i play exactly the same games and all work very well, LFS running much better than the others in VR for me though.

Do you get the same problem if you try hotlap or single player mode ?

I normally play assetto corsa , pc1,pc2 and race room. all work perfect in VR. some use oculus and some steam VR. I downloaded LFS recently and since day one it’s stuttered. I only use oculus with LFS no steam VR. The game is locked at 90fps and verified it’s running at 90fps . After I first downloaded it and noticed the stuttering I took to the internet after trying settings first thinking it was that. That lead me to this post with other users having the issue as well. I have yet to find a solution despite searching the net and seeing people suffering from it. Not sure why some works fine some the game is un playable (like mine)

Quote from hot00frb :So Iv tested it with another rift , it’s def the game . My other sims work flawless. I’ll try to do a through the lens tonight.

How can it be the game if it works for others better than it is for you ?. The only thing we have different is hardware and how the system is setup. Do you have steamVR or steam running in the background as that can greatly mess with the fps ? Also your refresh rate and FPS should be lock by LFS when your in VR mode

The only real time i suffer a freeze for a ms or 2 is sometimes when someone joins the server or leaves the pits but that has also been noted by some non VR users

I have the same issue, I really love LFS and my 980ti [email protected] can runs it at hundreads of FPS, but I have headacke after 5/10minutes because of this laggy style fx Frown
I'll try to lower FPS to 50hz anywhere in the config.

Thanks to dev team to take time to answer us Smile

must be something set incorrectly, mine seems to be running good, occasionally it falls below the fps which it is locked at for vr but it is not often Smile

you can try installing Trinus VR on it, I used to play LFS with Google Carboard and my phone, worked ok, but you need to waste some time on setup. You can set it up to work wirelessly or through a USB

Quote from MicroSpecV :Well, for the faster drivers who can adapt to cars and tracks relatively quickly, it isn't much of an issue and hence you may feel it doesn't warrant a huge discussion or resolve. However, for slower or newer LFS members, it may be really puzzling and frustrating wondering where the laptime is slipping from and how drivers are able to seemingly caress a car through a corner with ridiculous speed and a controlled slide.

I know this because I felt this frustration myself back then and constantly see drivers get trumped by the unrealistic car handling.

If it's racing amongst the best drivers then I guess it wouldn't spoil the racing, but let's face it, LFS just isn't as big now and we have a greater mix of drivers with varying skill level than ever before. It's only right that we give everyone a handling model that cannot be exploited and is able to be driven as close to what a real car would handle, or at least, what good handling feels like to the average joe.

You can see this in action by viewing any of the "professional" sim racers on Youtube who review LFS and drive, they are only at best just beating Pro AI and what do you know - all of their driving styles are the point and turn, non sliding style that is present in other sims. They drive the LFS vehicles like how they best know a car should handle and react. And none of them would instintively go "hey, I think sliding around a corner is faster!". Even Jimmy Broadbent in a XRR doesn't bang in a 4 wheel powerslide at BL1 Turn 1. Go figure..

Linking back to the original point, so yes. It does ruin the racing, sad to say. Even for a relatively experienced driver myself, I just am not able to wrap my head around mario karting through corners and have since ignored this driving style to just focus on my own style, and it worked out well, although I am never as fast as the WR or sliding drivers.

P.s It has become so annoying that I have resorted to exploiting another flaw in the handling model to basically replicate realistic handling (rear following front, no powersliding to gain time) through altering the set up drastically, and it's coming quite close to being as fast as the sliding sets, although I have yet to master this new set up trick on all cars but I can assure that it is definitely a flaw in the handling and is probably as dumb as the OP topic on the sliding advantage.

But... there's no point elaborating on this set up style because no dev has hopped into this thread yet to shed some light and I just don't want to waste time attempting to raise concern for a handling model that's quite meh.

Most new drivers lose time due to factors such as incorrect braking points and bad lines and also to do with a setup that better suits there driving style. The main thing that i have been told numerous times by many of the years and even recently by my own dad is how bad a setup the default ones are, my dad for example just wants to race offline and would like something that he could put his VR headset on and drive at any pace but the default sets suck so bad to give someone a chance to do it proper

I can see that the issues your stating would/could be something are more experienced hotlapper might see as an issue or at least the more experienced

After watching a couple of the south city WR's with the XRR i cannot see what you claim being used which i would of thought would of shown what you claim,so if it was more of an advantage surely it would have been used

Qualification:

Race:

Winner:

Race statistics / Event rating and other statistics (will be updated later this week)

This week we had one of the very rare actual real life combos - the Formula BMW was raced in Rockingham circuit,allthough it will be closed soon if already hasn't. Still - this was the chance to enjoy a bit more realistic racing and a total of 17 drivers used it. It was the 10th RTFR event in row with attendance higher than all time average.

The 4-time winner Litti (while using a VR device?) started the race from 3rd grid position and after 1st chicane used the fight between both front row starters for his advantage and outbraked both in the 1st actual turn - he never gave up the lead for remaining 76 kilometers of race distance and joined a bit more exclusive 5-time winners club. While running away from competition,he also set the fastest lap of the race - his 7th,while he also finished in top5 for the 7th time. Botsi was the 2nd fastest in qualifying and kept this position also after early position switchings,but his chase for lead never succeded - 2nd place finish,which is 38th top5 entry for him. Maddee set the fastest lap in qualifying and scored his 2nd pole position,unlike last time he did that,this time he tried to convert in into win - he started an RTFR race for 2nd time and completed one for the first time with 3rd place finish. Ironically the driver who broke finnish winning streak was the fastest non-finnish driver also yesterday - R.Kardol was best of the rest and finished 4th,scoring his 21st top5 finish,while first time participant GT4tube closed the top5.

Next week it will be time for the longer RTFR version XL,where the fastest car of LFS will make it's debuth in the event - BF1 will be raced in Kyoto National course,used in reversed direction,full details tomorrow in the according thread. A week after that again the normal RTFR will return with one of the street legal cars for racing,info about that as always in the weekend before that.
OTHER DRIVER HEAD moving better in VR

Hi,

I drive VR and it will be so nice to have more detailled head moves of friends in close fighting
I suggest to add option for LAN party with VR, to set possible to add a perfect head tracking of other driver's heads like it is made for the local helmet, it would be so immersive!
It would be the first ever racing software to give perfect mirrors and perfect heads tracking ;-)

thanks!

Quote from adirany :I tried the versions of blackwood in assetto corsa and rfactor 2. The feeling that I had is that I am driving in a racing game.

With the original Blackwood in LFS, I am racing for real. As I mentionned earlier I am using some tweakings to the FFB. The standard FFB in LFS needs to be updated. The simulator in all needs some updates too.

With all the "simulations" available today I am mostly using NR2003 for ovals and LFS for road. Period.

The version of blackwood in assetto corsa feels really bad, i agree with you regarding FFB for sure Smile

Found LFS while bored one day on my old laptop and downloaded it but never expected it to run well or at all and was stunned when it ran pretty ok, and still here many of pc builds later and love it just as much

Quote from kiste :Well, i have played LFS for many years. in 2006 when i started with it it nearly catched me everyday until 2012/13 or so. but the big part of the community who made the leagues and races wich lfs made so great for me are gone mostly. Also had lfs by far the best paintings for a long time with no money for them. we as painters just posted public skins and so on. The community back in the days were just great overall. i cant judge about the current state since i am out of it for many years now. But if you say 200 players on a normaly day. its not enough for a racing game. Because some go drifting, cruising, demo, and some try to race. But the competition we all love about racing is mostly gone here i think. I am with yann here. lfs wont comeback near to any of the peaks it has had. Even with a new physic it will be hard. Out int he simracing scene no one knows about it. and i.e. iracing does a good job even there are costs. But in todays times people buy rigs and wheels for 1000 of euros so they dont care about buying cars or tracks if they get something good.

There are still good leagues with plenty of competitors, worth looking them up and with i have a pretty good build with VR and decent wheel but still think IRacing is not worth the money, it has its market i agree but graphically its rubbish compared to a.c+ project cars and the physics are not anything to write home about.
People tend to like a game or simulator they are able to instantly be able to drive which is not very realistic and Liveforspeed does replicate well.

For Open VR these files should be in your dll folder:

LFSOpenVR.dll

Well it wouldn't really be an old game if something didn't depend on framerate Big grin
That would be nice, I'm in VR so forced 90fps cap, so I guess that limits the updates to 50hz?

I would guess 500 steps would be enough, my friend with a TSPC said he can't notice any ticking with his lfs, though he is also on a monitor with uncapped fps. Belt and gears do have some inherent slip+delay in ffb delivery, compared to a direct drive.
[Cannot be solved] Use button to Pit

I'm using an Oculus Rift now when racing, but I'm having problems going into the Garage if I use a button instead of SHIFT P.

<?php
Event OnLeaveRace
$userName )  # Player event

$NickName GetCurrentPlayerVar("NickName");

# Needed for when in VR mode

openPrivButton"vr_pit",95,185,10,6,4,-1,16,"^7PIT",OnClick_Pit);
EndEvent

Sub OnClick_Pit
($KeyFlags,$userName)

$NickName GetCurrentPlayerVar("NickName");

cmdLFS"/pitlane " $NickName);
EndSub
?>

On my server, which is used for hot lapping, once you finish the single lap, you get spectated. This is to stop people just sitting around getting in other peoples way. This works fine.

If I then SHIFT P from the main screen, then this takes me into the garage. Problem is with headset on, very hard to tell where the keys on my keyboard are. Spacebar is fine, so I can aim with headset, rummage for spacebar, and click.

I was hoping if I had a button, then I could aim at that, then use spacebar to go to proper screen, but when I click my button, I get "Parameter is not valid".

I'm using AutoX layout on BL1X, and I even placed a pitbox and pit arrow. Doesn't help.

Is there a way to go to garage via a button?

Made new AutoX layout in preparation of getting Occulus Rift. Layout now on my (Sin'rs) server.

First video I made was pre VR

Made some slight changes (mainly ramp at finish line, and barriers, but not track layout) to the layout before doing another video using the Rift

Feel free to keep your opinions on my driving to yourself!
(I have to wear glasses as I'm astigmatic - and old. Been wearing glasses for over 55 years, but can't wear them in the Rift headset, so I'm having to drive with everything a bit of a blur, and difficult for me to work out where to brake, turn, etc., so tend to stay away too much from barriers, especially in corners).

Already set lap times for each car

It maybe that this layout is good for drifting - normally on my layouts, a high drift score for me would be just over 3,000 points. On this layout, I have a few in the 4,000's. Never had such a good point score before. Also, when I get 3,000 points, not unusual to see others with 10,000+

I'm a long time lfs player. I just bought oculus drift today, and i laughed out loud for like one minute when i first tried lfs VR. It's so well done! I tried dirt rally and assetto corsa but the immersion is nothing like LFS. So i just wanted to thank Scawen for making the VR-experience so awesome, And for support of your great work, i bought myself S3 lisence today.

Good to hear you are enjoying LFS in VR.

A Y offset should of course not be necessary and that's the first time I've heard of it. This must be something to do with your starting position for the Rift. When you first enter VR you normally click "OK" when you are in your seated position. The position issue you are reporting sounds as if you were sitting too far forward when you clicked "OK".

But with normal settings I would have thought you would notice that the next time you went into VR mode. Maybe you have set the option to "Store driving position" which prevents the position being reset each time you enter VR?

I can't remember exactly where the options are, but I think it is "Tracking setup" at the top right of View Options to do the setup again. The "Store driving position" is below the AA options and the default option is 'no'.

EDIT: Also you can do the seating position setup at any time with the command /vr reset which is assigned to F8 by default.

Quote from Vision73 :Hi,
I usually drive with VR-set up but right now I don't have any.

I remember 18 months ago when I purchase my Samsung CHG90 49" Curved 32/9 Ultra Wide Monitor (3840 x 1080) that I never succeed to setup LFS correctly, today I tried again, no success, what ever I do or try.

I don't have any problems with other driving games, example with iRacing I can use 1 or 3 monitor setup or Dirt Rally with one monitor.

Can anyone help me with this ?

What is the problem you are having, can you describe what you are seeing, compared with what you should be seeing?

Quote from Dygear :What's really insane about the VR code is that Scawen did it without ever having a headset himself.

I remember those times! That was only for the DK1 though, I ordered a DK2 as soon as orders opened. I did use all the tricks like coding for 3D anaglyph glasses at the same time and there were a lot of people who could test on 3D TV. I also had a Vuzix VR which didn't really work but could view stereo static images for a few seconds before it overheated, so I could do a lot of debugging before asking community members to check the output with VR distortion.

Quote from kagurazakayukari :Use 3 monitor option and set width to 1024:2048:1024

So there will be a fake "8:9 + 16:9 + 8:9" monitor. Worked on my CHG90, maybe our racers on forum have some better setups Rofl

Thx m8, I will try this later today ! Smile

I'm suprised that there is no native support for 32/9 because LFS has been pioneer several times in technology like in VR,
I played LFS with my DK2 long time ago before other games supported vr.
