Mostly its because of the resolution the skin was created at. That last skin I made was at 2048x2048. Also, using vector graphics as much as possible for logos and decals helps very much (if you can find them).
I too have this wheel and would also be interested in knowing what settings other owners are using.
Giannic: If you have calibrated it in LFS and its still steering wonky, there may be something wrong with the wheel. I am only able to calibrate mine in LFS as the old crappy sidewinder software was never updated to be used with XP32/64. I use XP64 and it just works, I cant access the sidewinder controlpanel, but I have never needed to as I can always just set it up in LFS.
Yes, its very intuitive. Just hook up every cotroller you want to use, then load lfs and assign every thing from there. At the moment i use:
1. MSFFB Wheel
2. Generic wheel for clutch
3. MSFFB joystick for H shifter
4. Saitek X52 for all other controls like vote/Pit setup/tyres etc
Well, I thought all three races where quite enjoyable. I don't get this "banger racing" thing. Ive been watching WTCC and V8 super cars and I'm still preferring BTCC.
I like the RAC. Recently I have found it more controllable, I dont know whether thats to do with the patch, I doubt it because I have mainly old sets with Viscous/locked diffs. Maybe Im just more used to it now.
Jamexing: you mentioned the turbo. Do you think its too slow to build up? Personally I think this one of the areas that can get ppl into trouble, I find the turbo kicks in pretty quickly and when flat shifting you can easily swap ends on some corners that other cars have no problems with. So more care is needed.
I bought this and its great. Multiplayer is excellent. Ill admit there are bugs, and some are quite irritating. But what games don't have bugs on release these days? ( well LFS obviously, but thats it).
Before ArmA I was playing BF2, so Bohemia Interactives approach to bugs and its fixing of them is a breath of fresh air.
The above is a community bug tracking program where users can report bugs, vote on bugs and give help with fixing bugs. Also it is possible to see the change log for future patches, what has been fixed for the next patch etc.
I don't think all the criticism on the game's performance is entirely fair. Ill agree there can be some more optimization. But at the end of the day, this game will struggle at full details on even the most "uber" of recent pc technology. And Im fine with that, why do all games have to run at their full details on current hardware? I still cant run Operation Flashpoint at full details/view distance on my current PC (3500+ /7800GS /2gb) and that game was released in about 2001!! Its nice to have some games that you know where designed to last for longer than 1 year, before the developers decide its time to churn out another load of shite for the brainless masses to pad their greedy bank accounts....Electronic Arts 2142 comes to mind....
This game should run fine for you on Very low/ low settings. Even though its not the best, the demo is still a good indicator of how it will run. Once you get over the fact you cant run the game at full details the enjoyment begins.
