, games or music ! That`s for sure, but to say that they do not affect peoples minds !? That`s not rigth.
