Do those look like cloth laid over curb and glued down? Sure, they do look very convincing of that. I'm not sure that cloth is something that would be used on a track curb though. I much prefer the look you went for with the Blackwood/South City curbs. These do look like they're lit for a different purpose, I hope you can find a look that suits them.
Tristan, you just don't get it. It looks like a jet fighter and jet fighters are cool. It goes like one too so it's awesome. And all the little details seem to follow function. I really like the look of the thing...
From what I can tell in the article, this will be exactly what the car will look like despite the pictures looking rendersque with a bit of photoshopping thrown in. The title is, after all, "Zonda R revealed".
...Give me a minute while I try to fathom your stupidity.
OK, I doubt you'll be able to understand any of this but, firstly this is a race car. As such, it's not made to be a poser's car and to look pretty, it's made to merely go fast around a track. Secondly, it was created by one man, and as such you should appreciate his efforts - because you're incapable of building something better. Also note that what he has achieved in terms of engineering is nothing short of spectacular. He is also following this thread so maybe you should show a bit of respect. Thirdly, as people have said, the Ariel has been discussed, its developers have been contacted and they did not respond back. I for one want the DP1 and the Atom equally in LFS because they're both engineering marvels that will be one hell of an adrenaline rush to race. Lastly, you're a demo user which means that you've contributed nothing to the development of LFS and as such you have little say in what gets in and no say at all in what doesn't get in.
So let's sum up: You care too much about appearances where they don't matter, you're disrespectful, you're presumptuous and you speak where you shouldn't.
Now, please, everyone else posting in this thread, don't let it go to ruins because of this and respond to his post further. It's been a great thread so far.
Road tyres in LFS can hit about 1.4-1.5 lateral g's on a good setup... which is already probably excessive considering that those cars don't have downforce.
Whoop-dee-doo. That doesn't change the fact that this is a forum that people visit from work and it makes them look like a bunch of perverts.
EDIT: Just a bit more on the off-topic thing, I have no problem with people appreciating women's beauty in their avatar, but why focus on a certain body-part that women are sensitive about showing? That's not appreciating women's beauty anymore, that's just being a pervert.
All I see on the website is spam and nothing about the league. Please tell us more about cars, tracks, rules etc. I run LXCC (with a bit of help from my team) and let me tell you, it ain't easy running your own league. It's a huge commitment so don't take it on unless you're sure you'll have the time.
I know, but you need to let people know about the race at least 2 days in advance so they can make a setup, considering the fact that we have no multiplayer telemetry... but that still leaves it a bit unfair. And to let them know an hour before the race won't work IMO.
/me puts a thinking cap on and tries to think of something to make this work for LXCC2.
Vain, for the idea of limiting practice, I really think we'll need assistance from the devs. A system to stop you from driving single player or online on a specific combo (or the track altogether, both forwards and reversed) outside the practice times for the league you have signed up for would be a great addition to leagues in LFS. Ie. signups for a league end say 3 weeks before the first race. Until that time, combos are not disclosed. Then each player isn't allowed to drive the then disclosed combos until that race has passed. You get the just of it. Only sad thing is that the system would be easy to get around but I'm sure something can be worked out making it pretty difficult for people to cheat it and not worth the effort.
Smooth! Draw people to the STCC LFR server by advertising that you (as if you're the center of the world and the moment you're on everyone else is going to want a piece of the action) have gone there in a thread where I already organised an LX4 event at that time... so naturally what happens? 10 people were on the vMax server at a point, we were having quite a nice race but at the same time there's another 10 or so on the STCC LFR server.
I like the idea of modding and expanding the game but I agree that the devs will have to be innovative (and they've proven many a time that they can be) to insure that mods are of good quality.
The only way to race LXs IMO is in an organised event, they take practice, they're not so easy to do pickup races in... you can't just pop onto an LX server without practice and hope to be competitive. But a bit of practice and other good races, and you have one hell of a race.
vMaxHome will be running LX4 @ Westhill Reversed tonight. I'll try pop 'round sometime too. I'd say from 6pm GMT to about 10pm GMT, we'll be running free-for-all 8 lap races (roughly 15min races). Please join. I'll put it on the calendar too. And here's a good set for everyone (this is what cmckowen used to set the WR and my time on the charts is also done with that). Sorry if I'm being a cheapskate and taking a combo I'm fast at but it's really sublime in an LX and I have no time to practice at all.
(you can make a note in this thread to display interest so that people know that there will be enough to make a good race.)
Have you noticed that LFS models tyre deformation and hence tyre forces by the way? Here's a good slowmotion movie where you can have a look at that: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=14198
