The year ahead model thing is nothing special for North America, manufacturers here do this as well. Only in Europe cars are not advertised with their model year, they just say "the new Audi A3" etc. or, refering to an older model, Golf Mk1, 2, 3 etc., Audi A3 8L, 8P and so on.
Usually in one model's life span one or two "facelifts" are introduced, Mercedes calls these "Modellpflege", refreshing exterieur and/or interieur designs and revisting engines when structurally the car stays the same.
The production lines are generally shut down for a few weeks in summer (Werksferien, translates to worksholiday). While they stop producing cars, they don't stop working in there alltogether. Changes are made to the production lines and the cars produced in the second half of 2014 are referred to as model year 2015 in order not to sell a "2014" car in early 2015.
From what I remember you used to live in the UK not too long ago? So you should be able to see how the NA interpretation of "decent car" differs from Europe and assumingly most other parts of the world.
Don't know if you're still into this, but regarding intake sounds have a look at these:
What's really nice is that you can see the throttle opening and closing and the sound in relation to that.
Now what these sound like from onboard?
Stripped race car:
"Street cars":
What they sound like from outside:
note that all of these are 4 cylinder engines.
Intake noises of race engines give them a really agressive sound under load that just puts a giant smile on my face. It's one of the things I miss most about LFS' sound engine.
Despite what everyone else thinks of or associates with these cars, a stock BNR32 is one classy piece. The same goes for other japanese sports cars, like NSX, Supra, RX-7. As time goes by more and more of these beauties will be abused and destroyed, so I guess their worth will increase very dramatically.
I was looking for a post by Keiichi himself and I didn't know whether your fix contained all the necessary files.
Anyways I had a quick look but didn't end up keeping them. They give the paint a metallic yet oversaturated look and at shallow angles the reflections become too intense.
For example if you look at the XFG from the back, there are very bright reflections on the rear spoiler despite the roof/rear window being "in the way" of sky reflections.
The absence of self-reflections is not so obvious with the standard shaders.
Weird that in German the speedometer is called Tachometer (Tacho for short). However that thing looks ugly and the numbers are too small and clustered -> readability is bad -> hardly any pracical use.
Also if you rev to 7000 rpm in first or second gear, do you really care about your speed for that moment?
Hmm I didn't check for other threads about this problem. Yours has only been there for one day so possibly none of the forum staff/programmers have noticed it yet.
Since countless bugs have been issued in this thread before, I thought it was the best place for a report.
Also: signatures and people's join dates, post counts, racer names, "online at:" etc. are still missing. :o
If I "go to first unread post" from my subscriptions page the actual last post from "yesterday, 0:56
by McGherkin" is not displayed. There are 50 posts displayed for me on page 87 (#4301-4350).
Edit: I just checked something. The last post is invisible when I have 25 or 10 posts per page, however it is visible when I set it to 35 posts per page (i.e. when it would not start a new page).
It would be an easy way indeed but do we really want yet another one of the XR kind? It's not particularly pretty and in a way I'm sick of it (Drifters).
Live for Speed needs fresh content and when I think of RWD touring cars I'm thinking of (old) DTM's 190 Evo or BTCC's E36 320i, modest looking, sporty saloons slammed to the ground with huge wheels and aggresive aero kits.
So yeah, something along those lines for me, please.
Well the base should be a 348 and it definitely doesn't look like something Ferrari themselves would have done to it so I have no idea what it is called. Judging by the shot from the rear the V-angle is 60° so it appears someone decided to put a blown V12 inside this car after doing horrible things to its rear end...
Licence aside, you got vob. mods installed which are illegal so don't try to post them here anyway.
Then you have to do a third account.
For goodness' sake can you finally let it go? Where do you even see a .vob mod in his pictures?! If you feel like acting out the forum police just apply for a moderator position or report his post.
Can't you people appreciate that he's one of the few to post decent edits here? I'm not the biggest fan of that sort of style but technically they are mostly clean and have a nice variation in composition.
A similar page is now at Subscriptions. You can see all your subscribed threads/forums, and if any of them have new posts, you can go to that post.
I just saw now that there is a small "New" button, thanks!
Anyways, a few visual improvements I'd greatly appreciate:
- swapping the date of post and post# information
- displaying certain things in bold letters like post date or the "Quote from User"
Click your name in the upper right, next to the logout button
Back in the old forum I could simply click on "User control panel" and it would show me subscribed threads with unread posts. Upon clicking these threads it would jump right to the first unread post.
The background is cool but unfortunately you chose the ugliest wheels of your previous edits for this one. Also not a fan of the blurry/dreamy look, just gives it a cheap appearance.
Oh and you have a major error *salutes* in the rear wheel spokes.
