I have found its quicker to use the clutch in some cases, such as accelerating up a hill. I find I have to lift off too much before the next gear up kicks in, so I just dab the clutch to give it a helping hand
other than that I don't clutch while racing in this car
I have never used auto clutch myself, tried it but it felt way too easy
I think a lot of people don't realize they could have a clutch for not very much money at all. All you need is a second crappy steering wheel, it doesn't have to have FFB or anything. If you have a crappy old console (PSX) steering wheel you could use the pedals from that. or an old Game Port wheel your mate has but does not use anymore etc etc.
PSX controllers and Game port controllers can be connected to your PC via these http://www.rockfire.com.tw/ (click "Product" then "Accessory" and its the last two on the page)
I bought mine at Maplin for less than 15 quid.
Danowat, post a replay of a few laps around some track in the FZ5, I still really cant see why your needing to blip to drive the FZ5 with manual controls. Maybe your down shifting too early or some thing.
ok then,
here's 3 laps of SO Chicane, without blipping the throttle once.
Like I said, I'm hardly going to be braking any records, but I doubt its my shifting that's slowing me down. Especially since that was the 1st time I drove the FZ5 since the latest patch
I don't get it . why do you have to use Auto clutch if you cant blip the the throttle on the down shifts? Cant you just shift normally?
Is it really that much slower? The best thing I find about blipping the throttle on the down shift is it sounds cooler. Granted, I'm not a mega fast driver or anything and have been using manual clutch + shifter (without auto blip) for ages. I cant really see that heel toeing would shave even half a second of my times.
I never heard of that, interesting. But I guess I don't read that many motor oil cans. I have heard that exposer to motor oil can increase the risk of arthritis, however.
You don't need to buy G25 to have 3 pedal action. LFS has one of the best multiple controller options I have seen In any game. I use an MS Sidewinder wheel and for a clutch I use some cheapo Madcatz Playstation wheel and pedal set. I have the wheel hidden away and its associated pedals next to my MS Sidewinder pedals. I connect the madcatz wheel to my pc using a Playstation to USB adapter, works a treat.
What I'm basically saying is if you have a spare 15 quid lying around theres no reason not to have an analog clutch for LFS. In fact, I bet there are a fair few people here that have a crap PS wheel and pedals gathering dust somewhere.
I am getting lockups with this patch. I need to do more testing to figure out if its related to number of cars on the track or if it only happens on a particular track etc. I was wondering Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? It doesn't happen a lot. But its has happened to me about 3 times now over 3 days.
Its probably just my arseways method of explaining things . I guess when I say "they touch the pad" I mean they rest along the right hand side of the mouse.
If you have a G9 Tristan, would you mind taking a picture of your hand resting on it?
I recently bought a Logitech G5 to replace my horrible MS Wireless laser mouse 6000. However, after a short time using it I was getting nasty pain in my wrist. I believe it is because the design of the mouse forces you to rest your 4th (ring) finger on the top of the mouse along side the right mouse button. I have never had a mouse designed that way before. My Little and Ring finger-tips are always touching the mouse pad with all other mice I have had (mostly MS)
So anyway, I have sent the G5 mouse back from whence it came and I am thinking about replacing it with a Logitech G9. From the screen shots it looks as though your hand rests on it in the way I am most used to, with my little and ring finger-tips touching the mouse pad. Can any G9 owners confirm this for me please?
I dunno, I think the FOX will still be popular. I find the FBM a little bit too easy to control, its more understeer than oversteer. I have yet to race it properly though and I was using the default setup, but its seems mighty hard to get the tail out even with the lowest downforce settings . In fact, I couldn't really tell the difference between lowest downforce and highest down force around Blackwood.
I think switching the demo cars was a really good idea. The Demo is not about "what They get", its about showing off the different types of racing LFS provides. And having driven the FBM, it seems like the perfect introductory car for single seater's in LFS. I mean considering the amount of different racing classes in LFS, it was a bit crap to get three road cars.
Surprised no one else has posted about this:hide:, but did anyone see the final 2007 race at Philip Island? Best tin top final all year for me. Tander in a Vodaphone sandwich. The pressure must have been immense for all top 4 drivers involved. Even Todd Kelly, who's positioning mattered so much. anyway, what a race :auto:
yes, but having watched a lot of tin top racing in the past year or so, Id say the use of lights as a tactic is not to be dismissed. real life drivers seem to use it a lot to unnerve the car ahead, let them know they are on a charge and they should be ready for the pounce.
Does anyone know why the Lights button in LFS only flashes the lights rather than turn them on permanently or off? Surely, if we wanted to flash them, we could just turn them on and back off again. Do the devs feel that having your lights on behind a car is rude? or is it just one of those little things that need updating in a patch or some thing?
I mean, I know its not exactly up there with collision fixes/GTR interiors etc but im guessing its not that hard to fix/change.
No need to be sorry mate, you have already given us loads. ty for that btw. It would be nice to have an new fern bay, but don't sweat it dude . No point in putting time and effort into it if your enjoying working on other projects, learning new stuff.
