The online racing simulator
Certainly... There is a difference between drifting for fun or drifting to show off people that it's barely possible..
But, but are rF and iR really that different from LFS/AC in terms of drifting controllability? I drift in rF just like I drift in LFS. I'm in no way a great drifter in any of the two, however I never found drifting in rF to be significantly more challenging. Are they different? Of course. One "barely possible" while the other very intuitive? Not really.

Never got my hands on iR so I can't comment on that one.
rF is less challenging, due to the unrealistic physics that the mods provide. Of course it doesn't give you an actual challenge with that much power, steering lock and infinite front-end grip. The car moves unnatural, like freaking arcade. I never got around to drift in iRacing, but even powerslides felt crap in the MX5... AC and LFS are kinda on pair in terms of controlling the car sideways. LFS' tires are kinda soapy compared to AC thought (AC is better in that term).
I was talking about ISI's default cars, not 3rd party drift mods.

Even with a keyboard it was manageable.
Drifting in rF without mods? Now that was impossible for me to do, it was really behaving the opposite way a car should while drifting...

I'm really enjoying drifting, even though I am absolutely hopeless at it and unfortunately have been doing it more by accident than plan. I'm slowly getting the hang of the E30 with 90's road tyres and it is fun to drive.

Strangely I'm quicker with the standard car than I am with the Stage 1 uprated version of the E30 M3, anyone else find this?

I found this aswell, just understeers like crazy with the S1 upgrade. It says in the blurb somewhere that (paraphrasing) the springs are much stiffer front than back for a certain reason, so that would explain the handling.
Drove the E92 M3 for a while today, thoiught I'd try some powerslides and drifts since this cr seems to handle that pretty well. Seems you can get it to a certain angle and then it just washes out no matter what you do. Feels pretty good up to that angle though. But it gets that iRacing uncatchable after a certain slip angle....
dafq? with d1 upgrade e92m3 washes out maybe at Kawabata angles, it's fool proof for drifting
I'm talking about the standard new M3, and it's not the only car. Feels like a general issue, tbh... This was with nice and hot street tires after a few laps where I started goofing off a bit and getting it wider and wider, until I hit this threshold where the car just washed out no matter what I did. This made me try the same with a few other cars and I felt the same.

Bear in mind I have a T500RS wheel and the FFB is really vague. Could be just something makes it feel weird through FFB... The FFB "fix" made it even more vague, if anything.

To me it feels perfectly natural. Usually it's not very easy to drift with hot tyres as you just loose it. I honestly think your tyres were too hot, or you're doing something wrong, because I know the thing you are trying to describe and it is not present in my game. It kinda feels like LFS and that is so awesome. Using G25 btw.
LFS feels completely natural to me, but AC is just a little off compared to my real life experience with something comparable to the E30 M3 (GT86).
Since when is this forum full of wannabe drifters?
I find it's a nice way to evaluate over-the-limit behaviour.

Also, it's fun!

+1. Although AC has a good base for drifting, I much more enjoy circuit driving.

That's odd 80% time what I do in AC is drift, I am not drifter and i don't like it very much as a sport, but I like going sideways form time to time, and drifting is best way to judge the tyre physics
I can't believe how much I've lost the last few years, though I guess it makes sense - don't use it - lose it! Having a hard time breaking 58s with the 458 at Imola
It is as fun as beeing cockblocked by your pal on town, and then heading home to wank just to realize that you're too drunk and sad to actually do anything.

That's pretty accurate I think.
Obviously you're doing it wrong, and/or you're a socialist that can't stand others being different. Sad in any case.

Anyways, I like the sim, except the weird high angle issue and weak FFB.

Hehe. Pulling your chain, dude.

Anyways, drifting and goofing off is fun in real life, but expensive. In a sim it's cheap and fun if the physics make sense, which they sorta do in AC. I can enjoy both sims in both modes.
None offence taken
And in the end of the day I have nothing against driting. It is nothing I really enjoy watching, but I aknowlege the skills needed for doing drifting, both in games and in real life.
In my mind, the fact drifting is so popular in AC means they did it right. It's like LFS where driting makes sence, hence it's popular. Try drifting in other sims and it just can't be done in most of them, or you have to jumt through hoops to make it happen. Most road cars with rwd can pretty easily be drifted or at least you can hold a powerslide pretty easily.
