They're gone now, just hoping the security flaw on the master server or in the LFS code is sorted by scawen. Albeit he might have already been aware and installed a patch and thats why they both left all of a sudden.

I used to have this with LFS, cant remember what i did to fix it, think it was something to do with antialiasing but cant be sure.

Good idea for cruise servers, my car you hit the button on the steering wheel set your speed and off you go, only way to switch it off is to hit the pause button on the steering wheel or put ya foot to the floor where i feel a small click, other way is too brake

tbh, think the easiest approach would be to make the drag strip a bit longer :P

Quote from steve :60hz LCD's do

Think your getting confused with LCD response rates :] LCD's don't flicker, screen drag from poor response rates (older LCD's with 20ms response etc) will cause a flicker like movement on the screen. The higher refresh rate helps a lot with the response timings. I've got a 12ms LCD and never noticed a flicker @ 60hz :] Got to say, had an old LCD, and the screen drag at 60hz then...tis the one way to feel like having your head down the pan! Gave it to my bro and stuck my CRT back on till i got this monitor

And yeah i had to come off earlier was making me feel violently sick! Used to only get that with some of the old megadrive games lol

As for permissions, majority of model makers release for free, and the user who has downloaded it can do whatever s/he wants with it, which includes remodelling and moving the model into another game. The problem arises when the person rereleases it into the public domain, then it breaches copyright (think this was what you were getting confused with jakg) if it has been released without approval of the owner (if you cant get in contact, general consensus is to put the authors name in the credits). Only other thing is if the owner has explicitily said in the readme no reverse engineering of any sort, (which 90% dont, you only generally see this in marketed products). Had to do all this copyright stuff for university, doing computer games design :] Just thought id fill in the details.

As for moving it into LFS, your going to need detailed knowledge of coding, to make an app that can convert into the correct format. Kegetys is a wizz with that stuff, but good luck to you, if you do manage to do it. however, I implore you not to release it.

At any rate buy S2, you'll love the experience.

2500+ = 1.5ghz p4? lol? the 2500+ clock speed is 1.83ghz. And is designed to actively compete with the 2.5ghz P4's. And only shortfalls in a couple of instances, which are somewhat tiny differences.

More than sufficient processor for LFS (could advise overclocking as well, the 2500+ is brilliant for it, and the extra juice might help reduce the cracking sound). Though it sounds like a power issue tbh. I only had cracking sound when i had a brown out (used to happen all the time in my area).

Funnily enough my SLI didnt properly work till i got this new driver set (it was set to single GPU rendering and couldn't change it from this till the new driver set), but i didnt have this problem immediatly after installation, just seems to have appeared out of nowhere. Will have a go at uninstall.
Strange line in middle of screen
sturje
S3 licensed
This is generic to LFS before you ask, monitor is fine :] Basically, in full screen mode i have a strange line (about 4-5 pixels high, then from edge to edge horizontally) that appears smack bang in the middle of my screen while playing, the other big problem with this, is below this line, i cannot see the mouse, and can't fiddle with the car settings without some serious guesswork as to where the mouse is.

Only way around this at the moment is to leave LFS in windowed mode (which i'm not too keen on).

I have suspicions that this could be because of the SLI (i have dual 7600GT's) with the split frame rendering mode (though i thought this was vertical split rather than horizontal? :S), i have the SLI mode at the moment set to automatic.

It doesn't seem to screen shot but an example of this would be:

|-------------------| <- monitor edge
|
|
|
|-------------------| <- strange line
|
|
|
|-------------------| <- monitor edge

Sorry for the crudeness of the example, i'm at university at the moment :]

Starting to get on my nerves a bit, any help would be nice :]

I pay 5 pounds every 3 months for my ventrilo server, a 10 connection server, personally i find ventrilo easier to use than teamspeak but different for everyone, last time i used teamspeak was about 3 years ago i think. I wouldn't run ventrilo off my connection at anyrate, 256k up and playing cs/lfs at the same time just isnt going to happen Renting is the way to go expecially with how cheap it is nowadays.

8 connections? Bit outdated on the info there Haven't touched teamspeak in a long time here, find it rather bad for counterstrike etc. Oh with ventrilo, you can change the voice codec on the server settings, speex 8905bytes/sec one is exceptionally good quality.

Nismo, god knows, but thats what it says on the tech specs overboost function or something. Though i must say pulling away you can really tell theres huge amounts of torque, the wheels spin if its at 4000rpm, and thats not dropping the clutch either :P Some of the newer 1.6litre engines have the same HP but have less torque than what i have at the moment (186 pounds)....Quite bizzare. (Buying a new 110bhp turbodiesel c3 in the next 2 weeks hopefully) Though its not standard diesel rather turbodiesel, If you look at some of the torque figures you'll be very surprised just how much they produce. The technological advancements are amazing.

For instance i know 2 litre turbodiesel engines (mercedes for instance) that produce less torque and less horsepower than my car, which i personally found an insult to engine design (0-60 in 15 secs on the A-class ) granny mobile soz for resurrecting(cant spell) an old thread, just noticed the question after checking the thread after a while

what annoys me the most about T1 is when you see people dart in using other cars as brakes. I also see crashes on the blackwood straight, ive lost count how many times i've said to myself "How???", must be lack of spacial awareness or something.

I tend to brake earlier, and go on the outside line so i don't get taken out. Watch about 6-7 cars get totalled and i've got my original position again if not 4-5 places up....

I can drift, but only because i've learnt to control oversteer/understeer. Its not a trick i use, because in my view its just to show off to the ladies (though i think quite a few would leave finger nail marks in the dashboard). People drifting on public roads....I mean, do they have a death wish?

As to IRL drifting, i have no intention of pulling my handbrake cable and having to tighten it :P

So much better driving fast with a nice line, much more impressive in my eyes. I'd have to agree that drifting is just for a bit of fun tbh.

34's....Used to be able to do that bumpdrafting FO8's in patch Q. Gone around it in 30 odd seconds in the BF1 drafting.

To be honest, i got put off the BF1 after about 2 weeks racing with it, its just too fast tbh lol, makes oval racing rather boring :/ So i'm just fixated on circuits now with the rest of the cars.

And agreed, but i believe it got too overplayed at the start. Nearly every server was BF1, was thinking where's those FOX,FO8 servers gone? :o

just to wheel4hummer lol.

This is a fantastic idea, just got my g25 wheel bout a week back now, and the clutch immediatly biting even after taking foot up a fraction of an inch has started to get to me lol. Quite interesting to watch what happens when you stick the car in 5th and put foot down Hmm, what about that lovely clutch burn smell anyone?

Hmm, well i installed my SLI configuration the other day running patch 22 getting and was getting about 50fps on blackwood, installed the u30 patch and its gone upto about 80-140fps which is much more like it The new patch seemed to cure me ;o

I also decided to download rfactor after leaving it alone for a long time (lfs is just too good to leave alone lol), I stuck all the graphics up to max with 16x AF and 4x AA, my gfx card generally doesnt struggle with anything but i did notice at points it dropping to the 30fps range which was a shocker :o

I run a 4000+ 64bit athlon, 256mb geforce 7 7600GT and a gig of ram.

I was generally facinated with the graphics and the sound, the physics arn't too bad but the uphill rally climb is almost bar impossible to control, even with a 40 degree steering range to control the oversteer and understeer. I almost feel like you need a 80 degree angle to control anything :o slip and slide absolutely everywhere, so i gave up with the rally (don't have this problem with LFS and have some serious fun :] ). The tracks arn't too bad, the tire physics seem not to bad here, but could do with some definate improvement, doesn't compare to the traction of LFS. It just doesn't have that 'feel' you get with lfs when taking a corner. The most ridiculously annoying thing with this, is you literally have to fight the steering wheel to get the absolute centre (where you get all the FF effects in rfactor, like the bumps in the road etc etc). with the FF strength on full i was tired after about 5 minutes of racing :o Okay, i might not be too fit, but the majority of this was trying to keep the steering wheel centred I would say the main attraction to rfactor is the graphics and sounds, as they are quite simply astonishing, however, the gameplay just doesn't match LFS. Rfactor has that strange arcadey feel, but i think with a years more development perhaps, it quite possibly could be up for a match against the current LFS in concerns of gameplay. But hey, LFS in a year Don't get me wrong, i think rfactor is quite a good game/sim, but for me personally, i would choose lfs over it.

Just my pennies worth :-) Everyone to their own tbh.

The community is usually at its peak at this time, around 45 servers to play on with people actually racing. I however, had a similar problem even with all the correct tabs selected. I reinstalled and the problems disappeared

At any rate, ive long lost interest in the oval myself. But i still think people saying its skillless should be beaten in the face with a 2 by 4. Might bring a tad bit sense to the equation.

And harry, i know, just get sick and tired of people taking the mick out of oval drivers.

rofl, I've seen circuit drivers come on the oval, and not one of them can keep up with those who've been on it a long time. I'll do a classic cs comment "Why lie?".

And as to the FM server, and the rules enforced are our own rules to prevent crashes, and quite frankly they work a charm. Don't like it, general rule of thumb is don't join, simple as that. It IS a game, try running into that wall at 200mph in real life. Realism is there already, LFS models it well enough. Physics are enough for me. But some people get a tad bit greedy it seems :/
