The online racing simulator
Quote from danowat :Again, premium with dashboard, standard without.

If this is indeed the case, I think I may even reconsider getting GT5

Are you saying you'd snub what is going to be a truly awesome game simply because it doesn't have a certain visual feature? Not to mention no other GT game has actually had a cockpit view, and you'll reconsider getting GT5 because a new feature that PD has introduced won't be applicable to every car?

Isn't that being a bit rash?

Anyway, the way I interpret the 200 interiors as are fully detailed cockpit view. Every car will have some form of cockpit view; for the "standard" cars they'll be basic (eg no stitching on seats, non-essential gauges in dash inoperative etc) and recycled for similar models (read: the million Skylines sharing a common cockpit) with generic brake rotors etc in terms of the exterior, whereas for the premium cars they'll be fully and authentically detailed both inside and out.

To you, maybe, to me, not so.

I have been looking forward to GT5 for a dogs age, and would be sorely dissapointed if they were missing from 4/5th's of the cars.

A cockpit view, to me, is very important.
Let's not get irrational, i would also consider it, like Danowat, but that is just redicolous, 5 + years in the making, offcourse all cars will have cockpit, premium will just have more details.
I got the ps3 eye already so it will be awesome to play this i guess.
Some awesome screenshots

Seriously, i can't imagine how long it took them to create that Coloseum and stuff, they could've done numerous real tracks for the time it took them for that... We will end up probably without Monza, Spa etc.. and have these imaginary tracks.. it's a shame really..
I bet the wireframe for the Colluseum isn't that complicated, and is made to look 'real' by textures... But that's a guess!

Check out Madrid too.. i mean, i'm guessing they spent way too much time on these irelavant details on city tracks.. imaginary city tracks.. that time could've been spent on real tracks, instead we'll get Tsukuba, Ring, Top Gear track, Twin Ring Motegi and some ovals... it's a shame really not to have Spa and Monza in this engine..
There are loads of people working on the game, I doubt any of the modelers would find it hard to make that stuff anyway, and like tristancliffe said, its obviously mostly made up of 'Real life' looking textures
tbh I think those Rome screenshots remind me a lot of South City; the way the houses and trees (still just two crossing bitmaps) are made. There are not that many "holes" in the map, but quality seems on the same level (in my case with different installed high res texture packs)

lol, don't be silly, this is insanely more detailed then South City

EDIT: ok, on second look it's not ALL 3D, there's numerous 2D textures on building, i'll give you that.. but it still looks alot better.

They said some of those tracks took 2.5 years to make....

I'm betting Spa and Monza are there among others, because in Prologue you can see the weather at the locations of those tracks on the Home page, and one of the features of GT5 is being able to synchronize the game's time of day and (weather?) to the real location
I'm just hoping it plays as good as it looks..
It would be nice, at least those two tracks.. Not to mention i would love to have a go on Turkish F1 track, etc.. I'm betting they'll leave some of them for DLC's... unfortunately probably payable DLC..
visual confirmation of 16 cars on track, incase the 8 in the various demos might have led you to believe otherwise

I don't think all ingame though, might be 16 on track and 16 spectators
FFS, Kaz on interior view..

Official site shows difference between premium and standard, plus other details, lots of pics and some movies - 7 pages of it. Photo mode pics are amazing!

Tyre temps
Quote :By reviewing tire structures down from the simulation level, the surface temperature of tires have been simulated. Starting from figuring out the principle of why smoke is produced in the first place, we have succeeded in producing realistic tire smoke just like that of a real car..

Quote :Physical damage to the calculation
It is the physical damage and affect the deviation of the alignment simulation. The damage may affect the operation, which stopped running straight, and is not stable in the corner to express a variety of symptoms depending on the amount of damage. On all models.

Dent scratches dirty
The damage can be recognized visually, and scratches and dirt adhere to the body, then get depressed sometimes. On all models.

Deformation of the panel gap
Body depressed sometimes, misaligned body panels are formed, the damage to such distortion. Only affect the premium car.

Quote from brt900 :then wouldnt there be tyre smoke from the front tyre?

The diff could be set to 20/80 or something, therefore the front wheels spinning a bit, but not enough to smoke.

It shows HD versions of enhanced type GT4 cars driving around with slightly blackened windows, like the pics show on the website

I came to the same conclusion. What did they spend all these years with?
