Quote from thisnameistaken :I'd rather die in an embarrassing accident that was clearly my own fault. At least it would get a laugh.

Like telling a squaddie who has just returned from Afghanistan that he is a thick sh*t.

What lag?? Never noticed anything...was pretty quick zapping from one thing to another.

Bump...The Diamond is great...just love it!!
The touch screen scrolling is a bit weird until you get used to it, by once you get the hang of it, everything becomes very easy indeed!
Selecting a call from your contacts list is easy, as is texting. The supplied game is a b*st*rd... very simple, VERY addictive, and well, you just have to try it, mere words cannot describe the FORCE FEEDBACK (!!!1!!1!!!) that is incorporated in it!

Just finished installing the PDA/WinMo version of Tomtom UK...works a treat, especially with Homer Simpsons voice!! Might give Ozzy Osbourne a try tomorrow...can you imagine it? "Turn f**king left here you c**t!!!!"

Quote from thisnameistaken :I'm KevTEOP but I doubt I'll be on the multiplayer. I had a look last night and couldn't actually find the multiplayer...

Kev...you got to be logged into both GFW AND Rockstar Club to play multiplayer, and then you choose the option through your mobile

HINT: For those that have to start the program logged OUT of Rockstar club to avoid the MMA10 bug...just start the game, and when you get to the 1st menu screen (the one with R* News on it) .. Alt-Tab out of GTA, sign in to R* Club, then go back into the game... Works for me

We could, of course, arrange an online session for the LFS'ers that read this forum... It is a certainty that we all have a nice shiny new GFW Live account, so lets post our tags here so that we can add everybody to the friends list or whatever, and then we can see about setting up a session.

My GFW Live name is:"LFS Bladerunner"

(original, huh?)

Have to disagree there Jack..I can text (in REAL English..not "txtspk") faster using my smartphone ..currently a HTC S710 (=Orange SPV E650).. faster than Emmy (my TEENAGE daughter) can text using txtspk. This is thanks to the slide out qwerty keyboard..no hunting for buttons and tapping 4 times just to type a letter "s". Never forget, if you dont like predictive texting, you can always turn it off.
As for calls..I just hit ONE button..scroll down the list and hit call....all done!

WiMo phones CAN be good, you just have to learn how to use them.

Added to the fact that I have had HTC phones for the last 4 years and have never found them to be difficult to use or unreliable, this is the main reason that I am looking no further than the Diamond for my next phone (TOMORROW!!! W00T!)

Quote from Hyperactive :In a democracy you vote for people who make the decisions for you. In dictatorship you don't get to vote.

In the UK it seems that you vote for people who make decisions for THEMSELVES!!
To be fair, I think that proportional representation should be implemented as soon as possible.

On the subject of the minority having the final say, can I just point out two glaring examples of 'minority' rule, that the global consensus thought was a bad idea, and was subsequently changed.... Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Ah, so you prefer to live in a dictatorship? In a DEMOCRACY the majority should make the decisions.

Hang on until Wednesday and I will give you a review of the HTC Diamond...
My last 3 phones have all been HTC's, and I have always found them to be reliable, easy to use, and more than enough features to keep me happy until I get to upgrade it.. Which, as it happens, is this coming Wednesday

What do the initials "DNA" stand for:

"National Dyslexia Association"

-----------------------------------------------

I bumped into Jim Smith (the current manager of Oxford United) in Sainsburys the other day..he was asking the assistant for a sack of potatoes for the Club's Xmas dinner...

I walked up to him and asked what he was doing in Sainsburys.

"Getting a sack of spuds for the team", he replies.

Says I: "Sounds like a good deal!"

---------------------------------------------------

Billy Turley (Oxford Utd goalie) wont be going to the Teams Xmas Party... He always misses the ball!

--------------------------------------------------------

Guy goes into a pub with a dog... Dog starts watching football on Sky Sports..and suddenly runs up and bites the cable.
Barman asks guy: "Why did your dog do that?"
Guy replies: "He always do that when Oxford lose"
Barman: "What does he do when they win, then?
Guy: "How should I know, I've only had him 4 years"

Quote from hrtburnout :It works perfectly here! I have -novblank and -availablevidmem 3.0, and I get good fps on high/high

Just a quick query...what CPU/GFX card/OS are you using? I tried adding those lines, and although it showed up in the UI as available memory, it refused to load the benchmark test!

(Q6600@2.4, 8800GTS, 6Gb DDR2 RAM, Vista x64 Ultimate)

I can still run it at med res, med textures, and high renders, but fails when I try to push it too hard.

(Just a warning, I have seen reports on the GTA forums of guys frying their GFX cards by trying to push them too hard!!!)

A young couple decided to 'spice up' their love life by inventing a new game for the weekends..
On Friday evening the fella went into a sex-shop and bought a big pack of multi-flavoured condoms, took them home, and explained to his girl that the idea of the game was that he would put on one of the condoms, and she would guess the flavour...

All went well the first night, then on the second night she started to play, and said: "mmm Thats difficult, I reckon that must be Cheese and Onion flavour"

He says: "But I havent put one on yet!"

Quote from P5YcHoM4N :
Of course bad drivers are everywhere, bus drivers are the worst.

According to which statistics?? "The Clarkson Bible of Road Users" perhaps???

White Van Man should be on the list of bad drivers somewhere....you forget that the vast majority of bus drivers (OUTSIDE of London) run the daily risk of instant dismissal if they are reported for bad driving (providing that it is proven!)

Admittedly there ARE bad bus drivers, but most of us are VERY safe. The average motorist has very little to fear from a bus, as long as they aren't trying to be a total prats, or carve into a bus lane...in which case they become a valid targets

(Same goes for cyclists...obey the Highway Code and you live....ride without lights at night or jump red lights.... I'll get you one day!)

Quote from BlackEye :According to this thread , GTA IV does work on XP x64. You just need:
- .NET Framework 3.5
- Windows Media Encoder 9 Series x64 Edition
- SP2

And apparently it works on Vista x64 too, so I'll just install that as it's collenting dust on a shelf anyway (in a worst case scenario).

Can someone from here confirm that it does work at least on x64 Vista?
I don't like RAM limit in x32 systems

Confirmed working on Vista 64 (SP1, btw)

Quote from Sir moi 407 :Am I the only one who spotted that this is really stupid?
How can they compare a 8600 with a HD3870?
The HD3850-70 is really really a lot more powerfull than the 8600... You can compare a 8600 with a HD26** but never with a HD38**

Probably a contract with Nvidia?

Probably...

Look on the back of the box...they clearly show the nVidia logo, but no ATi stuff. It has also been widely reported that there are problems for ATi users, so it would suggest that the game is better optimised for nVidia than ATi; not that it is as good as it could be on nVidia.
As for the 512 vRAM 'limit', I only have 320, but it still chugs along adequately.. this COULD be because I have a LOT of spare system RAM that may be supplementing this...not sure though.

Installed and running well on my system...only glitch is that it wont connect to the Cockstar Social Club..says I am off line
Looks like I am going to have to browse the forums to see what ports need unblocking/forwarding.

Cant run it at full graphics even with my rig (only got 320mb video ram ) but still looks OK and runs smooth so far.

Oh...and only took about 20 mins to install from start to finish, and that included registering with Rockstar and Windoze Live.

Quote from rockclan :Hey guys,

Time has passed and I've collected 90 euro's.

And now I want to buy something with it, but I don't know what?

I was thinking of an awsome game, hmmm
Or a Logitech MOMO (could be little more expensive but would have it fast)
Plane ticket to England...
But I thought, let's ask YOU guys!

Tell me... What to buy with my € 90,- ?

Buy about £80 sterling and keep them for 6 months...then when you change them back you should get about €60 for them!

On the other hand, you could save them until you have enough for a decent Gfx card...you dont have far to go
