I play CS:S once in a while only because I had to buy it for Garry's Mod to work properly on servers. Now that I have the Orange Box, I don't touch it unless a friend wants me to play. I usually play Gmod, TF2, or Empires.

Sorry for my ambiguity in the poll options, but what i meant for the option to release it to the public, it would of course have liscense restrictions and anti-cheat protection in the program itself. Demo users would be able to download it, instead of having the download put in a section where only liscensed racers can enter.

Quote from andy29 :I have to turn my steering wheel left and right at least 100 times every lap. Is there any way I can avoid this?

Race on the oval. You only have to turn your wheel 4-6 times each lap

Quote from The Very End :Why you don`t find it more realistic?

Probably because he got slower, or burns out his clutch without any sign of learning how to drive.

My keyboard has a media interface, so I don't NEED an LFS interface, but it would be nice to see. But, I do use a Winamp plugin in Garry's Mod (completely irrelevant to the topic, but i dont care :tilt

Until I get my hands on a 3 pedal set up, I have to use auto clutch with my old piece of junk Microsoft Sidewinder FFB.

Quote from zeugnimod :If you are bored you should have enough time learning to do it right instead of complaining.

I agree, it only took around 20 minutes of racing to get used to releasing the gas pedal and shifting in an efficent way. Try doing nothing but flatshifting in a real car and tell us how you like having a car with a melted clutch.

Quote from Yiots :Holy XXXX... I played rf more then LFS this week , someone please shoot me in the FACE!

Before I get bashed, I'm not saying I don't like it, ofcourse it is going by "LFS LAW" which is to make the game as real to life as possible but when your simulating something that isn't even there to begin with( no clutch pedal here ) just makes life kinda fake. "Don't worry just pretend it's there like we all have to", will have to suffice for now, I guess.

What I believe would have been better for everyone though, was to leave the auto-blip/lift options and make them standard to certain servers unless chosen by the host to disable for the more important factor of realism. This way you would balance the amount of "sequential" users to "H-patt" users through servers and choose your selection by what hardware you happen to own at the time. So you will be able to drive the sim, to its full potential.

Am I to understand that LFS is to be played "only" with full 3 set pedals now for optimal sim play? And doesn't fully support any set of wheels without a clutch pedal as "optimal" for the game? Before patch Y my momo logitech(red) was more then I could wish for. Seems now the lack of a 3rd pedal will force me to buy 3 pedal set only for LFS.

I'm not complaining, I guess I knew this day would eventually come but I didn't think it would be so abrupt and so "cold shoulder" as to what LFS was, just a few weeks ago.

Anyone know a good 3 pedal set? Not the wheel just the pedals... better start looking I guess.

Turn on auto clutch?
For the sake of the community- Should ANY version of Tweak be released?

After spending a while of sifting through "I WANT TWEAK NOW RELEASE IT MODS", users spamming their e-mails to try to get a copy, and people releasing their versions without permission, I think Tweak should not be released to the public. Or if you want to compromise, add a feature that prevents demoers or non registered guests from downloading certain files. Tweak is a program I like though, but all this bitching for a release? It could wreak havoc on the community with spam from demo users wanting tweak, knowing it's for liscensed racers only, and others spamming how fast they can go on the BL1 back straight, oval, or drag strip. Also, it would cause trouble with the WR charts, with people finding exploits and uploading stupidly fast laps to take away WR's.

Quote from cardriverx :just bumpin the thread...

Next time you bunp a thread, post something useful. I'd love to see Slickmod in patch Y to go with Tweak. Maybe Tweak and SlickMod could be combined into one program? (That is if there is a release)

Updated with suggested Mobo and graphics card. £91 more which I can probably stretch to (pay day today!!! ). Any other suggestions/advice? Have I got everything there that I need, will only be using my speakers, mouse & keyboard from current machine.

Also is the 64bit version of Vista okay? I remember reading a lot about driver problems a while back...

Cheers

Maybe a more powerful power supply? 500W seems to cut it a bit close.

Quote from lizardfolk :Patch Y was great (except laggy SP but i dont play SP)...but today Patch Y just crashed my video driver and my whole system just shut down. This happened over and over again each time i try to play LFS.

Like I said, updating my graphics cards drivers did the trick. You should do it too. Just keep in mind you will have to set any AA/AF settings you have again.

How about the FZR? It would increase the amount of pitstops, and is now a bit different to control. In a 120 lap race in the XRR at Kyoto, you would only have to pit once.

One reason- ATI is great at making cards, but fail at making decent drivers. My friend updated to 7.12 and it was so bad for him he went back to his previous driver.

Quote from Gunn :Overtake and get a drive through or 10 sec stop/go penalty. Sounds simple to me.

That's a little too harsh. Giving the driver who overtook 20 seconds to get back into place would be much better. Also, you could advance your position if the driver thats supposed to be in front of you drives too slowly long enough, or drives into the pits or off the track.

Bodhidharmazen- Theres a thing about Shift-P that you don't understand. Because we sit behind a computer screen to drive, whenever you total a car out, you can't just get out, hop over a wall, and wait for your car to be hauled off. If it was different, most sims would have no tele-race leaving.

Quote from wheel4hummer :You can get reaction time using an auto-x layout. Just put the 1st checkpoint at the very end of the stage area. That's how it is timed in RL, right?

No, that is total time. Reaction time is how long it takes for you to react to launch off the line when the light goes green. Example-
RT-
John Force- 0.102
Eddie Hill- 0.146

A pace car would be good for long league races, and when a full-course caution comes out, we should have some way to know which car to follow, which would help a LOT to prevent stops and crashes under yellow.
