I always use my right foot, after not driving (IRL) for a while and left footing the brake in LFS for ages, it got into a bad habit. So now i have my own car i am a little bit more careful, and always use right foot irl and in lfs ;o
Plus you need that right foot for heel toe braking
My bets is this is another BF1 oval , need some old skool FO8 on this track, bf1 is too fast to have a proper competitive/fun race. The FO8 is the fine balance between the 3 open wheelers tbh.
And to th84, it took me longer to master the oval than any other circuit track. And im not the fastest either. Beligerant and complacent comment tbh.
Oh and as to those who don't like the spamming theres a button to stop all messages coming through.
I purchased rfactor a while ago, i usually just play it when i feel like a slight bit of change. The physics arn't that bad in rfactor, but they ain't brilliant either!
Believe the reason that guy was catching up quickly in a dodgy line was probally due to the setup. With rfactors customisable gear ratios and etc, top speed can be changed quite drastically.
I spent the £25 quid on it to see what it was like, isn't that bad. But i prefer lfs by miles, but its just about personal preference really.
I'd have to disagree with you, i'm quite sure its a lag compensation problem (95% sure) on drivers with fairly high pings (around 100 plus mark). Also the fact it only happens with drivers with high pings seems to clarify this.
And the suspension settings are quite different from Q setups now, they are actually quite similar to circuit setups if i'm being honest. The full stiffness and etc is now gone, and more believeable suspension setups are used
Yeah it is possible coz ive done it a couple times before, but u do need apply enough throttle to start a burn to cause it. The setups have a bit of understeer so its not too bad to control When traction control is off the wheels just burn madly, slow starts when doing that now. With Q patch you could burn out with the FO8 and quite easily, and get excellent start times leaving the opposition in the dust.
LFS is a CPU intensive game, it WILL make a difference if only marginal. The architecture is different but LFS does not use the 64bit side of it. I'm positive he will get at least a 5fps increase, saying a 2-3fps increase is just wrong :S . P4's arn't completely shit, the architecture is different, but there is still a 800mhz FSB, overclock it the FSB will go up as well. Overclock it by 150mhz im sure he'll see a slight difference in fps around the margin of about 5fps more.
Also furthermore to leagues, fragmaster holds various cups etc, which consist of a race every sunday. If your interested you can always pop into http://www.fragmaster.net and browse the forums
If im being honest mate, best thing to do is to watch some replays off LFSworld (http://www.lfsworld.net). You can watch those who run WR's and how they enter corners, tbh this is the best way to learn how to enter corners etc And overal how to take the best possible line and maybe accel with an even better line
Your geforce 2 is the limiting factor for LFS. Overclocking won't yield much results. (it doesnt support shaders, the haze effect etc), if you overclock your CPU u might get 5-10fps more (when i overclocked my 3000+ athlon64 from 2ghz to 2.2ghz i got a 20fps increase. was quite surprised to say the least)
and heh, i'm at college at the moment, so all i've been doing all day is going through the forums
Hey, theres a great hint and tip article on the team inferno website which concentrates on the setup side of stuff, but playing LFS its all about practice. So if you encounter a problem with stuff like your cars butt running wide around a corner check this:
But its all about practice, so just take a car out that tickles your fancy (good one is the FOX for beginners, sticks like s*** to a blanket round corners )
Concerning leagues, ESL offer a pretty decent league, and yeah i believe you have to be in a team (i haven't actually tried leagues). You have to be at a fairly competitive level with all cars, which will take a fair few months of practice if not at least half a year.
20fps is quite low, i would recommend overclocking your pc, and formatting it. But i don't think your going to get much more out of your pc. Think probally time for an upgrade
Its called sponging off the system. Something that quite frankly annoys me, when they can go out and get a job rather than just getting the money off the government. However, there are people who are on insanely low wages who are literally living off the bare minimum legal wage. Which gets them so far, and so they have some quality of life. Also another thing that i respect about this guy is the fact he hasn't cracked lfs or anything, he is figuring out a way to pay for it.
heh, very true. But concerning his pc and net connection, his parents are paying for it, and the pc and net connection benefits them as well. At anyrate, i completely agree with you on the fact he could go and get a job and get the money quite easily. But there are some people who are in backgrounds, that might have some things. But don't necessarily have the money over at the end of the month to go squandering on a racing sim
As your from the UK, i'm sure you can understand there are still a lot of people in this country living on the edge of poverty (social security literally gives people the bare minimum to support life). Some people really CANT afford it. As such, some parents are as tight as a rats backside with money as well. Jobs are also scarse as well. He has also been trying to get a bit of money so saying he's lazy is something you really can't substantiate at all :S
I can see where you are coming from mind you
I used to be his position of absolutely no money either at his age as well. So i can relate to his problem.
All i can say is just keep trying to get some wonga Go about where you live, im sure there are some places looking for some extra help/staff. Local convinience (cant spell for my life xD) store or something?
problem with this itd happen EVERY time you shift. Nice idea, but i rly wudnt want to hear the car backfire everytime i shift, itd get a tad bit annoying. Ill leave it to the devs to implement at a later stage
Sounds like an interesting idea. I'm not too sure about the need of a relay, purely because relays tend to be used when collosal amounts of people are watching an individual race. Aka when about 20,000-30,000 (inter-connecting relays) people are connected to watch the CPL final on dust2 or w/e.
Also concerning when large amounts of spectators are watching, the amount of bandwidth each spectator recieved could be dynamically adjusted depending on the amount of people watching the race. (the more people the less bandwidth they recieve, but just watching im sure the bandwidth uses would be quite low anyway). Also have to remember that LFS runs on a p2p system. Theoritically, the server could just run the spectator slots off its own bandwidth without the p2p system, this in turn would make it realistically possible to create such a system.
The problem, with the spectator slots at this moment in time is the p2p system. Expecially if one of the spectators is downloading (it happens....), this will lag the rest including the racers at the same time.
Try downloading the new T3 test patch, comes with some small graphical optimisations i believe. Only other thing i can suggest is overclocking your gfx card, which on a laptop i would be very hesitant to do anyway.
Personally i can see it being later, the release dates for new patches and releases always seems to be around 9pm (GMT) for some bizarre reason. Though the dev's might not be in the majority.
If i'm being perfectly honest, i think i would get bored racing around on my own. Though i can see your point I want the dev's to wack on a extra decimal point to make the WR's even closer
