Quote from mutt107 :BF1 is for N00B's! haha its too easy to drive lol.

I'd like to see you get within 1 second of the WR on any combo.. then tell me that BF1 is easy to drive

I find FXR the easiest GTR to drive, and I am fastest with it on most combos. Some tracks I am faster with FZR because it has more top speed.

XRR seems very twitchy to me. I just don't gel very well with XRR. I can do 1 or 2 fast laps with it, but I can't be consistant. My driving style just doesn't suit it I guess. It seems pretty stable in the low speed corners, but in the fast corners I often get oversteer. Some times I munch the front tyres too. The turbo lag doesn't help either.

Naturally the FZR and XRR are much easier on the tyres, where in the FXR its a constant struggle to keep front tyre temps under control.

XRR: very loose rear, and the turbo lag makes it even harder again.

People that say a bike could be simulated in LFS and driven like a bike in real life, obviosuly have never raced a bike in real life, and don't have a clue how a bike is controlled on the limit.

Eg. to stop the back wheel of a bike sliding, you don't do anything with the steering. You apply weight to the foot pedals. To stop the back wheel from locking up under braking, you lean backwards. To stop the front tucking in, around a corner, you lean forwards. Pretty much all these rider inputs cannot be simulated with simple controls like a car can. Its just not possible.

Sticking to the back wheel sliding example: When in a car, to stop the back wheels sliding you only have 3 inputs that you can make to the car: Steering, throttle, and brake. Those are the ONLY things you can do. When riding a bike you can move your body around to an infinite number of positions and apply different amounts of weight on the foot rests and handle bars. You can change the wieght distribution of the bike with your body (Front:Back and Left:Right). There is no easy way to simulate these at home, because if you lean to the right when sitting still at home, there is no restoring force generated from turning so you will fall over (off your chair).

In that video they are using a tweak to give the car much more power. The suspension can still bend when driving the BF1 driving over 600km/h on the oval (patch Y), but rather than gradually deforming it tends to suddenly bend a lot.

Quote from Widdowmaker :174.16 drviers dont allow af and AA for me - yet 169.32 does.... go figure....

More details please. Where did you force AA and AF from. Global profiles or specific profiles? This is most likely user error.

Quote from jbirdaspec :I tested mine after I posted and I could adjust the AA from the nvidia panel with my 8800 on the current 169 drivers. I am talking about XP BTW.

You guys just don't understand do you. What 169 driver was it. AS I SAID: drivers AFTER 169.21 are broken. Therefore 169.01/169.02/169.04/169.09 ALL WORK FINE.

and cfus: There is no problem with the 8800GT or any nvidia cards. All you have to do is install the latest beta drivers. Download them from http://downloads.guru3d.com/

It effects all cards.

All drivers from 169.21 - 169.xx have broken AA settings.

Upgrade to 171.xx or 174.xx

Nvidia don't put all their driver releases on their official site

Lots of drivers are avaliable here http://downloads.guru3d.com/

I'm using 174.20 and the AA bug is fixed.

Thank-you this works very well. AF now works (was broken for me in Y13). In game AA option is brilliant!

Quote from STROBE :if I choose "use the advanced 3D image settings" and create/modify profiles for games, it gets completely ignored.

Forcing AA from the control panel is broken in all drivers after 169.13 and before 171.xx. This is common knowledge on guru3d forums.
That's why I'm using 174.20

It's definitly not a problem with the nvidia control panel.

The AF setting in LFS just doesn't work even when the nvidia control panel is set to application controlled, for both global and specific LFS game profiles
Forcing AF from the nvidia control panel works fine.

In the first picture attached 16x AF is selected in LFS, but it just doesn't have any effect (all mip bias are set to 0 in LFS). As you can see the AF is definitly set to application controlled in the Nvidia control panel. I don't have problems with the control panel in any other game.

The second picture shows 16x AF forced from the Nvidia control panel, how it should look.

It seems AF isn't working on any nvidia cards. In game AF setting isn't working here:

Card: Nvidia 6600GT
Drivers: 174.20

I get the same bug as nesrulz too. With the in-game AF setting on anywhere between 2x and 16x, and with all the mip biases set to 0: press Shift+F4 and then all mip bias settings become negative. Select AF of 0x or 1x and it fixes itself.

It isn't going to be possible to get good H-pattern gearbox simulation until we get force feedback H-pattern shifters.

Force feedback clutch and break pedals would be nice too.

Having to lift off is perfectly normal. Have you ever used a manual sequental gearbox in real life?
Aston Club hotlaps: is this cheating?

Yesterday I did a 1 hour race in the FXO on Aston Club. Today I watched the world record replay and noticed the driver drove up an access road to get a faster start onto the main straight.

Would you call this a cheat? I think it shouldn't be allowed. It seems that he gets about an extra 10km/h from it.

I'm not much of an expert but maybe the proxy is inspecting the packets and rejecting the LFS ones because they aren't a web page. (does this make sense?)

try using port 443. I heard that if you use the HTTPS port (443) the firewall won't inspect the traffic.

So would LFS use port 443 if you went

'port 443 1' ?

or does it only use 80
