Quote from THE WIZARD DK :Eric actually said a bit simular once :

i would have thought fictional tracks were easier to make .
because you design it yourself ,hence can decide whatever.
i didnt know you too were on black & white. now i do.
but as i never really seen this post before ,
maybe an update to marshalls in LFS with animation could be suggested?
go left (or right), he raises the arm as cars pass by, and lowers it while no cars in some distance from them?
that would also bring a little more life to tracks environments.
could go further even, to ambulance staff, lorry/truck staff etc.caravan people with a coffee table sitting watching the race.
and crowds could rise up and down with arms when passing by and sit down again when no cars around.
oh my. that sort of turned into a suggestion somehow. lfs player hacker tool, could maybe be updated by you aswell?
things mentioned here , i think people would take to them in a good way tbh.
maybe i should make that in suggestions, but i guess it will be noticed here.
take your time Eric. i for one am sure the time taken also makes it worth it. well thats my general idea with anything LFS really. quality over quantity.

EDIT:
Landmass flatness. in some areas of LFS it seems to be out of scale with some things. (not that its important as such) , but it is visible with some things. example could be tirestacks. one tire would go to the knee of marshal , when on tire wall side flat on ground. ofc some tires are made this big, but if looking at uf1 tires, compared. theres actually a very visible difference in scale.another example i noticed is the wood fence in westhill.im aware its a barrier to closed areas, but they are as tall or maybe even taller than a car which seems unlikely irl. heres what i mean :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxhxL1LzKww

With real tracks you just go and laser scan them and that is the majority of the hard part done, the rest is laying textures

The following can be said for both demo and licensed servers, virtually no-one wants to be the first or only person to join a server so people will and do look to join licensed servers but due to the what i stated they stay empty, throughout the course of a day if myself or a team member are on our licensed servers we have many that have been on the server, i suppose many also just want a few quick races hence why they do not want to be the first on a server and have to wait until others join.
It is far from how it used to be but not totally dead and all it takes a little patience to get a few racing.

@sinanju - Hit the nail on the head Smile

Quote from Ped7g :I have no issue to accept LFS is currently not ideal for VR because of the 100Hz physics clash with headset refresh rates. And I can also easily accept some person may feel about this strongly and consider that as show-stopper issue for them.

But saying LFS has "no VR support" is in my eyes just pure insult as it does plenty of VR support already and doing many things very well. And especially as LFS was *first* racing-simulator to have decent level of VR support, way before the other big names managed to adjust theirs sims.

So I was just trying to explain that to MaartenB, that his words are technically way too much incorrect (although I guess it was meant to mostly deliver how he feels about it, so I guess LFS devs could handle it and take it as feedback, which is always important and thank you MaartenB for at least commenting about it).

The thing is with VR it's more of an unpleasant experience with Pcars 2 and A.C with stutters, which i have also put many hours into, the only plus on their side is graphically better

Quote from Skytrill :LFS is by far the most convenient and comfortable experience I had in any racing games in VR. You basicaly just sit on your fat ass with your wheel and the tiny (useless with 99% of other games) oculus remote controller and click the LFS icon from your desktop or from the oculus panel and Voila. The virtual keyboard from LFS works with the Oculus controller so you don't even need a keyboard and mouse.

The refresh rate is an issue if you are looking 90 degrees on your left or right while driving, something I had no idea was an issue before I read about it from others. Correct me if I'm wrong but the same issue exist for monitor users depending on their refresh rate settings. Maybe if Scawen could make LFS physics runs at 180hz that could help much.

Yeah the issue is their for monitor drivers also,to be honest i focus that much on the other cars and the road in front of me that scenery ect i rarely take notice of unless it's at the end of a race Smile

Quote from cargame.nl :What my opinion about VR is has exactly zero to do with it. The problem is that you have a biased view on everything related to LFS. If the next release involves blue colored grass you still would rave about it. But, setting the whole "you this - you that" discussion aside..

1) New user comes with stuttering video
2) community replies, its normal, by design. In general this sim is ahead of its (VR) time. It does everything better then anything else on the market
3) new user says, well if its being seen like that then I'm out of here

Pretty bad order of events. The only structural reply would be; it's a known issue and being worked on. Not something like, ah ye.. Well.. Everything else is great, just buy it.

On a personal note, its stated nowhere that I do not like VR. Don't speak for me, you are not in a position to do that. Nobody actually. If you are confused or have questions, ask. /out

The video stuttering has only ever been a problem for me personally when i tried to use open VR instead of the occulus setting meaning it opened steamVR which really hits performance

You say on a personal note it's stated nowhere that you do not like VR ! Look through all your comment's regarding VR in the past and it gives it away that you don't like it

Look at the following video's and see if you notice any stutter bad enough that it would ruin the experience greatly.

From what the OP makes it seem like he experienced, it's more likely something not being set correctly.

Quote from cargame.nl :Except being able to produce a smooth video.. Quite essential.

If as a community you need to tell newcomers that its by design and that this sim is ahead so much in time.. Is just... No words.

Hilarious.

When it comes to VR, your comments mean nothing as you have a biased unfounded view, you do not like VR and one of a few that feel the same, while the masses prefer it. I have many thousands of hours gaming including with VR and Racing sims from A.C and Pcars 1+2 also Iracing and none of them provide an easier and more comfortable experience than with LFS.

Any of the issues with LFS in VR are also present without using VR. This "smooth video" issue you state is something i have read about but honestly not noticed apart from if you focus on the scenery which also happens with non-vr

Quote from MaartenB :I'm not gonna argue, I appreciate the efforts made, it looks promising. I'll come back if it's in a state that works for me. Thanks for the support.

Considering very many had come to LFS due to it having what is claimed by so many as the best VR support for a racing sim id say the issue is with your end of things.

Quote from Paprika6 :It's like saying that a music maker software developer can be sued because his software is capable of copying artist's songs.

EDIT: I'm no lawyer but if Scawen doesn't make an official release with a new car including an existing car brand or other game's own car he is untouchable.

Music making tools such as cakewalk or fl studio are not capable of copying an artist song, you have to build or play the song using instruments/VST's ect , and yes if a lot of music will get flagged on places such as youtube even if the only thing that is resembles the original song is an acapella, some songs are in the public domain and may be freely remixed/mashed otherwise you need seek permission. All from personal experience over 10 years

Quote from cargame.nl :well.. there are 3 times the amount of Brazilians comparing to the UK population. ****ed around pretty well, tripling the population since 1960. Add to the fact that english is a top ranked international language but still ignored as a language by about 75% of the world population and the LFS main website/shop is only in English.. Then I am not surprised at all. Most people simply don't know better because they aren't provided with correct information in their own language.

What surprises me is that people are surprised in 2020 while there was a lengthy discussion about it in 2016 and even much earlier where I addressed this Youtube problem already multiple times (this is just one referral; https://www.lfs.net/forum/post/1915422#post1915422 funny enough its about exactly the same crack group).

There seems to be no interest to do something about it, even a kid could do what I did with Youtube and it's not much effort at all. But eehh ye..

I guess its part of the whole LFS experience, yearly or semi yearly recurring discussions about exactly the same issues with extremely limited progress (not talking about LFS development in particular but rather the whole scene in general).

Makes Sense ... Big grin contradicting itself, virtually every foreign person i know from LFS right through to working with or alongside speaks english, reading sometimes may be a little more difficult for some but not greatly

In the sense you're talking about it is saying that all games would be repetitive, either running around with a gun on different maps(sometimes only one map)which compares to racing which has different cars which all require a different style and skill of driving on multiple maps, every football game has the same objective but varying levels of opponents like fps games. The only games that would be different in most way's are ones like adventure games with puzzles to complete (tombraider ect)

fortnite is very repetitive and ends up boring as does battlefield which i have 1600+ hours played and the repetitive game play becomes a strength as you learn more but still can be boring

fifa and other football games i played a lot many many years ago but got boring

Quote from Pistolero 667 :Hello!

Welcome back to LFS!

Scawen said that the future big DX11 update for LFS will not be as demanding as it was now in terms of hardware. So if you play on screen, you can play with a mid-range PC that will not cost you much.

Just be aware of that you need a graphic card that can handle DX11 if you want to play LFS with the DX11. And from what i understand, the DX9 and DX10 graphic card will no longer be supported.

But if you are looking for play in VR, (with i recommand you as i'm concerned because it gives a wayyyy mooooree immersive experience with 3d mirrors and real time helmet moving Smile i suggest you for minimum an Intel I5 or I7 with a minimum of 3ghz and an nvidia RTX 2070.

Agree with reccomdations but an RTX 2070 is not need to play VR, VR runs fine on a gtx 970 or gtx 1070

Quote from racer1012 :lmao, that's the same account. I used to be called Nigel Mansell, then Fernando Alonso, then Aernando Flonso, and now [AR] Aernando. I know i made a mistake and someone locking up or braking too late could've smashed into me. My bad.

It's not the issue of someone locking up or braking too late, all that shows is that you still would pass the blame if that happened. The issue would be that you stopped on the race line and obstructed the flow of the race.
