IMO the way the cars move about in LFS is amazingly realistic.
My jaw was like this when I first saw the STCC intro video. Especially the way the cars went down the corkscew in AS1, it looked really good.

But I thik GT5 look WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more realistic. These shots haven't been post processed in photoshop or anything. Becky Rose: What makes you believe that they have? Graphics in games get better and better all the time, with effects like HDR etc. Just because GT5 will have better graphics than LFS doesn't make LFS less of a game. To me LFS is by far the best racing game there is. Gameplay > Graphics.

woah. Calm down buddy. I can see you are oval racing, thats not going to help you around corners!

Your brake force is WAYYYYY too high. I test drove you car and it handled like a shopping trolly. get a decent setup http://setupfield.teaminferno.hu/ and just practice practice practice. You will get good after about 100 hours of practice (hopefully)

In the TBO class I drive the XRT on tarmac. Good acceleration out of the corner, and its easy on the tyres - unlike the RB4 or FXO. I drive the RB4 on dirt because its wayyyy faster (AWD).

in the GTR class I drive the FXR. I can push it very hard, pulling fast lap times. Its almost impossible to crash aswell. Not so good on the tyres though.

in XFG/XRG races 80% of the time I drive the XFG. It has much better braking than the XRG, but the XRG can just pull away from the XFG on long straights, so on fast tracks I drive the XRG.

I prefer to drive the tin tops rather than the open wheelers. TBO is my favourite class. my top 3 cars are XRT XFG and FXR.

Quote from LFSn00b :I get taken out on EVERY race i try to drive on CTRA. Due to this i seem to have 53% yellow flags. This is annoying :|

Learn to avoid the slower people. When you pass leave a lot of room. And dont drive close to people that are obviously slower than you. When I come up behind someone on a long straight I always pull out to the side, so if they brake early I will avoid them.

Well there isn't exactly much to do on the CTRA-X site anyway. Why should I have to view it every day or similar O_o

Also on another note I get this error at the bottom of the MY CTRA page
Server.MapPath() error 'ASP 0175 : 80004005'

Disallowed Path Characters

/myctra/default.asp, line 518

The '..' characters are not allowed in the Path parameter for the MapPath method.

So does it add to my yellow flag % if there is a pile up at T1, but I avoid it all? Or does it only count the people that are actually involved in the crash?
And also, sometimes I get a yellow flag at the end of a race.

What do you guys think so far?

Yeah, its funny when you see 2 cars try to go side by side on lap on, and one ends up flying 30meters into the air.

one quick question: Does it always load the same layout (of objects) or does it load a random layout each track change?

Just now I was racing on FE2 on the race1 server, and it had a mental chicane layout that made lap times much slower.

Other than that, keep up the good work. nice system

Quote from Cr!t!calDrift :Trust me, there are plenty of others who cant crack 1:45 (demo racers)

And I know that 1:28 is poor, but that doesn't mean that Keyboard is horrible.

Plus, can you link me to some WR replays?

goto http://www.lfsworld.net/ then click on "S2 Hotlaps" then click on "WR's" then click on the time and it will download the replay

1) try using the mouse - I just cracked 1:24.46 yesterday and I use the mouse
2) watch world record replays, and analyse how they drive
3) practice in singleplayer - multiplayer replays are horrible
4) either use the RACE_S setup or download one from here http://setupfield.teaminferno.hu/ don't go dicking around with the setup unless you really know what you are doing, or else you will just make yourself slower.

@Cr!t!calDrift sorry to admit it but 1:28 is poor. After watching world record replays I quickly got 1:27s and then with not much more practive I cracked 1:26s, to get 1:25 took a lot more practice. You should be at least able to do consistant 1:26s.

Quote from m4vrick :Hi, Im not sure if this is a bug or not, but i was on one of the W41 test servers, i think track was Int Long. Anyway, I was driving around in f08 then host changed to allow only fox's. I was able to start and race in my f08 even get 3rd place. SHame i know, but the point is, i was able to finish in a car thats not allowed on track. Only fox's were allowed. After the race i joined Spectator mode and had no choice but to switch cars to join the race again. If i didn't switch to spectator mode, i would have still been driving the f08. Maybe if you don't switch before start of race, you should be kicked to pits and locked in to change your car to available ones.

thanks

This has happened to me even in standard patch W.

Quote from alxf1 :when joining into the race, the car was just thrown into the wall just because it was joining in the garage of another player.

I have had this happen even in the demo with patch W, in the blackwood carpark. The chance of it happening is just much higher when more players are in the server.

I took some pictures while spectating on the CTRA copper and bronze server last night. 56K warning.

Here is what it normally looks like in single player:

Here is what has been added on the CTRA servers:

Here was a crash caused by the tyres placed on the racing line at the exit of the complex:

From a different angle:

Another crash caused by the tyres placed in the middle of the racing line:

I did some quick testing in single player. Here are some pictures of what I found the fastest way I could take the corner to be:

First apex:

Second apex:

Where I ended up on the exit. That piece of road there just has to be used, or one must brake after they exit the chicane.

A dual link DVI cable wont do any good unless you have a Dual Link DVI card (which you don't) see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface
Quote :With a single DVI link, the largest resolution possible at 60Hz is 2.75 megapixels (including blanking interval). For practical purposes, this allows a maximum widescreen resolution of 2212 x 1243 (widescreen 1.77 ratio).

So you can't use more than 60 Hz when using a resolution of 1920x1200 over DVI. The DVI spec doesn't even support more than 60 Hz so trying to force more than 60Hz can cause problems - your monitor might not even support that resolution (I know my 19" doesnt support 1280x1024 at 75Hz, but it does support 800x600 at 75Hz)

Try using your DVI cable and running 1920x1200 at 60Hz.

I honnestly can't tell the difference between 60 and 75 Hz on an LCD. Because of the way LCDs work they dont flicker.
