Hi, I'm Thomas! Nice to meet you.

And since I'm posting I might as well thank Tristan for doing this. And also whoever posted in the previous thread offering me a ride from Stansted. I Think it was nihil but I can't seem to find the post. Thanks whoever it was, but once again I was able to get Ben to do the driving.

Right-o! Flight and lift all arranged. I will see you all on the 25th!

And by the way, I *really* hope that some of you stick around for a while afterwards for something to eat (and perhaps for something to drink, yes?).

Interesting. Please keep posting your experiences!

I've been considering a few Certs but obviously it'll all have to wait until I'm not studying full-time elsewhere.

I do agree with Becky that practical knowledge probably weighs more than pieces of paper, but they'll most certainly bump you up on the list when an employer are considering who to call to an interview.

Here's a few certificates someone with a job recommended me:

Of course you are allowed to tell someone off, especially if you can be bothered to help the person in question by pointing him in the right direction. But there's a difference between being told off and being verbally abused by several members of a public forum. Repeatedly.

I reacted because abusive, non-constructive comments kept on coming even though the flaws of the first post of this thread were pointed out early on.

Quote from RobbyMac :Dumb question;

I noticed on other servers that false starts result in a penalty, but the driver stays in the race.
However on my server (Z3, s2, Dedicated) whenever a driver false starts, they get a penalty message but then get spectated instantly.

I believe you are mistaken. The effects that you speak of are not server options.

On all servers, you will first receive a penalty when doing a false start. If you immediately stop your car you will not be removed from the grid. It is when you keep on moving you will be removed. I suppose it is a measure to prevent disruptive players from crashing in to other cars before green (which obviously would have given the innocent driver a false-start penalty as well).

Perhaps you were so eager to see what happened on your server that you did not try to move just a little bit?

That's enough, everyone. I'm sure we've all got the point by now.

Clearly the OP means no harm so I can't see the point in continuously having a go at him, unless you're actually trying to win the LFS Forum Most Intimidating Forum Personality award. How about aiming for winning this award instead? :doh:

Previous test-patches aren't available per se. If you look in the test patch forum you'll notice that old threads are moved out of the main test patch forum.

As opposed to official releases, test patches are not announced in-game. Therefore I suspect that the reason the OP was using an older test patch simply was that he hadn't manually updated to the latest one yet.

True! But the point was that such errors can be considered to be "expected" in this series of test-patches.

Glad to see that you were able to resolve the problem. In case you're interested, an explanation from the man himself can be found here.

This is getting old. And by that I'm not referring to people being banned from Redline Racing, but the community members commenting on it the way the do.

aptitutex, if you'd like to discuss what happened please register at Redline Racing's forum which can be found here:

Rockclan, if you are going to bump this thread every single time someone voices their interest in attending you might as well have this thread stickied!

Good luck with the event!

I'm interested in coming! However just as for everyone else it very much depends on which date is decided. Still, traveling from Gothenburg to Eastleigh seems to be a heck of a lot easier/cheaper than traveling to Newcastle (Cheers, Ben!), so I'll defintely be there if the date works out for me. Some time in January seems reasonable. Preferably a weekend.

(PS, if someone traveling from/past London has room in his car please step forward!)

That's probably true. But since neither orange_boy himself or the perpetrator is currently online (which you can find out by trying to /find his username online or simply by looking below his username on this very forum) that won't be a problem.

However, IF the username would remain online forever orange_boy could just e-mail the LFS developers and explain what has happened. I'm absolutely certain Victor would disconnect the user right away.
Fix:

* Navigate to http://www.lfs.net/
* Login (if you can not login, try retrieving your WEBpassword using this link.
* Click the "Account Details" link
* Enter a new GAMEpassword
* Confirm your new GAMEpassword

Now the "hacker" should not be able to connect to any server.

Quote from OBP 55 :Hey [...]

Relax. There has not been any negativity towards you, the program or the developer. People were just uncertain of what you were on about (just as I were until the point the feature list was posted).

Good luck with your project, Greenseed!
Not worried!

Consider the fact that there's no subscription fee, that the content upgrades (S1->S2->S3) are optional, that InSim is fully available in the demo, that there's no time-limit on the demo, that old versions of LFS are not actively locked out from the master-server, and so on.

Clearly The LFS Team is not in it for the money. Something else is their driving force, and I know for a fact that it's their dedication to making the best online racing simulation. This means they will not always give the community what it wants, when it wants it.

This is why I'm not the least worried about the lack of content updates (nor any other kind of updates for that matter). They'll become available when the time is right. Until then I'll spend my time partaking in some league racing, organising IRL-meets, visiting my girlfriend in Norway, having a drink with my friends and other quality stuff.

Devs, take your time!
Community, don't panic (written in large, friendly letters).

Thanks for stopping by, Ben (even if the travel time was about as long as your stay, hehe). Just like the last time we met I had a great time.

The participants seem very happy with the event so chances are we'll organize one or two events each year from now on. I'll keep you (all) posted.

Edit: In case anyone was wondering the meet had 24 visitors of which 18 took part in the karting.

Quote from Tim_J_23 :Aw damnit ... Gothemburg, I can't go down there IF I wont share a place in a car with someone who is going there ...

Then I suggest giving the same information in the relevant thread over at the swedish forum. I don't know where you're at but we've got people driving quite far from the south AND north. It should be quite feasible to work something out.

Quote from Gnomie :Aw, this was tempting..! A bit far to travel, though, just for a short event..

By the way your link seems to be broken.

Hehe, I travelled from Sweden to UK for a 1-day event. Our event starts on friday and ends on sunday.

Thanks though, link fixed.
