Maybe its because some servers you join have lots of people, so you get lower fps. this makes your controller input less smooth.

Quote from BullHorn :Is there any way to lower the sensitivity of the mouse ingame?

I don't have a wheel for now, so I have to play with a mouse, but it's too sensitive.

Just lower your sensitivity in Windows mouse options. I have it set so it takes about 12" or 30cm from lock to lock. I can beat lots of people that use a wheel

you missed the apex of a few corners there. And you didn't get a good run across the start line when you started your lap, and you didn't even complete a valid lap.

I think you could easily do a 1:36 if you just pracitce more at being consistant. Slow down and you will go faster (if you know what i mean). You are trying to hard, relax. Don't make mistakes, they cost you a lot of time. missing an apex will likely cost you 1 second or more. also running onto the dirt costs about 1 second.

Did you watch the world record replay?

Here is a little guide of how I drive XFG on blackwood:

1) coming across the start line you should be doing 140km/h (87mph).

2)Turn 1: Brake at exactly 100m. I have had a lot of practice and can now brake at 80-90m, but you should aim for 100-110m. After you hit the apex at turn one its full throttle through the chicane. Don't life off (you are). It is very important to get a good exit out of the chicane, as this give you a good run down the back straight.

3)The turn after the back straight. Brake at about 120-125m. Don't turn in too late and miss the apex. Cut the apex and use full power after the apex.

4) the right and left turn: you did these very well.

5) The right turn (2nd to last corner): brake at 60m

6) final turn: don't brake here, just lift off the throttle for a bit.

Zip files don't even compress jpeg files, because jpeg is already compressed! I just did a test and got 2% compression out of a jpeg file - not worth it!

What ever the heck this anti lag thing is, the XRR needs it. GOD the turbo lag is bad on that car.

I'm not trying to troll or anything, but using a mouse is 1000x better.

Set the "Steer centre reduction" thingy to 0, then set your windows sensitivity very low. I have mine set so it take me about 12" of mouse movement from lock to lock. Also turn off mouse acceleration in windows.

Quote from richy :I cant use Super - transparancy AA. I get lots of graphic artifacts.

The Geforce 6 series doesn't support transparency AA, and doesn't support super sampling AA. Only the 7 series and up.

I'm 99% sure you can (I don't have a graphics card that supports Super Sampling AA, so i can't check). You can save and restore your config profile easily too.

Couldn't you just write some InSim software that remembers what side the driver should be on for that league race, and spectate them until they change it to the correct side? I know it wouldn't be easy, but it's a solution.

Well the default one does everything you need to make LFS look better, you just have to click on advanced settings.

The problem I have with converting time zones is that I don't know who is in DST and who isn't. That world clock converter that someone linked helps though.

Maybe it would be easier to have a "count down till race start timer" or similar?

I'm not sure, but could you assign the button on your wheel to a keystroke? (F12 etc)

I would definatly NOT limit the physics engine.

TBH I think the demo does offer too much, and thats why i played it for so long. I got my PB on BL1 XRT down to 1:24.9 before I bought S2. S2 was well worth it though. I was amazed witht the first race that i joined. Everyone made it around the first corner! That just doesn't happen in the demo EVER. It was also funny because I had so much practice in the XFG I started winning simple combos that were easy to learn very quickly (like FE1 XFG).

The other day I wen't on a demo server for some BL1 XFG action but got wrecked within the first lap both times I started. I tried to dodge everyone, but some guy went full throttle into the second right hander, after the big straight, after i passed him around the outside. I rage quited and went back to S2

Sure you can get good races on the demo but its a lot harder than a pickup race in S2.

I think that the demo should only offer the XFG, and XRT, and Blackwood GP forward (not reverse - reverse is popular for drifters). the number of laps should be limited, so that would make drifting servers harder to run. The mode should be limited to race, no practice or qual sessions.

TBH I don't see the point in using nHancer. Why not just use the inbuilt control panel?

Quote from The Very End :What exactly does bump mapping anyway? Just put on some AA and AF and LFS looks good enough for 10 years to come. We need new stuff, graphics are not important since they are allready good enough.

Here is a simple explination. http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Bump_mapping and another http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bump_mapping. Basically it would make the road textures, tyre textrues, car skins and everything look awesome.

I too would rather have better physics over better graphics, but I think that improved graphics is important for the long run.

edit: oh, and if you wan't to know what LFS graphics will look like in 10 years time compared to what will be out then, just look at Quake graphics

Quote from DarkTimes :As Jakg says, you don't need a good computer to take screenshots. As the shots are static no one can tell if you have a crappy framerate, so just pump all your graphics settings up to the top.

Unless he has integrated graphics that doesn't support AA and AF

Personally I'm really enjoying LFS at the moment. I have just started to enjoy the AS3 GTR combo (before I hated it), and I can lap about 1:43.1 (so close to 1:42.X !).

I think a graphics update would be really nice. I know that its probably going to be a very long time until we get a graphics update, but LFS is really starting to show its age. DirectX 9 effects like bump mapping would be really really nice to see.

Also now that Logitech has released the G25, a lot more people have a clutch pedal. Proper clutch simulation would possibly attract more people.

But I think the most important update we need is collision detection and net code.

Unfortunatly there are heaps of ways to exploit the online PBs. For example in AS2 you can drive into the pit barrier and you get a massive boost across the start line cutting about 2 seconds off your lap.
