Well, I'm sure. "Qué" is written with a tilde when it's a pronoun (a "pronombre interrogativo" in this case), and that applies to both direct and indirect questions:
Direct question (pronoun): "¿Qué accesos directos desea?"
Indirect question (pronoun): "Seleccione qué accesos directos desea:"
Not a question (conjunction): "Seleccione los accesos directos que desee:"

All the license agreement text inside the white frame is in informal speech and it should use formal speech as the rest of the instaler. This is the most important part. Also, it should use starting punctuation characters.

I'll say that overall the translation is good, but some things make a product look more serious. It's important to use formal speech for this kind of translation, and even more important to not mix formal with informal. The rest of the fixes proposed are minor things. There are some sentences in the license agreement text that could be changed to sound better in formal speech, but I didn't want to go that far. I hope the translator is not offended by these suggestions.

So... is the new installer going to replace completely the old self extracting file or are you going to keep both formats? There are many people who are happy and used to the non-installer format, and we prefer it that way. I really feel more comfortable with the non installable version, but anyway I understand that the average Windows user will go 100% of the times for the installer.

Please consider the possibility of keeping the self extracting version (or just a normal zip file) as a secondary download option for us who like to manage our folders "manually"
Strange UDP problem with one specific server

Hi there, I'm trying to help a league-mate solve one strange problem he is having with one specific server.

We have four servers, all hosted in the same machine (I checked it using TCPView), that we use in this league. Three of them are team servers and the other one is owned by the league. Well, he claims that since about a week he's constantly having problems with one of the team servers - ironically, his own team server.

He reports that he sees all cars in that server with over 50 seconds lag, then suddenly he see them move for a very brief moment and then they lag again. At the same time, people seem to not see him in track, "only when he's stopped".

He doesn't lose connection to the host, so that would mean that he's still having a fluent enough TCP connection to keep him alive, but what he describes looks like he's not sending (people can't see him) and neither receiving (he can't see others) UDP packets.

I repeat that he only has this problem with this host www.nls.es | XspaTM, but not with the other three servers hosted in the same machine (www.nls.es LFS-CESAV.net #Q, www.nls.es | DMS, www.nls.es |<<LFR>>).

This doesn't make any sense, does it?

Right now he's using control+T to play in UDP mode, but I told him that's not the right solution. In fact, that's only a turnaround fix, but the problem is still there.

Thanks for all your replys guys. In the end a teammate did a couple adjustments and he nailed it, but anyway the race was a total disaster for me as they took me out in the second corner... I'm going to open a new thread about dampers and I hope I get as good feedback as in this thread.

In the beginning I was trying to adjust just a couple of corners by changing transient response, but in the end I didn't get the results I wanted, so that's why I decided to go for a global balance change.

Interesting. Yes, I'm using a locked diff, but I thought that making the rear ARB stiffer would give me more oversteer, not the front one. I'll take that into consideration.

understeer/oversteer balance after R2 to R3 change

I could use some help on this:

I have a very nice UFR set with R2 in all wheels. Now I need to change it to a race setup keeping as much of the original feeling as possible.

I have changed the front tyres from R2 to R3 losing grip in the front and this causes understeer changing the whole balance of the car.

I'd like to change the global understeer/oversteer balance so I can get a set that has a similar handling as the original all-R2 one.

Basically I want to move a little grip from the rear to the front making the least -easiest- possible changes. I've tried raising pressure in the rear tyres so they slide a little more, and also tried specific damper changes for better corner entry/exiting, but I didn't get any good results. I just want a set that handles as the original one but has less overall grip.

Any help?

This is just an idea so please don't flame.

Reading again about castellano and latino I thought that maybe a new *unsupported* language called "custom" could be created so that people can edit it manually without having to change any of the official languages.

Language files are txt and can be edited in any way under your own risk, but if you edit them you are messing with the official languages available - which is of course not recommended.

My idea is to have one special language called "custom" so that you can copy, for example, the Latino.txt language file with the name Custom.txt and then you can edit it manually to adapt it to your own dialect, without having to mess with the original Latino.txt file. Then you can choose "Custom" as your language inside LFS and you still have all the original languages intact.

This could be useful for some LFS communities that could slightly edit the original Latino language file to their own flavour and redistribute a Custom file for their users that wouldn't delete the original one.

I repeat this is just an idea, and maybe it's against the intention of having official translators and official language packs.

Yeah well... I'm from Spain and I had never ever heard about that "Spanish (modern)" variation. It definitely sounds like a variation from Spain's Spanish but I can't tell for sure. I think it would be right to have it like Leandrus said.

That's not what I meant. What I was trying to say is to make an insim that adds a column to the current connections list scheme, in the same way as there are two columns with "kick" and "ban" buttons. My idea is to add a column with "spec" buttons that works in synchrony with the connections list.

This is actually a feature that Scawen could code very easily. The only drawback could be that if you are a host admin the connections list menu could grow quite big with three columns for "spec", "kick" and "ban".

That would be easy. I don't have the time to do it right now so sorry on that. An idea might be to get an extra 'n' menu function so you assign this insim to the 'n' key, an it shows up cyclically when you have the connections list. The insim adds a column to the left of the connections list with an 'S' button for each player name, that when pressed sends this player to spectators. I guess you would only need to find out in what order connections are shown in the list, which I guess is in ascending order of UCID (maybe not).

This way you would have an enhanced connections list menu that works identically and rotates with the 'n' key ;-)

He's trully a fast guy. I remember one time our team was practicing for some league race in which he participated some times. He went online to the server we were practicing and asked us for a setup to try the combo. It was Aston with some GTR car I don't remember. We gave him our HL setup and in three laps he was doing the same time as Zanini, who had the WR there. When you have been practicing for hours and have reached your limit at a combo, and a guy beats your time by 1 second in three laps it really blows your mind.

Maybe when I get home I'll try no FFB just to try the feeling. It must be really weird, and hard to feel your car through the corners to countersteer.

Cool video. I guess it's too hard to make a full review about LFS in 15 minutes, but the time was well used indeed, considering that the 301 took some of it. I'd really like to see a full LFS review talking about... everything! From demo to S2, leagues, teams, lfsworld stats, hotlapping, setups... there's so much to LFS!

Why isn't there something like "The LFS hotlappers thread"? Taking aside the disputes about morality in hotlapping, these battles for the WRs are indeed intense and entertaining in their own way. It's weird that there isn't a place where people write about their awesome WRs just to have them taken right away by some alien

BTW, arrechee is posting some sick laps lately, I haven't checked them but I think he's not using so much handbrake in these new ones.

It's not possible with outsim or outgauge, and via insim it's only possible if you can setup an insim for a certain server in which you'll be running and you run the insim from your machine, because an insim application can't play sounds -or execute any command external to LFS- in any other computer that the one that's running it. I can't think of other ways to do that.

I think you didn't get what I was trying to explain. What I want is to start the race.

Let's put an example: I have a server with a bunch of people in it. The insim is waiting for a time when the race/qualy has to start. When that time comes the insim can send an admin command "/restart" that would make the session restart without voting. But there is a chance that the server is in the lobby screen and in that case if you send that "/restart" command you won't get the desired result because it doesn't have effect in that screen. Everybody must click on OK so the server goes to the track and then you can use "/restart".

What I want is a way to make sure that the race starts at the exact time that I want even if at the time the server is in the lobby screen. Maybe it's just not possible

Hi, this is not a request but a question to those of you who have experience with insim.

I'd like my insim to force race or qualifying restarts in whatever situation the server is in. From my experience, if the server is in the grid screen (where you select the track and players have to click "ready" or "ok" or "go, I don't know the English word used) you can't force a restart until everyone clicks OK and the server goes into "track mode".

I just wanted to ask if any of you know of a way to force a race/qualifying restart in any situation, given that the server is not empty.

I'm using my own C insim library and I have a certain knowledge about insim, but I've always found myself stuck when trying to do this, so I thought I'd better ask if anyone knows a solution.

I like this track, but I think it's a difficult one to have different classes racing at the same time. Most corners have just one possible line, so overtaking slower cars can mean lossing a lot of time depending on where you come to them, like the corkscrew chicane, the second and third sectors...

The situation now:


This is how it's been all along. We have Spanish from Spain, which the rest of the countries understand, but is indeed different from all their dialects. In Spain we are happy with this as our version has been polished and fits our language, but we understand other countries would like a translation that fits them better.


If we add an "Español Latino" version:


You can create a version that would be closer to all of their dialects, but in the end it would be either just fitted to one specific country, or maybe even it wouldn't fit perfectly any country, and would be "in between" all of them. Is this OK with all the people from all the countries or will they want the latin translation closer to their own? I mean, would they say "now that we have a latin version, make it OUR version"? In any case, I think this is the best option, but having multiple translators from multiple countries would end up in a confusing translation and a harder than usual work to make it decent.


The last option is:


To have just one choice in between Spain and the rest of the countries. We wouldn't be happy at all losing the translation that we already have, and I think it wouldn't please any other country neither. I think this option doesn't make sense.

Again the opinion from a Spaniard... This whole "Latin Spanish" thing is unnecessary. For me it's ok, of course I have no problem at all, but even when there is a certain similarity between the Spanish of the countries in Latin-America they're still different, and it doesn't make sense to have one Spanish language file for each country. I think they understand our Spanish as we understand theirs.

So, to not have each line in the language file using a different dialect, maybe there should be only one translator that would do it in his own country's dialect and leave his flag as someone suggested. That way there would be two "Spanish'es", the one from Spain, and another one from a Latin-American country. Then people from other countries can choose between those two, as one of them will be closer to their own dialect (most likely the latin one).

Here you should ponder which Latin-American country should be chosen! I would say Mexico but I think they have quite some influence from US English, that other countries don't have. I think Venezuela or Ecuador are more "neutral" but maybe I'm wrong.

You could read and understand the post instead of talking shit. I know that there's tons of tutorials out there. You know what? A lot of them are not fit for what we're up to, and also there's a lot that are just bad tutorials.

Why do you say I am complaining? There's a difference in reading every single tutorial you come across until you find one that fills your needs to someone saying you "read THIS ONE, it helped me a lot". I'm not asking anyone to explain me how to do anything, I'm just saying that we can go a step further from "use premiere and google for tutorials" without having to go to the extreme of "install this application, then click here, then double-click there... and I made your movie!". There's a intermediate point, to help someone learn in an easy way, with a little guidance, but not having to explain everything in a detailed way.

Is it so hard to say "I use Vegas. I like it because of <insert reason here>. You first should learn how to do <insert basic skill here> and then you can start with <insert advanced skill here>. You can find good tutorials for different levels here: <insert link>"?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a good first post explaining things and providing links to tutorials? Right now it's "capture video with fraps and then use movie maker or premiere"... and that's all.

I know video edition is not an easy thing and you can't learn it in five minutes, but there's a lot more than premiere and movie maker... Many people use Vegas, and many people use different software to add effects prior to the global composition.

It would be great if the people who can make nive videos and have some knowledge of the software they usually use could post brief summaries describing the pros and cons of the software you use, and links to guides and tutorials of different skill levels. There's no need to explain everything, but just provide the basic stuff so we can learn by ourselves.

I think there are a lot of people like me that would love to make (great) movies but after a short while we get discouraged because video editing software and techniques are hard to learn with no reference whatsoever...

You should use shift+F twice to have everything taken out, including chat lines.

The video was cool like the one with the XFG, but in this one the F1 totally screwed the last sector, he could have won by +1 second easily if he had done a decent last sector.
