Thanks for the reply. BTW tripple screen is totally freaking amazing if in doubt, but looks a bit crap in games that don't properly support bezel management and viewing angles.

Quote from dadge :yeah, but i already have the GTX470. i was just wondering.

So is it capable of 3x screens by itself? I imagined you needed two cards in SLi, but I'm not sure.

Strange. I find that track boring as hell. I prefer the likes of Infineon, Road Atlanta, Laguna, you know, some elevation changes, blind crests etc.

Something that amazes me. In LFS I'm usually racing UK/US servers at 300mS ping 'cause I'm in the southern hemishpere. The lag in LFS is pretty noticable at that level. Playable, but you can't race close or risk killing someone. Cars are warping about, even when going in a straight line, generally pretty awful to play. I accepted this because I was playing people 1/2 a world away and thought this is as good as it gets, just stay safe and race with lots of room.
Sure it's fine if I use an Aussie server, but that's pretty rare to find, pretty much restricted to playing with what's available in LFS, (US/UK/Europe)

Now I have had iRacing for 2 months, (bought all road content now) I can race on US servers still with the same 300mS ping and not notice any warping or any problems racing close. AND I MEAN DAMN CLOSE. I can race up on someones bumper right into corners, side by side everywhere, it's just freaking me out how it's even possible to race this close with 1/3sec difference, the gap between the cars is like inches. I do realise there are AUS servers, but usually they are not in use, this is always on iRacing US servers - it's blowing my mind.

Occasionally I notice someone blink but you can tell it's their end and not any fault of iRacing. Never believed it was possible to race so close with 300mS ping. I swear it's like using 50mS on LFS.

So add better net code to that list?

Jetta/MX5 (Grand Touring Cup) is great fun. A lot of carnage though so don't expect to gain SR. Jetta is over all slightly faster on the current track (Summit Point). If you don't get a really good jump on the MX5 it'll be in your ass into the turns. Shame it's only every second day, but it's opposite days to C6R fixed days so I can run both.

I remember when I walked away from the forum after my last post here I was thinking. "oh god, he's gonna join and see virtually no races happening and then the season swap will take place and he'll have no luck playing for an hour or so." Sorry should have warned you that today was probably the worse time to join up. Not the best introduction.

The whole "forced to be online" yada yada made me feel forced into a corner and I resented that. After a week you'll get over that haha. Right now that there's many series running now that week one is off to a start. The web interface is overwhelming at first. Just give it a few days.

Clutch pedal is engaged = Right Foot Braking

This is how I learned to drive a real car. Never used LFB in a road car. This transferred to sim racing. Then I had to 'learn' how to use the LFB after RFB for over 20 years.

I imagined many people naturally use RFB at first.

Quote from anttt69 :Cheapest way to try is the $5 for a month. Remember to save your real name for your real account. Most good offers are only for new members.

I don't understand why the need to do that? I just signed up with a deal and stayed with the same account. Do you use aliases to get more trial deals? Not sure why you would want to do that 'cause you only get the standard content again when you register a new name. What's the benefit? Did I miss something obvious here?

Well TBH, the graphics are easily better than LFS. The dynamic lighting and shaders really make it pop and this is what gives it more depth. Of course it's not exactly NFS/DiRT2.

Track poly's may only have slightly a bit more detail than LFS, but because it's laser scanned the tracks look and feel much better.
I'm no physics guru, but the cars feel really nice to drive and feel natural.

edit: Actually in iRacing I have learned how to properly trail brake, heel'n'toe, left foot brake.

There might be another $5, 1 month trial someday, but that could be - well no one knows. For free, I doubt it. But if you couldn't spend just a tiny amount to test ($12 is tiny, when my PC costs $1100) it then it would be unlikely you would spend the other dollars required to buy other content no matter how good it is. Races with the standard content are very popular so there should be no problem finding races to get your value for 1 month.

That's the reason I tried it to, same as you. The cars seemed to move around realistically in youtube vids and it looked nice. I didn't try it for many months because I wanted to try it for free as well. You could do what I did and watch hundreds of vids about it um'ing and ar'ing.

Quote from bbman :You make it sound like it's adultery to enjoy both...

I'll be trying to (finally) dive into the deep end with the FG01 after what basically was a season getting up to speed (more like getting/finding any at all)... Coincidentally, the new tweak made it behave a bit better now, so it'll be interesting to see how that pans out (also for me personally)...

C Class FG01 V8SC:
I only ever find 2 official races per week. The Aussies cram in two sessions the night before the end of week change over on open iRacing servers. Usually get full 2 splits the first race and and the second race 2 hours later is a single full split.
Mon 19:45 and Mon 21:45 AEDT
Mon 08:45 and Mon 10:45 GMT/UTC

I think there's a Europe version on Sat Night's , but not seen that populated more than 4 people. But if you're going for Pro Road, I dunno.

Ah, I thought that option was only for button/key customizations. Didn't realize it applied to FFB. Thanks.

Quote from Swiss-Spirit :[snip]

FFB advice is nice, but I don't really know to what I should set. Maybe the problems lies there, that I always have to re-plug my G25 when joining sessions in rF, LFS and iR...

I find the FFB settings vary from car to car, annoying cause there is no separate car customization.
@107% profiler and in game:
Road cars (SS,Leg,mx5,sols,jett,stang) : 18
Single seaters (SM) : 10
Single seaters (SRF,FW31) : 15
FordV8 (FG01) : 5
Oval cars : not owned

I don't know for sure (not driven any of these cars), but these feel kinda right* to me. Some suggestions would be appreciated. 103% feels better I think.

*which is still difficult to judge because the G25 wheel is almost half the size of a real wheel so leverage is completely different

BTW: Thanks StableX

Forgive my ignorance here. But can someone explain why profiler:107% and game:10 is more realistic than say profiler:100% and game:20 ? Does clipping start happening after you go over 10 or something? What's the reason?

I've been using profiler:100% and game:20 because the iRacing devs suggested to use that in some of the game setup tips documents.

My signature links at the bottom of my posts shows my cockpit, but now I have tripple screens so it's not quite up to date. The frame is the same.

A $10 seat from a car wreckers and some pine and a coat of paint, you could make something good enough. It's worth the effort 'cause I can sim race all day and not get uncomfortable, tired or pain.

Nah that's to buy the content. Cars are $12.00 and tracks $15.00 each. Once you buy content you only pay for it once and it's always there. You don't have to buy all the content either. Some cars you might not be interested in. Basic content is free and includes 6 cars and 8 tracks that have various configurations. If you decide to take part in higher series after the basic content you will have to buy a few tacks. One per week as it rotates the schedule. Eventually you own most of the tracks and you can take part in a lot more series. It's up to you really. I've spent $80 + sub and I am buzzing off my tits. The laser scanner tracks are truely awesome, you feel every bump like you're really driving a car flat out.

If you eventually own all the content that $500 figure, then more tracks are released as time goes on. But there's a huge choice already. Last content release Dec2010 was the Street Stock Car (Free) and Spa. Every few months new stuff comes out I think. There's enough for all tastes as it is, no dirt though if that's what you want.

You pay the month subscription extra. approx $100 per year.
It only costs $12.00 to test it out for 3 months to see if it's up to your standards and you get free cars and tracks with that.

I'm the tightest prick with money I know and I'm happily buying into this It's like when Homer eats the free cookies at the mall and moans about how they 'jack-up the price after your addicted' haha

Quote from Sir moi 407 :Couldn't resist... bought the 3 months deal ^^
I calculated how much money I would to spend to have the whole game: 550$
That's what I call an expensive game :P

You can get bulk savings 10% 20% and 25% off deals. For example only $412.50 if you buy all content at once.

I'm not sure I understood you correctly.
- Did you buy a G25 second-hand from someone else and it's broken and badly worn?

Anyway - well done fixing that. Shows you got some good engineering skills. I find the POTs in the G25 too cheap and need a clean every 12 months or so. However I remember a few years ago the only option for an H-Shifter was nearly $2000 and out of reach.

No sorry, they are 1440x900 19" native and won't go higher. It's not much, but they were free monitors so was worth the effort. Also my GTX295 can't do 5760x1080 as it's limit is 2560x1600 in total pixels. (Which is just above my 4320x900)

To go above that I need 3 new monitors and new MB/CPU/RAM/GPU so won't be doing that for a while.

Just wanted to show you though how much the frame rate drops when you tripple it - 20% in my case. Your CPU should be able to handle this resolution. Looks like you've hit the GPU limits. If your only on 70fps on a single screen then tripple is gonna take you well below 60fps, especially at 1080. Try reduce your resolution to 1280x720 (3840x720) at 4xAA you might get a happy medium until you figure something out.

Before you go buy a gtx570 just check you don't actually need 2 of them in SLi to use 3 screens. I think you do.
