Quote from Fordman :Conversion done but Tiago...Haven't tried it yet, as on wrong PC but just seem it.

It looks good....but is it driveable?

Fordie

It's as good as the Rfactor version it's based off. Ai works etc. I haven't seen Tiago release a bad conversion yet.

Have you tried "Gentrack1" or "Longford 67" or "Bruno"?

So far those are the highest quality I have seen, as far as gfx and overall polish are concerned anyway.

Quote from Matrixi :Each user has their Steam account and AC online info glaring under their forum username.

No other game than AC forces its users to do this. Let that sink in.

F*ck me for being cautious and wanting to keep my Steam info to myself and friends, right?

Play around with the Steam privacy settings. It's pretty flexible and easy to lock down so only your friends can see your info or even no one at all.

Thanks for the great tracks Eric, and for the insight into the development.

Looking forward to the new updates/tracks!

Quote from sinbad :Yes I always check that, and yes they've re-organised for some reason. The fact that it needs setting is bad enough, and I always have to kill the wsLivetime.exe when I close AC. The new multiplayer stuff seems just as needlessly craplicated as the previous too.

The wslivetime.exe is part of RSR live timing app if you delete that addon it will fix this problem. Maybe they addon makers even have a new version that works? Dunno myself, don't use it.

It's pretty normal for patches to reset hidden stuff in .cfg's and .ini's, epsecially when they have done a major over haul of the GFX engine.

In what way is the new MP system "craplicated" as the old one. I haven't done much testing, but so far it seems miles better,as far as all the prebooking stuff goes anyway.

The original rFactor one was, yes. ( Well, it was called "Eastern Creek Laser" and was pretty bumpy anyway )

The convert to AC is very basic and the bumps are too exaggerated. It's still my second favourite mod track after Joux Plane though

Quote from Boris Lozac :Nice! btw where are you getting this info for the 'next patch'. All i see are teases on Facebook page not mentioning 'when', nor i can find any thread on AC forums..

I noticed one of the replies to the face book pic is from a dev saying "28 / 02 / 2014".

Also, looks like they updated the page again!

Seems we'll be getting the Nürburgring GP track too.

I wonder how similar to the FO8 it will be, with regards getting the power down out of the corners... any way, should be fun

Quote from luchian :^These^

I don't post very often, but I read the forum almost daily. Sometimes it seems like it has been taken under assault by just a few (same) people with name calling going in all directions. Even if some of the forumers feel like home here, even if you may be knowing each other very well to be able to cross the "polite" line, this remains a public forum and those kind of posts still create an unwelcome feeling "from the outside".

Yep, I feel the same. I'm glad to see some more heavy moderation.

Quote from R3DMAN :because thats bordering on dictatorship... "do as i say or else".. etc

if i was to disagree with Scawen there should be no comeuppance if i was to put across my point of view as long as it was done the right way..

i got banned from assetto corsa for 6 days for calling someone an imbecile due to him posting utter nonsense about the realism of using a mouse to steer the car.. just be thankful that scawen isnt that harsh.

Every forum is a dictatorship. This is not a public free-speech environment. This is "Scawen's (Eric/Victor's) house". And if they want you to leave for any reason at all, they are totally within their rights to ban who they like and you have no come back. Just like if you where visiting some ones house in real life... At least that's how I view forums.

Cheers Lame, I was wondering
Clutch simulation very basic

What do you guys think of the clutch simulation (or lack of)? Don't tell me I'm the only one who wants to use 3 pedals and manual heel/toe? Cause it sure seems like that from all the forums I have looked at so far.

Even with all aids off (as far as I can tell), it seems that although you can assign the clutch pedal, you never have to use it with any car, you can just shift up and down the gears without it.
I know some of the real cars might actually have sequential gear boxes with auto clutch (it would be nice to see a list of what transmission each car is supposed to have actually/ how the real car is). But surely the M3 e30 should require you to use a clutch if you have it?

Another thing is Auto Blip, this seems to happen on some cars even though it is turned off, like the Fiat 500. Also the M3 GT2 Auto Blips on down shifts. Wouldn't a race car like this require the driver to do the blipping?

Anyway, I really would like a better transmissions/clutch simulation. You can't even make the car stall and there is no Ignition key command. You dont need to use the clutch to pull away from standing start.

What do you think of this, do you think they will improve it?

Quote from sinbad :You would have thought they would have learned from NKpro that it's not enough to simply have a multiplayer mode, it has to be so good nowadays that any little flaw or glitch is enough to put people right off.

So on one hand I'm glad they taking the time to do it right, but on the other hand the cynic in me says that they want to get my money before it becomes clear that they cannot do it right.

I know a couple of people who will feel the same way. I'm sure there will be many more too.

Great to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I really want to get when it's out. But this lack of MP, or any idea what MP will be like is a big problem. I am really surprised they have nothing done in this area for initial release. It really seems this sim is still a year (at least) away from a full retail release, given the missing feature list.

Quote from Scawen :

I don't know how that works. Is it a system that uses shutter glasses with a standard monitor? Does it have the option to accept side-by-side (SBS) output from a game and convert that to full screen 3d?

Quote from jasonmatthews :Thanks for the update. Nvidia 3dvision sorts everything out, I guess it would be a pretty small coding change to get it working perfectly. I use shutter glasses on my 3d projector. The nvidia drivers convert it to SBS on the fly IIRC.

Pretty much what Jason said. You need to have 120hz monitor/projector (and 3D Vision kit - Shutter Glasses + USB dongle thing) and then the driver figures it out and creates a 3D image that works with the shutter glasses (60hz each lens). Mostly games that have some kind of post process effect or HUD elements etc need fixing by the developer, so I guess LFS probably doesn't really need anything done to it at the moment to improve Nvidia 3D vision compatibility.

I realize now that the 3D support you are adding is to actually add 3d output options to TVs from within LFS. Nvidia 3d vision doesnt really benefit from or need this, as far as I know. So there probably will be no difference. But like I say, it works pretty good anyway . I haven't tried 3D in ages, so I will have another go and see if there is anything that could do with tweaking

Thanks for the update.

I'm interested to try 3D too. I have Nvidia 3D Vision 1.

It actually did work pretty good in LFS already, even though it wasn't supported. The cockpit view etc had no problems once you adjusted the Convergence. It will be interesting to see how it is with propper 3D support.

For lift off oversteer, I find it mostly relates to setup. The UF1000 and the FXO would the best to experience it. Download some setups from Setup grid etc, you will get plenty of oversteer in the FWDs with a lot of these setups.

G27 here. I think it might be the car? It seems to have a lot of grip and is not very easy to get the tail out anyway. I think I'd need to try more car types to pass judgement on the the FFb/handling. At the moment, I think it it's very good (using LFS as a reference).

You can see pretty similar characteristics in this vid (damp track too). Lots of grip but when it goes, it looks a bit unpredictable.

ps, I am aware they are slightly different models, 111r/SC

Quote from [RCG]Boosted :dont wanna play nkpro...and buying a key for a demo is a bit...uh.

Wait for the demo

On the AC tech preview in general though, I think it is very impressive. As long as the net code and MP component is as good as LFS, I can see this taking up a lot of my race sim time. I cannot wait to have a go of an F40

Interface= great
sound= great
Physics=great
FFB= great
FPS= better than expected
