Quote from amp88 :Very disappointing decision, IMO. Smacks of saving face/backroom dealing.

Nope, it's all they can achieve... The penalty can't be appealed anyway, so forcing the FIA to act is everything they wanted... I don't believe the "in the interest for the sport" for one second - it didn't held anyone back in the past...

It doesn't matter, as we know from Spa 2 years ago you can't appeal a drive-through after the race, and that's exactly what will come of it... So now Schumacher is f*cked because the stewards can't read straight... Hill got his revenge after all...

I've always said the HLVC is way too lenient (and most league rules as well, but that's not the topic)... The track is the tarmac between the white lines, and nothing else... If you position all four wheels on the outside of those lines for the purpose of gaining time, you should be punished - the lap should be invalid, an that's the end of it...

So, I'll be going to the races at Brno... Anybody else going as well? Any tips where you can get the best view and so on?

I don't think you can partially stall a wing, especially not one so "small"... But I too am interested how the system is actuated - because everything else than driver-actuated surely has to be a moving aerodynamic part, no?

Yeah, the AUG has an effective range of 300 m too (you don't even get any significant bullet drop over 100 m) and is displayed as one of the less accurate rifles in the game... Longest shot was IIRC about 1 km... Anyway, you'd probably shoot as straight as the sniper rifles over the average view distances you have in the game... Of course that wouldn't be much fun for the average FPS gamer...

Quote from NotAnIllusion :I've been having buffering issues with YT now for a couple of weeks. Even 360p stuff that I know I've watched before. Generally slow, sometimes it just jumps straight to 100% buffered and refuses to play past a certain point. As far as I can tell, I have the newest Flashes and Shockwaves installed and don't have this problem on other streaming sites. Anyone experiencing similar things, and is there something I can do to improve the performance? Clearing temp files, biscuits & the rest did diddlysquat

It does that for me when the system partition is full... Did clearing temp really give you much space? You might need to throw out more than that, especially when one of those vids can clog up your hdd again pretty fast...

Quote from Kid222 :I don't think you'll need to buy it. They should have new feature, which will allow you to download that car, but you will not able to drive it, until you buy it.

Just guessing though + heard it somewhere.. it's uncertain, but it would be fairest way, otherwise the series will have massive drop in participation.

Why would they say otherwise in the release notes then?

Quote from UncleBenny :2010 Season 2 Schedule posted:

http://members.iracing.com/ifo ... readID=80279&tstart=0

I hate complaining, but seriously, absolutely no changes to the oval schedule and 1-2 changes on most of the road ones? That's the best you could do iRacing? It honestly seems to me like they forgot and just said "oh well we'll just give them the exact same schedule again".

You gotta be used to that now, they always make it a copy&paste job from the previous season (only seen one time they really overhauled the schedule)... I understand they want to bring a bit of stability to it (so a new member doesn't need to buy content every season), but a bit more variation should be possible, at least make it another layout of the same track...

Quote from UncleBenny :DP vs Radical is not multi-class racing to me. Aren't they almost the exact same speed at most tracks? When they get something lower horsepower out like the Mustang, and put that up against a HP-monster like the C6R, maybe I'd get more excited about it. Two distinct classes, racing for their own championships, that's multi-class racing.

Totally agree - I don't think they really grasp the concept of classes... That matchup could be epic though - like the BTCC of yesteryear (which too was only one class)...

Quote from NightShift :Am I the only one who thinks collision boxes in iRacing are unacceptably large?

iRacing still has issues with their netcode - the extrapolation still causes quite a few wtf-moments, but it's far better than a year ago... I still think extrapolation is the wrong way to go, but the fans are too hung up on not seeing cars lagging to ask for having accurate positioning...

Main race just over... Great stream, watched both races without any hickup throughout the whole broadcast...

Great races, much passing and head-to-head duels in both races... Grosjean creamed everybody, driving 2 seconds faster than seasoned GT drivers in his first race in a GT car is quite a feat... Puts F1's level of driving in perspective once again...

Quote from Wilko868 :It'll be a pre-cursor to the V8 + Phillip Island or a server update for the 499 I'd expect, although don't take my word for it!

I don't think it would take that long... It's taking almost two hours now and the forums are also affected... This seems to be something bigger...

Quote from Bose321 :Not really. Well not with mine atleast, and all people I know that have one, don't have it too.

Any other stuff new/fixed or whatever with the new PCB, and can you request one too?

I really don't know, he was answering a question about new dongles and that it isn't that easy with the GT3RS (being cable-bound and all)... He mentioned existing customers would be able to upgrade but will have to pay Fanatec's cost of the new PCBs...

Personally, I'd wait with the wheel... Thomas mentioned in the support thread over at the iForums that they're testing out new PCBs that might solve some issues the wheel has (like not being fully centered/losing center while playing)...

Quote from tinvek :going back to the problem with overaking, they need to have big rethink on the tyre compounds. at the moment the softer tyre is too durable and not fast enough compared to the harder compound.

what they should have is a soft compound that gives maybe a 4 second a lap advantage but which only lasts 15 laps on half tanks at a circuit like australia. also make it so you don't have to use both compounds and the limit on tyre sets becomes any 4 dry sets in the race. finally make it so all the cars start on the tyres they set their fastest qualifying time on. the soft tyre shouldn't fail when it's worn out just wear down to a very hard surface that gives the harder compound a 5 second a lap advantage

now what strategy do you use ? go like stink at the start on soft but with the heavey fuel load probably have to change after 8 or 10 laps or use the harder compound? if you start on the harder compound, you may have bad track position, do you go the whole race without stopping or do you change to soft when you think you can make it last? you're stuck behind a car on hard tyres what do you do, stay put and hope to pass or go for fresh soft and hope you can make the time up and then be in a car with a lot more grip ? if you really screw your soft tyres will you be forced to run on hard at the end becuase you have no more sets to use or can you live with shot soft tyres and defend for the last 10 laps?

this scenario doesn't have to raise cornering speeds above current levels, just make the soft less durable and then make the hard slower than it is now

So basically you're saying tyre manufacturers should unlearn everything about durability of tyres from about the last 20 years? I very much doubt that'll happen...

Quote from Gil07 :Let's hope the ALMS opens GTC to other brands than Porsche for next season. Would be awesome to see all those cars against each other in proper races!

As far as I know GTC isn't GT3 spec, but (even) slower... So every team would have to buy a GT3 car and still modify it to enter ALMS, but most small teams probably won't do that (cost)...

Quote from GianniC :Agreed. You get some nice racing of some cars catching up fast, doing 1,5 - 2 secs faster lap times, then they get behind the corner, right under the rear wing and.... that's it. Unbelieveable and in my eyes proving that there is something wrong.

Decent race, better than previous one.Though I keep having my same complaints so...

Well, that's what you get when you have the bright idea to limit front mechanical traction by making the tyres narrower... Every idiot can tell you taking away mechanical traction when your downforce is shot anyway will not improve overtaking, but leave it to the buffoons at the OWG to get it wrong yet again...

You gotta ask if there is even one decent engineer on that team or whether that group consists only of empty heads acting important...

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :Honestly I'm not sure why you would call it that? Perhaps in terms of bytes you may be right since it sounds like a new track will be in there, but there really isn't anything new being added to the LFS experience from what I can tell (which is only what's been explicitly said).
[...]
I would call the transmission model update a bigger patch since it actually added something new to the sim.

Tristan is right, you just see it from another angle: content... But the physics haven't been fully rewritten at least since LfS S2 started, maybe longer - only new features were added, so in terms of workload it definitely is the biggest patch ever (pareto principle applies fully here)...

I'd also argue that on importance it may also be the biggest one yet: now that for the first time (more or less) worthy challengers have established themselves this update will determine if people will still follow LfS' development in the future or if they make the switch to another sim of choice complete...
