You have to be careful blaming all these problems on 'the yoof', probably the most important thing I've learnt in the last 5 years of 'growing up' is that there really isn't such thing as 'grown up' people. You might become slightly wiser and more careful as you age, but adults are still almost as prone to bouts of child like behavior as children are. And in the open, anonymous context of the internet that is magnified.

If someone gave me the chance to dynamite a towerblock, I wouldn't say no, provided it was empty.

As for those of you doubting the quality of Soviet construction, to be fair I doubt it was ever designed with surviving a huge explosion in mind.

A lot of this forum's problems are issues endemic to the wider internet.

The biggest problem is that a lot of members confuse copy and pasting skills with wit, they think posting an overused 'meme' as a response is somehow a work of hilarious genius. A lot of this thoroughly stupid behavior gets passed off and justified as 'trolling' and a lot of members like to self style themselves as master trolls, when in fact their behavior involves no wit or cunning at all. Merely repeating well worn phrases and pictures is not clever, animals can be trained to repeat tricks on cue and this kind of behavior requires no more brain power.

A second problem lies with a lot of members having an over inflated sense of self importance and entitlement. One thing that really irks me is when a member creates a perfectly reasonable opening post in the off topic section, which is often followed by replies in which some other forum users feel the need to tell us all how much they don't care about the subject. These people don't seem to realise that the forum doesn't revolve around them, and that they have no right to try and stifle discussion just because they have no interest in it.

The final problem is that a lot of members feel that being cynical, apathetic and sarcastic about everything is also somehow the work of a sharp wit, even at times when this kind of behavior is completely unwarranted. Like anything else in life though, if you use these attitudes too often they become worn out and lose their hilarity. Genuinely funny people know when to be cruel and acerbic and when to be sincere and kind.

So...

TL,DR: Most of this forum's problems are the result of members attempts to be clever, cynical, sharp and funny. The majority ultimately fail and come across as retarded animals making repeated (copied) noises. Somehow standards have lowered to the point where many consider this to be hilariously funny. Couple this with an over sized sense of self importance and worth of one's own thoughts and you have exactly the kind of dickish behavior found here.

I believe it happens because the internet makes it so easy to broadcast our every inner thought that we've become too lazy to communicate intelligently and sincerely for too long.

Quote from Racer X NZ :I think WW part3 is worth a discussion, you want to talk about dicks, and it's about MY ego ?

Try this, George Carlin expains how wars are all about dick size, this may help some of you !

I can't help thinking that some of you are VERY insecure.

So, I assume that your all happy about the soon to happen dickfest, but why exactly are you insecure regarding Iran?

Could this be the reason ?

This had nothing to do with dicks until you made it about dicks.

These threads are always more about Racer aggrandising his ego than any 'informed discussion'. Terrible shame really, every radical or subversive political movement seems to attract these kind of delusional people and it gives them a bad name. Racer and his conceited attitude does nothing but harm to the causes he supports. But what does he care? He's in it for his own ego boost.

Quote from BlueFlame :You're either deaf, or trolling. When you hear nothing but a painful white noise. Yes it's clipping like hell.

I'm not sure you understand what clipping means. A severely clipped waveform looks like this...

Compare to the above from the 787 video, if there is any clipping in that video then its its a very very minute amount.

Quote from BlueFlame :You still don't understand do you. A human interpretation of something can be different to a scientific interperatation. Waveforms don't show you how something SOUNDS to your ear, if you can name a song from waveform though, I'd be bloody impressed.

You can tell the difference between two sounds by looking at their wave forms, that's why all decent audio recording software goes to the trouble of producing them. For example Sonar operators can identify an object (be it a school of fish or a ship etc) by looking at the wave form of received sound signals (in the case of passive, listening sonar). You may not be able to identify a specific song, but you'll certainly be able to see if its clipping, or distinguish a sound from white noise.

People will still use Mosport informally I'm sure.

Whats more important is that such a nice track continues to operate into the future.

I had a dream the other night where I was looking in a mirror and blood started spraying out the centre my right eye like tomato ketchup.

The oddest thing about it was that I didn't even feel remotely concerned by this, it was more a sort of "sigh, there it goes again" kind of feeling.

I like my dreams.

Quote from BlueFlame :I had a dream that I was an incredibly dick-ish forum troll. The best in the universe.

Dream on.

Quote from Bose321 :I will keep that in mind whenever your opinion is.

Also, the irony.

Fortunately I already keep this in mind, which is why I don't feel the need to post "don't care" in every thread featuring something that doesn't interest me like some entitled 10 year old kid.

You on the other hand....

Quote from Bose321 :Oh hi, just stating an opinion. Good thing not everyone is a dick like you.

I hate to break it to you like this, but your 'opinion' is of absolutely no value to anyone. Stop acting like people are desperate to hear your every thought, because they're not.

A continuation of International Rallying's fall from grace, as the sport has been reshaped by commercial interests to become less popular, and now finally completely shafted by these same commercial interests when they face crisis. If this continues much longer all the manufacturers will be jumping off as quick as possible. Its getting to the point where it would be better to scrap it all and start over. So ****ing frustrating.

Shame Racer, people could approach you more positively if you didn't feel the need to insult their intelligence every other line.

Why not cut out all this "get back to your X factor, sheep" business? Then maybe people might want to talk about what you have to say. I think other forumers are more challenged by your attitude towards them than they are by your opinions.

Makes me wonder if you're only here to assert a notion of superiority over the rest of us as a means to comfort yourself.

The biggest issue is the potential for massive abuse of internet anti piracy legislation. Once states have the power to remove websites for 'piracy' its not a particularly big leap for them to start taking down websites for all kinds of dubious reasons. I'm pretty sure that the passing of the Stop Online Piracy Act in the USA will probably lead to full on political internet censorship at some point in the near future.

The motive is clear, those in power have had enough of the ability the internet gives ordinary citizens to uncover and spread word of their corruption, given the slightest opportunity I have no doubt many governments would love to crack down on their countries access to the internet. Doing it in the name of anti-piracy is almost certainly a red herring. Any efforts to do so must be treated very seriously and opposed vigorously.
