Please, let's try to get this thread back on-topic. If we cant do that, maybe it just needs a lock, and the forum shut down. All this flaming, trolling, and whining is just sickening for a community I thought to be much more mature.

Quote from Riders Motion :And which steering wheel do you have? I got a Momo here, I hope it handles the pace and won't leave me too fast...

I use a SideWinder FFB. The only thing wrong with it right now is the shift buttons behind the wheel occasionally double/triple shifting on me. Nothing wrong with the pedals.

To the people complaining about lifting off the throttle and slamming it back down when shifting up affecting the longevity of plastic pedals- LFS is just now joining the club. rFactor already requires it, NR2003 also does. The result of flat shifting too much usually ends up in a destroyed gear. I know for a fact that it happens in NR2003, but im not so sure about rFactor. If your pedals break like this, either there's something wrong with the quality of your wheel or you. My pedals have shown no sign of wear from lifting off to shift after numerous hours of NR2003 and rFactor gameplay.

Your problem is the modem. Get your mom to buy a decent high-speed connection.

Quote from Stang70Fastback :The retail heatsink should have a "thermal pad" on the bottom. It's square shaped (don't touch it - it's basically thermal paste thats printed onto the base of the heatsink.) It's not as good as thermal paste, but it works just fine. You DO need something though. If it truly didn't come with anything it's a manufacturing error, and you'll likely overheat your CPU in seconds if you try to run it.

When I got mine, the first thing I did was removed it. I made the mistake of using the back of a knife and scratched the copper on the heatsink, but I quickly realized it and just rubbed it off with my finger, cleaned it with alchohol, and put some Arctic Silver 5 on it.

Quote from Stang70Fastback :I'm just wondering, I know it does make a difference, but how much louder is a case where the whole front is perforated? I almost got one like that but I feared it would be too loud.

Mine isn't loud at all, though I can hear the fans (since my tower is right up next to me), but it's a very quiet hum.

It seems the 8800GTS I got is a higher version than regular 640MB cards. Newegg shows other GTS's have 96 stream processors while mine has 112.

Here's the case I have and reccomend for both quality and a good price.

The front of the case is perforated mesh metal, providing great airflow for the price.

Eh, when it comes to LFS, well, racing sims/games in general, I use my left foot for braking. But, If i just so happen to get my hands/feet on a wheel with a clutch pedal, that may change.

Quote from Jakg :Then disable UAC?

Frankly if you can't be bothered to Google the solution to a problem you probably need it to keep asking your permission to open the program you just double-clicked on just in case.
Not Vista's fault your OS crashes when your CPU is overclocked and it's unstable - Voltage isn't the only thing that affects stability of an overclock, you could be pushing the memory of the motherboard too much, or that could just be the CPU's limit.

For my desktop PC Vista is growing on me, would love to see what a vLited copy of Vista would be like compared to an nLited XP. Vista isn't that much slower, although you really need 2 GB of RAM and a Dual Core to use it properly.

For my laptop Vista freaking rocks, however.

I wasn't intending to put the blame on the OS, I meant to say the only crashes were from the CPU crapping out. The only problem I have with Vista atm is it is reporting that there is much more space being used on the HDD then there really is. In reality, there is about 25GB of space being used, while Vista is showing that around 80GB is being used.

Funny video, but the only crashes I have experienced in Vista I experienced is when the CPU says OHSHI when I try to overclock over 3GHz. I do up the voltage, but it just seems to crash at 3005 MHz.
Also, to get rid of those annoying "Allow or Block" prompts, go to Control Panel>User Accounts and Family Safety>User Accounts, and click "Turn User Account Control On or Off"
After you disable it, restart your computer. No more prompts every 3 seconds!

Thanks man, I called in and had it activated. One more thing, Windows reports that there is 223 GB free out of 298 when im only using around 23 GB of space?
Vista activation problem

When I installed my copy of Vista Home Premium on my PC, it was running XP, and was connected to the internet. I typed in the activation code, and it went through without a problem. When I tried the same thing on my laptop a few months before, I got the key wrong a couple of times, but when I got it right, it went through without any problems. Now, on my desktop PC, when I go into the Control Panel, I see that Windows reports that it is NOT activated, and when I try to activate it, it tells me that the product key is already in use. I did go back to XP on my laptop after a driver failure, what could be wrong?

Quote from Takumi_lfs :it's a momo .... wait.. is it a dfp?

btw nice system got the same only with no gfx card and Asus P5kc.. im still damn waiting for it.. (8800GT)..

It's a Sidewinder FFB. I need a new heatsink because the copper that contacts the CPU is scratched, one core runs a constant 4C higher than the other.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :How does the cost of a case make any difference in your computer?! Does it make it go to 6 GHZ!!!?

He is saying he bought a bad quality case, probably too small to fit everything in, and bad airflow.
